Issue: Problem with a credit reporting company's investigation into an existing problem
Subissue: Their investigation did not fix an error on your report
Consumer Complaint: I submitted a dispute with XXXX about a paid and closed account with Santander Consumer USA. The account was paid in full and closed but was showing as open with no reporting of payment for 60 days. Due to this, I was denied a mortgage. After calling Santander, I was given a paid in full letter and told to dispute the information with the credit bureaus. I complied and submitted the letter from the company, payment confirmation numbers and emails for the total balance in question. The results came back today that Santander certified the wrong information as correct. I called them immediately and they said that was impossible because my account is closed. Also, if I have and submitted documented proof, someone at the credit bureau should have at least looked at it. They clearly did not. If consumers are reporting a creditor for reporting false information ( especially more than once ) why would the bureau automatically take their word and not really investigate it. Ive let it go for years and accepted the results but this is actually costing me opposed its wrong.

Consumer Complaint: My credit score was just damaged by 109 points because Santander Consumer is falsely reporting amounts! This keeps getting worse with this company, they now say I owe {$200000.00} on a {$20000.00} auto loan that is in arbitration as I file this complaint. This company has been the bane of my existence. Now they are filing false claims about me to hurt my credit right after I have filed to put them in arbitration.

Consumer Complaint: My car was totaled in an accident in 2018. Santander was paid in full I went to purchase a new car and found out they were claiming I hadn't made a payment in months. I reached out and they claimed they were not paid off. I provided proof they were and they said that they weren't paid off through the " proper channels '' so I needed to pay them the remainder of the loan. Which I did not agree to and I disputed it with all three credit reporting companies. I was unsuccessful. After a year of fighting with them, I agreed to pay the remainder of the loan AGAIN just to have it removed they then said no. They stated that they would accept the money but not report it as paid off since it was not done in a timely manner. So here we are three years later, they are on my credit report as a charge off and a repossession, This is hindering my life and mental status.

Consumer Complaint: Not only did they add fees such as GAP ins and Vehicle Theft, I feel I was a victim of predator lending, as well. I made {$11.00} an hour and was given a {$21000.00} with a credit score in the XXXX low XXXX. They also made me pay an additional {$10.00} every time I made an online payment to them. They also, reported to the credit bureaus that I was late when I was not not late. They also charged me late fees when they they shouldnt have. I have defaulted several times on this loan. I have spoken to them multiple times regarding all of these issues, but they tell me I am not part of the AG lawsuit settlement and theres nothing I could do. I just now tried to log into my account to get my account number and a notification popped up stating my account has been locked due to to many failed attempts, but I only attempted the one time and havent logged in in weeks. They blocked me from viewing my account!

Consumer Complaint: my wife was a co-signer on an automobile and received a XXXX XXXX XXXX to correct the problem and costs me to pay taxes on $ XXXX.This car was a lemon law by federal standards and Chrysler paid it off. Fortunately, however, the Internal Revenue Service takes a logical view of forgiven debt for co-signers. Treasury Regulation Sec. 1.6050P-1 ( 7 ) says that for purposes of filing, " a guarantor is not a debtor. '' It differentiates between those who get the benefit of a loan and those who guarantee its repayment. You are a guarantor, and so you should be off the hook. After many attempts to resolve this issue, I have decided Santana ( XXXX ) refuses to correct their mistake. Chrysler capital sent us a letter this account was paid in full XXXX title XXXX

Consumer Complaint: On or about XX/XX/XXXX, a class action lawsuit settlement was announced by XXXX state attorneys general after a multistate investigation found Santander was engaging in subprime lending practices. Santander Consumer USA provided me with a car loan on or about { XX/XX/XXXX }. This car loan agreement contained unreasonable terms and was a product of unethical and dishonest business practices by Santander. Given these facts, I request that Santander : I. remove late-payment and repossession information from my credit report. II. forgive my repossession deficiency. III. notify debt buyer/collection Agency to cease debt collection activity against me ; and IV. notify debt buyer to return any monies collected from me. Other states have already ordered restitution from Santander to their affected constituents. I will give you 30 days from the date of this letter to provide the requested remedy or I will use all remedies available to me under the law to ensure that I am made whole. Thank you for your anticipated voluntary cooperation in this matter.

Consumer Complaint: I was targeted by an auto loan lender Sandtander Bank with predatory lending ( Extremely high interest rates for people with less than perfect credit that live in impoverished and low income neighborhoods ). The auto loan account was promised to be removed from my account and forgiven after 2 plus years of ownership, but this has not been done as of yet ... even after multiple attempts to reach Santander. I also tried contacting the lender through the credit reporting agencies, but my claims were not addressed directly. I received generic respnses that did not specifically address my complaint. Moreover, Santander bank was sued and lost the case for this same reason ( predatory lending ). All of the documents pertaining to this settlement/lawsuit was in fact mailed to the 3 credit bureaus with certified mail. I will 100 % admit that I was actually happy to get the financing initially bc I was badly in need of a car for work, and the payments seemed mangeable to me at the time. In any event, soon after i feel behind on the payments and realized after speaking to other people that I was being charged over 10 times what the majority of other people in the US pay on auto loan interest. And, my rate is close to 30 % annually. This account is destroying my credit and ultimately my life experience. NOT TO MENTION THAT THE CAR WAS A LEMON. HAVENT BEEN ABLE TO DRIVE IT IN OVER A YEAR. Please help. Thank you.
