Issue: Problem with a company's investigation into an existing issue
Subissue: Their investigation did not fix an error on your report
Consumer Complaint: XX/XX/XXXX I requested that the ( Chapter XXXX Bankruptcy Acct # XXXX ) be removed due to non-verification that this account belongs to me. Per FCRA section 609 ( a ) 2 the credit bureau is obligated by law to disclose to me the source they are claiming to have verified that this account belongs to me. FCRA states that the furnisher of the debt is the only person or entity that can verify that the debt belongs to the debtor. In this case that would be the United States Bankruptcy Court XXXX District of Wisconsin. I have proof via postal correspondence dated XX/XX/XXXX, from U.S. Bankruptcy Court Clerk, XXXX XXXX XXXX that the court " does not report information to any credit agency. '' Lexis Nexis is required by law to provide me the Business name, address, and phone number of the source they verified this account with. I was not provided that I have only been told that from Lexis Nexis, that they are not held by the same guidelines as Credit Bureaus. Which is untrue due to the fact that the FCRA Acts states that they are held to the same reporting laws as the Credit Bureaus. This does not constitute as a Proper Investigation, I need the name of the business, the address, and the phone number of the person Lexis Nexis verified this information with. Third party credit reporting agency information is not considered the original furnisher of the debt. I have submitted proof to Lexis Nexis that the original furnisher of this debt states that it " does not report information to any credit agency. '' Please delete this unverified account immediately. XXXX was reporting this same account and after receiving the proof of this letter from the U.S. Bankruptcy courts, they deleted the unverified account immediately.

Consumer Complaint: Lexis Nexus is reporting a Chapter XXXX Bankruptcy on to all 3 credit bureaus although I submitted to them a letter from Georgia 's Bankruptcy Clerk of Court to them on XX/XX/XXXX stating that I do not have bankruptcy in my name. I have spoken to Lexis Nexus on XX/XX/XXXX at which time the representative was unable to verify their records because they started the dispute and by XX/XX/XXXX they Lexis Nexus was still trying to verify the bankruptcy. According to her it takes up to 30 for their investigation to be complete which gives them up to XX/XX/XXXX to be complete. However on XX/XX/XXXX Lexis Nexus verified this account with XXXX Credit Bureau although they were not able to provide me with verification. This is a violation of FCRA Section 609.

Consumer Complaint: I have filed two credit disputes with LexisNexis in regard to a bankruptcy being reported on my consumer credit Public Records profile. My last certified dispute letter was dated XX/XX/2020. I requested that they provide me the original documentation bearing my signature and method of verification for this public record and all associated accounts or promptly delete. LexisNexis responded to my first request. The response letter was dated XX/XX/2020. LexisNexis stated on page 1 the following, " We are unable to process your request at this time, additional identification information required to process your request. '' a blank form to get my personal information at the same time they sent me a copy of my credit file if they didn't have my information it doesn't make sense they sent me a whole credit report file. I know for sure that LEXISNEXIS failure to provide reasonable procedures used to verify this alleged Bankruptcy account is a violation of the Fair Credit Reporting Act. I sent a letter to the US BANKRUPTCY COURT in XXXX, GA on XX/XX/2020 and they have provided me with confirmation that they do NOT supply information to credit reporting agencies, a letter postmarked on XX/XX/2020. There are several violations of the FCRA in this case and anything but permanent deletion from my credit profiles would be a violation of my civil rights.

Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/2020 I disputed with a third party Lexis Nexis on a Bankruptcy that they claim was verified through their office. I sent them a letter asking to have the bankruptcy information verified. I received a letter from Lexis Nexis stating that Bankruptcy record # XXXX was verified through another third party name XXXX. I have a letter from the Eastern District Court Clerks office that they " the court '' does not report, validate or confirm bankruptcy case filings to credit bureaus. But yet Lexis Nexis states that they were able to validate with XXXX another third party and not the actual court who would be the original creditor. Furthermore you have failed to provide the method of verification as requires under Section 611 ( a ) ( 7 ). Please be advised that under Section 611 ( 5 ) ( A ) of the FCRA you are required to " Promptly DELETE all information which can not be verified. '' I fully intend to pursue litigation in accordance with the FCRA to enforce my rights and seek relief and recover all monetary damages that I may be entitled to under Section 616 and Section 617 regarding your continued willful and negligent noncompliance. As a large company Lexis Nexis has been allowed to bully the consumer with falsely selling information to companies like XXXX and XXXX and they have partnered up with XXXX. Consumers rely on credit to purchase homes and to obtain anything that they may need for daily living and companies rip consumers apart with their lies. Your attention to this matter is greatly appreciated

Consumer Complaint: I mailed dispute letters in XX/XX/2020 pointing out factual inaccuracies in the ChXXXX Bankruptcy being reported. After getting a response of updated or verified, I sent another letter in XX/XX/2020, pointed out inaccuracies again, asked for deletion and their method of verification and the documentation received from the original creditors to validate their reporting, which is inaccurate, and they did not provide specific verification information or any supporting documentation within the required timeline. I mailed another letter in XXXX, and another again in XXXX informing Lexisnexis to delete once again, noted the factual inaccuracies in reporting, and informed them I will be reporting to CFPB.

Consumer Complaint: To whom it may concern, My name is XXXX XXXX and I am writing to you about an entry listed on my credit report which I have tried to have removed. Apparently, someone with the name as mine filed bankruptcy in XXXX Alabama and it appeared on my credit report. Through the credit bureaus, I filed a dispute stating that someone with the same name had filed this public record and it was not mine. Unfortunately, it came back verified by your company Lexis Nexis and it is still listed on my credit report. Frustrated, I decided to contact the Bankruptcy Court myself and they informed me that they do not provide any credit bureau and information relating to any bankruptcy cases. As you well know it is a violation of the Fair Credit Reporting Act to report erroneous information on credit reports. I ask that you remove it immediately and notify their credit bureaus of this mistake. I also request a letter that can be emailed to me by stating this fact. Thanks, I am attaching both a letter from the court and a letter from your company stating that I am not even in your database. I also attached the letter from the Bankruptcy Court and driver 's license. Also. If you need proof that there is someone with the same name as me in the same state with the same birthday, I have attached that too. I am neither XXXX or married as this profile says.

Consumer Complaint: Im reaching out because, I continually tried disputing fraudulent and erroneous accounts and personal information directly with the credit bureaus to remove them from my credit profile. The keep saying that the Lexis Nexus and providing them with the information. I have contacted them and they are saying my records are frozen and that no information is being sent from them. I contacted the court and they stated they don't even report to credit. It clear that one of these companies is lying. Especially since the credit bureaus were initially provided with documentation of an affidavit to report the identity theft. I work over the road as a truck driver and me and my father share the same first and last name even our our middle name starts with the same letter. I did not receive any response to the information provided. When I called I was advise to resubmit the information. This issue is continuing to destroy my identity. They ALL have failed to do my investigation in full and delete ALL the remaining fraudulent accounts on my credit file. In addition, Due to failure in NOT responding is an automatic FCRA violation of them not properly handing my dispute. I am just ready for this nightmare to be over with!
