Issue: Problems at the end of the loan or lease
Subissue: Problem with paying off the loan
Consumer Complaint: I 've been paying my car loan for at least the last 4 years. With a maturity date of XXXX/XXXX/2018, I calculated that on my current monthly payments, I would still owe over {$1600.00} on the loan. After contacting the bank, the explanation given was n't clear, making me think there would be a " balloon payment '' at maturity. If so, it was n't explained to me when the loan was issued. Even though I 've requested 2 extensions during the life of the loan, I do n't think the fees + interest would come close to {$1600.00}.

Issue: Struggling to pay your loan
Subissue: Loan balance remaining after the vehicle is repossessed and sold
Consumer Complaint: I co-signed for a loan on a used car with the auto loaner Santander. The head of the account became defaulted on the loan against my knowledge. I never received any correspondence from Santander regarding this unpaid car payment. The car was later repossessed and I did not receive any notices regarding reinstating the loan or the sale of the vehicle. No notice of default, no notice of redemption/reinstatement, no notice of sale and to this day, still no notices of post-sale deficiency. Had I known anything about this going on with the account I could 've tried to avoid the repossession all together. Now this deficiency is on my credit report. I still have not received any written correspondence from Santander. Pulling my credit report is the only proof I have of the deficiency. Because of Santander 's failure to contact me, I am now being held liable for the deficiency at no fault of mine because I was not aware of the defaulted loan, the repossession or the sale of the vehicle. I am pretty sure Santander will try to come up with something to fight my complaint. I would like for them to please provide a signed copy of the initial contract, copies of the legal notices sent out regarding this account and proof of the resale of the subject vehicle.
