Consumer Complaint: Under the Fair Credit Reporting Act ( FCRA ) sections 602 ( a ), 6801, and 1681, consumer reporting agencies like Equifax and XXXX must handle their duties fairly, impartially, and respect consumer privacy. As a consumer, I have the right to prevent sharing of my private data without consent, as stated in 15 USC 6801. 15 USC 1681 section 604 ( a ) ( 2 ) mandates that consumer reports can only be furnished with the consumer 's written instructions. Financial institutions, considered furnishers of information to credit agencies, must respect customer privacy as per 15 USC 6802 ( b ) ( c ). The FCRA prohibits disclosure of nonpublic personal information without informing consumers of their nondisclosure options ( 15 USC 6802 ( b ) ( c ) ). Equifax and XXXX failed to inform me of this right. According to 15 USC 1681C ( a ) ( 5 ), consumer reporting agencies can not include adverse information without authorization, violating the seven-year reporting limit.
