Issue: Getting a credit card
Subissue: Card opened as result of identity theft or fraud
Consumer Complaint: I feel like my life has been completely destroyed. Someone opened up a fraudulent credit card with DISCOVER in my name and accumulated all types of charges. I noticed the cards within my credit report in XX/XX/2018. I disputed the accounts and it was removed from my credit report after a thorough investigation. Now 4 months later the account has popped back up into my credit report from Discover Financial and dropped my credit score over 200 points. Ive disputed this account more than once and its been successfully removed and it continues to come back. I'm devastated right now. Contacting the FTC & CFPB was a last resort. PLEASE HELP ME GET THIS ISSUSE ALL CLEANED UP ....

Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/XXXX, Discover closed my savings and two credit card accounts without any reason. At that time, I still have over {$80000.00} balance in that savings account. I have to call discover to ask them what happened and they told me that my online accounts were just deleted and they can not recover them at all. I have to register a new online account to access my savings account and the customer service of Discover did not know why this account was closed! I have been holding the credit card accounts for more than 5 years and the savings account for 4 years and have never violated any of Discover 's rules. I know they used to close customer 's credit card accounts for no reason. But what I can not accept is that they even closed my savings account without any reason and notice, especially when I still have {$80000.00} in that savings account!

Issue: Problem with a purchase shown on your statement
Subissue: Card was charged for something you did not purchase with the card
Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/2019, I discovered that several thousand dollars ' worth of charges had been made on my Discover debit card. I reported them. On XX/XX/2019, I received a call from Discover dispute investigations who asked me a few questions and told me I should file a police report. I asked for the information they had and a supervisor named XXXX told me he would send me all of the documents. I never received any documents at all. On XX/XX/2019, Discover decided that the charges were valid even though it is impossible that I made them. I asked for proof and they can't provide me with any proof or documents. The burden is on them to prove that I made these charges and they will not show me what they are using to justify the decision that I made them ( most likely because there is no evidence ). Now my account is overdrawn and I can not pay my bills or book necessary business travel because of this. The Deposit Agreement says I have zero liability for fraud.

Consumer Complaint: I am writing in regard to the charge off accounts on my credit report for my Discover card. On XXXX XXXX I agreed to pay the lender with the assurance that it will be removed off my credit report, a " pay for deletion ''. I have had a constant battle with lender honoring their part of the settlement. I am requesting that this account be removed. It has now been over 45 days since requesting lenders to delete this account, the request was delivered XX/XX/XXXX through USPS Certified Mail, with no response. The lender have responded to letters in the past stating that the account is accurate, and I advised them I am not denying it. I understand that this account is valid, but I paid this account with the promise of the deletions. I fell behind XX/XX/XXXX, six years ago, because my mother was diagnosed with XXXX and had to take care of her. I then settled on XX/XX/XXXX, four years ago and since then I have been dealing with this burden. I paid for deletion, I did the right thing, rather than just waiting seven years for it to fall off. Since then, I have gotten all my finances in order and paid every account on time without a blunder. I am trying to provide for my family and purchase a home for us and this has had a major impact. Please help me be able to provide for my family.

Consumer Complaint: Discover has charged me, multiple times, for the same purchases. I have paid for these purchases, but they continue to charge me for them. Also, I disputed a charge, based on the quality of the purchase not being as guaranteed. They denied my dispute. I have since closed my account, but they continue to charge interest on the account.

Issue: Advertising and marketing, including promotional offers
Subissue: Didn't receive advertised or promotional terms
Consumer Complaint: First phone call : I called to confirm promo and what credit bureau is used since my credit is frozen They answered my question. The promo he had said " It is in an ongoing promo '' which means to me, that it is running, and something they always have. To Discover this means that it is something they sometimes have. Very misleading. I call because one of the credit bureaus was unable to be un-frozen. I called they ran a different and approved prior to this again verified the promotion. I did not have time to do the balance transfer at that time. I call after work to setup balance transfer. I'm told it is a 14 month promo, not 18 as promised on their website. They are not willing to honor the promo. They have since pulled my credit, approved a line of credit for something that I do not want to use as there are other options for me at 18 months. If I wanted something shorter I wouldn't have opened a new line and used a line of credit i currently have. They want me to fax the screen shot. I do not have access to a fax. I sent the link to the promo to them via XXXX messenger. Due to account security they refuse to forward to the manager required. It is not account information. It is a direct link to their site showing the promotion. I asked to talk to a higher manager and they are refusing. They are insisting on things they can't do instead of what they can. This is the digital age. I should be able to do this all via e-mail. How am I supposed to fax a link? They can't click on it. This could have all been resolved, but they insist on dragging it out. This is very poor business practice. Especially saying it is an " ongoing promotion '' What does that mean to you? Means to me that it is something that is available all the time. My credit has thus been pulled based on the information they have provided. This I am not able to undo and now is a negative impact on my credit score.
