Issue: Struggling to repay your loan

Subissue: Can't get other flexible options for repaying your loan

Consumer Complaint: XXXX reversed loan back to AES in the amount of XXXX on XX/XX/XXXX. I received letter from XXXX on XX/XX/XXXX that I was 60 pass due on my AES loan. I called XXXX immediately. We had a conference call to AES. They refuse to mail me anything since I was enrolled paperless option back in XXXX. I could not login to online account. There was issue with my legal name but it was important to them to upholding paperless option. Withholding information about loan as it was accruing interest. AES told me the only thing they could do was to put my loan into forebearance. I would need to mail them proof of ID before I could access loan online. XXXX recommended that I call them back afterwards to consolidate loan. That I should try to pay the accrued interest. Once I could logon to my account the accrued interest was unaffordable to me. As I tried many times to get help from AES to roll back balance to XXXX since only receiving letter from XXXX on XX/XX/XXXX informing me to call AES. This loan has skyrocketed way beyond original amount after 9 years of paying it down. I want to consolidate loan balance but not until AES corrects the balance on loan. This problem was created by AES refusing to inform when loan was reinstated by mail, giving me the run around about paperless option, and locking me out of my account.

Issue: Problem with a credit reporting company's investigation into an existing problem

Subissue: Investigation took more than 30 days

Consumer Complaint: I had made a non-typical student loan payment via " phone '' in XX/XX/XXXX. Apparently, what I had discovered was that my original phone payment transaction did not properly post to my student loan account. The transaction did NOT post for lack of funds in my bank account but rather an error on the creditor 's part. Eventually, I was told by an AES representative, the debit card did not process correctly due to possible transposed digits It was listed in the AES system as, Per Debit Split Card Not in Network. In turn, per AES 's policy, they do not make any immediate attempts via phone or email to notify their barrowers that the payment transaction did not properly post because of such a transaction error. AES never made any immediate attempt to notify me that there was an error on the card payment but rather let this error sit and stagnate. With today 's technology, it's interesting how such immediate notifications via text, phone and borrower 's personal emails are so readily available for such issues that AES still remains to rely so heavily on their AES website inbox and/or U.S. mail. On XX/XX/XXXX, I then made the second transaction of {$15.00} plus my regular monthly payment of {$46.00} to correct their card payment error. At the time, I stated to the AES representative being a long-time borrower XXXX XX/XX/XXXX XXXX that my only concern was that this error does not negatively impact my credit rating. The rep assuring me that any negative reporting would not happen. The end result was that AES reported a 30-day late payment to all the three credit bureaus. I have the enclosed my dispute document that I sent to American Education Services XX/XX/XXXX for your review. Thank you, XXXX XXXX

Issue: Dealing with your lender or servicer

Subissue: Keep getting calls about your loan

Consumer Complaint: American Education Services continues to make harrassing phone calls to my house, sometimes inappropriately in the early morning. Even after customer service has repeatedly assured they will stop calling my number, the harrassing phone calls do not stop. I would like to be put on their Do Not Call list.

Subissue: Received bad information about your loan

Consumer Complaint: When consolidating my loans from a private provider, Fedloan rolled them over in parts, then charged me to consolidate, resulting in additional fees. Agents refuse to acknowledge or address this in any way. Formally, I was a government employed teacher that qualified for loan forgiveness. None of my qualifying payments were entered. I have since quit teaching as I no longer trust this program. In addition, I have asked repeatedly over the last couple months for information regarding the percentage of interest charged on loans and they refuse to provide this information. I was sent statements days after each time I reach out that include only an overview, but not the information I requested. The first and last issue I would like addressed ASAP so I am not over charged as I pay off these loans.

Consumer Complaint: One student loan was transferred to AES/PHEAA in XXXX, in the amount of {$33000.00} ( see attached ). Over the years AES reporting became inaccurate and loan was duplicated within the AES account. I have tried repeatedly to have the duplicated loan removed. My latest efforts began again in XXXX, XXXX. ( see attached ). I was initially assured the duplicate would be removed within 10 days. This has not happened. I contacted two PHEAA Executives, AES customer service, the AES Omnbudsman, and the Federal Ombudsman with no success. In a more egregious foul-up AES/PHEAA just QUADRUPLED the amount allegedly owed and reported same to the credit reporting agencies ( see attache ) so the amount owed now shows as $ XXXX plus. I want the account audited, the duplicate amounts removed, and credit for any incorrect interest charged, and for any payments made.

Consumer Complaint: I was enrolled in school and AES didnt update their records until 3 months after enrollment. I was told that it would be backdated and my late payments would be removed. They were not. I was never late ever in my 11 years of having student loans beside them marking 30,60, and 90 days late on a loan despite me being enrolled in school. Ive tried to dispute with AES and have received no response or failure to accurately update credit file. I am unable to get a mortgage because of it.

Subissue: Their investigation did not fix an error on your report

Consumer Complaint: How are you? During this COVID-19 i been diligently reviewing my credit and I was shocked when I reviewed my credit report and found late payment on XX/XX/XXXX 90 days lates. I am not sure how this happened, I believe that I had made my payments to you when I received my statements. My only thought is that my monthly statement did not get to me, or the payment was not applied as fast as expected. I check my bank account and noticed that you deducted the money out of my checking account that on the month that you marked me late on my credit report.

Issue: Dealing with your lender or servicer

Subissue: Problem with customer service

Consumer Complaint: Wednesday XX/XX/2020 Concern : Public Service Loan Forgiveness qualifying payments Amount qualifying : 64 Amount remaining : 56 Need : 120 to get wiped To have my federal student loans wiped, I have to make 120 qualifying payments. So far, I have worked in public schools as a full-time special educator for 7 years. There was one period from XXXX where I had a forbearance because I was in graduate school, so those months did not count. I have worked 1 year in XXXX, 3 years in XXXX, and just finished my third year in XXXX. I have been on the phone with PSLF for over 20 hours in the past 7 years because there have been numerous clerical or computer errors, one of which they lost 16 of my qualifying payments, which equates to a year and of what counts towards wiping my loans. The agent I spoke with today was not only unsympathetic, he was rude and disregarded my questions. I was viewing my statement online and questioned some of the XXXX payments and XXXX, where now instead of my 36 payments its down to 31. The manner in which he responded was extremely rude and lacking any form of customer service skills. Each time I call to inquire and check up on my loan status, I receive different answers from different agents. The previous agent said I only had 28 more months of qualifying payments and I would be done, now it says 56. The incompetence and lack of compassion with the customer service agent only causes more frustration regarding my loans ever being forgiven.
