Consumer Complaint: I am writing to file a formal complaint against TransUnion for the failure to conduct a reasonable reinvestigation into inaccuracies on my credit report, as required by the Fair Credit Reporting Act ( FCRA ). My dispute, sent on XX/XX/, requested an investigation into the following items : XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXXXXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX. Additionally, I disputed incorrect names and addresses listed on my credit report. To assist in verifying my identity, I enclosed a copy of my photo ID, social security card, and a recent bill reflecting my current address. This dispute was sent via USPS certified mail with tracking number # XXXX. However, I received a response from TransUnion dated XXXX stating : We recently received a request that included your information, but it didn't appear that you or a properly authorized third party sent it to us. We take the privacy and security of your data very seriously, so we won't process requests unless they come directly from you or an authorized third party. This response indicates a failure on TransUnion 's part to recognize a dispute initiated by the consumer, as mandated by the FCRA. The Act explicitly states that if the completeness or accuracy of any item in a consumer 's file is disputed, the credit bureau must conduct a reasonable reinvestigation to determine whether the disputed information is inaccurate. I am providing copies of my dispute letter, USPS certified mail proof of delivery, and TransUnion 's response as proof of my attempts to rectify the inaccuracies on my credit report.
