Issue: Attempts to collect debt not owed
Subissue: Debt is not yours
Consumer Complaint: I have recently started receiving correspondence via U.S. mail from Portfolio Recovery Associates to collect a debt. There are two collections on my credit report from this collection agency. One report is with an original creditor XXXX XXXX with a balance of {$330.00} and the other is XXXX XXXX with a balance of {$440.00}. I've never had an account of any kind with XXXX XXXX and until XX/XX/2022 I never had an account with XXXX XXXX ( which is paid and in good standing ). Upon further review, Portfolio Recovery Associates are not licensed to collect in the state of Michigan. This debt is not owed by me and collection attempts should cease and desist. I would also like the negative credit reporting removed immediately. This company has a history of illegal collection attempts and misconduct .... " Allegedly. ''

Consumer Complaint: I have been in the process of disputing debts stated on my credit report that are not mine. I have contacted the credit bureaus in regard to these debts and stated that they are not mine and I have no knowledge of these debts. I contacted each credit bureau on XXXX XXXX, and 13 to have these debts ( in amounts of {$580.00}, {$540.00}, {$380.00}, {$1300.00}, {$900.00}, and {$910.00} ) removed from my credit report with proof, and they are still refusing to do so. Some of these " debts '' that I have no knowledge of have even been written off and are still showing on my report as my debts.

Issue: Attempts to collect debt not owed
Subissue: Debt was already discharged in bankruptcy and is no longer owed
Consumer Complaint: I was contacted this morning around XXXX by the portfolio recovery associates # XXXX. The caller poorly informed me/refused to tell me who they were or why they were calling until I confirmed who I was. After I did, they went straight to telling me about a debt they were trying to collect, of which is a credit card debt that can only be from more than 6 years ago. My credit report doesn't even show it anymore, it has been written off completely ( I verified this with two companies ) In others words PRA is still trying to collect old debt that isn't even legally due anymore. I also found it incredibly rude that they refused to they me who they were before I " verified '' who I was. I didn't want information other than who they were.

Issue: Problem with a credit reporting company's investigation into an existing problem
Subissue: Their investigation did not fix an error on your report
Consumer Complaint: I have reached out XXXX on 3 separate occasions about this debt being incorrectly reported by PORTFOLIO RECOVERY ASSOCIATES. I have also reached out to portfolio recovery as well. The date of first delinquency has been WELL over 7 years, and when informed of this, and told that the last activity on the account was almost 8 years old. Inspite of this, XXXX has not verified the accuracy receiving nothing from original creditor ( XXXX XXXX ) or account summery when last activity was, only asking PORTFOLIO RECOVERY ASSOCIATES to verify. PORTFOLIO RECOVERY ASSOCIATES fraudulently reported incorrect dates that have no documentation to verify the accuracy from original creditor. Only items provided was that there was delinquency 's from XX/XX/, but nothing on the status prior, because it would show there was delinquency then as well making the debt much older then is allowed to be reported.

Subissue: Debt was paid
Consumer Complaint: The debt was held by Portfolio Recovery Associates, I negotiated, in good faith an old debt of {$8800.00} to be settled, and considered paid in full for the amount of {$4400.00}. I have a settlement letter as proof of settlement. My 3 credit bureaus are not reporting this as settled in full and still shows an outstanding balance. I was told this debt would be removed from my credit report, but it had not, please help.
