Consumer Complaint: We have been a member of the Discover credit card company since XXXX and have never had a late charge payment. We have a XXXX line of credit with them which has never been used. Yesterday we were notified of a late fee of {$27.00} and an interest fee of {$5.00} based on a claim that the company did not receive our last payment of {$310.00} which we sent on XX/XX/XXXX ahead of schedule. We received a phone call notifying us of a non-receipt of payment for the above on, XX/XX/XXXX and a new bill showing the charges on the following day, XX/XX/XXXX. During the phone call we repaid the bill plus charges from our bank account to settle the dispute. Why did Discover wait nearly a month to inform us of the non- payment when obviously they knew about it earlier? During the call we reviewed our 27 year history of prompt payments, offered a carbon copy of the paid check and relayed the information that the handful of bills sent at the same time were received. Could it be that Discover was trying to eliminate us because of low volume of activity in our later years and the nuisance of using the mail? Attached please find a copy of the original paid bill, a carbon copy of the payment check and a copy of the new bill. Thank you in advance for your help.

Issue: Advertising and marketing, including promotional offers
Subissue: Confusing or misleading advertising about the credit card
Consumer Complaint: Discover Company has been constantly sending me promotions and pre-approvals. I have a good standing credit score and have been getting an insane amount of predatory pre-approvals from the aforementioned company. I have finally decided to give in and apply for their credit card to be denied. While my understanding is that the pre-approvals do not mean guaranteed approvals of lines of credit afterwards, this type of predatory marketing behavior where a company gathers data out of hard credit pulls and markets heavily only to then negatively impact the consumer is a form of undjust enrichment and goes against " in good faith business ''. I have tried reaching out to the company to contact the credit bureas to get the inquiry removed, but they denied so. In the name of the consumer financial protection.
