Consumer Complaint: Hi CFPB, thank you for your help in advance. Starting XXXX, 2021, I started to contact debt collector Portfolio Recovery to settle debt. Attached is copy of their email for lump sum settlement amount. This amount is already paid. The money already cleared from my bank. I disputed this with the credit reporting agency XXXX. I checked today XXXX. My credit report has been updated INACCURATELY. Portfolio agreed to accept less than the full amount to satisfy the full amount of debt but they are reporting my debt only paid 50 %. Therefore my report still indicate that I still owe 50 %. This is not what I agreed. Also, my understanding is that Portfolio will remove the tradeline from my credit report. So not only is Portfolio reporting this account inaccurately, they are still reporting it. This inaccuracy is harming me and my family. I am unable to co-sign for my kids ' student loans because of this inaccurate derogatory account. Please help me correct this. Thank you.

Consumer Complaint: PORTFOLIO RC has failed to validate that this account is reporting maximum possible accuracy per the FCRA. I have initiated several attempts through the credit bureaus and collection agencies to have this account validated and has not received a response and I have reason to believe that reasonable procedures were not conducted on these accounts due to the current violations I have found as if relates to my credit profile and unverified accounts also XXXX is reporting the date of last activity as XXXX XXXX is reportingXX/XX/XXXXIt is a violation to re-age a collection account How can a disputed be resolved if the customer disagrees, who resolved the disputed account, no reasonable procedure was performed it is a violation to my rights to claim that an account has been resolved if I didnt resolve it and its still reporting inaccurately 605 ( c ) running if the period has also been violated as the date of last activity on this account is reporting. When it should reflect the last date a payment was made. This company has continuously failed to validate this collection account further violating FDCPA 809b per the FTC opinion.

Consumer Complaint: This company has admitted to being a Debt Buyer this company is also a debt collector pursuant to 15 USC 1692a ( 6 ) defined as ANY PERSON who uses instrumentality of interstate commerce. As a private consumer natural person who is federally protected I have been violated. This company has admitted to committing fraud and aggravated identity theft by acting on my behalf with my data pursuant to 18 USC 1028 and 18 USC 1029. They brought my data from a defaulted note purchased from XXXX XXXXXXXX on XXXX of XXXX buying defaulted notes is a violation of UCC 9-110 and UCC 2-401.They continue to use the Credit Reporting Agency 's to furnish a deceptive form on my report to make it seem as if there is a debt owed which is a violation of 15 USC 1692J. Apparently this company is a third party debt collector who unlawfully and illegally brought a defaulted note. Pursuant to 15 USC 1692c I never gave this company permission directly or indirectly to communicate with me. This company admitted to NOT having a contract with me. They can produce a contract as there is none. This company has used my data without authorized use which is a violation of 15 USC 1602P to furnish a deceptive form to make me believe a debt is owed which is a violation of 15 USC 1692J. This company has committed fraud through the mail and by Credit Reporting Agencies stating I owe a debt that is discharged which is a violation of 15 USC 1692B ( 2 ). This company has used deceptive means like letters and using the CRA 's to communicate and furnish fraudulent information with my data to coerce me into paying a debt which is a violation of 15 USC 1692E ( 10 ). CNAC has admitted to them buying my defaulted note from XXXX XXXX This company also said their complaint that on XX/XX/XXXX they sent documents but I have not received those documents. This company has a Cease and Desist and is using the CRAs as a form of communication which they are defined as a form of communication in Title 15 of the United States Codes ; I demanded to cease all forms of communication.

Consumer Complaint: I am a victim of identity theft. i filed necessary reports with police and ftc. I contacted this company multiple times and even disputed the account with the credit reporting agencies. I even filed a complaint through this portal before! it led to portfolio recovery associates sending me a validation letter with my name on it with bill from the original creditor that were sent to an address I never lived it. they never produced any documents with my signature, Identification or anything. Ive never even had the phone number associated with the account.

Consumer Complaint: I tried to call all three bureau 's and the company, i even wrote numerous of letters to explain that this is not my account. i asked the company to provide proof of contract and they keep sending me a bill, which is not my bill? A bill does not show proof that i signed a document. I have not supplied proof under the doctrine of estoppel by silence, XXXX XXXX XXXX ( MO ) XXXX XXXX XXXX, I may presume that no proof of the alleged debt, nor therefore any such debt, in fact exists. I know my rights and they are trying to make me pay a debt that does not belong to me. The credit companies sent me someone else 's credit report a while back so what makes me believe they are not mixing me up with this person again.

Consumer Complaint: This is XXXX XXXX and XXXX XXXX We offered {$280.00} on the collection account and they refused. They want between {$500.00} and {$650.00} to cover a {$750.00} debt and this is too much. We want to pay if but to be fair to both parties. We are elderly ladies that are co executors of the will and there was little money to cover the expenses and we did promise to try to cover all of his debt. We fell short because this company will not work with us. XXXX was a XXXX vet and XXXX that incurred a lot of medical debt in his last year. He loaned someone money that wrong bad checks to cover the loan and that was unfortunate.

Consumer Complaint: This complaint is regarding account information below that has not been investigated and no information given. Its been over 2 months with no information given to me regarding these accounts. I have no knowledge of these companies and they shouldnt be reporting as I never gave permission for the reporting per Section 1681a -I sent correspondence to the Credit Bureaus regarding this. I was never notified in writing per 15 U.S.C 1692ag prior to accounts being on my credit report, within 5 days. Moreover, these accounts violate debt collections, abusive and unfair practices per section 1692f ( 1 ) adding additional amounts.

Consumer Complaint: I was served by the court in XXXX of XXXX for a debt that Portfolio Recovery services says that I owe. I had a mediation with them about the debt in XXXX of XXXX and have disputed this debt plenty of times from my credit report in previous years saying that this account did not belong to me. The original company was XXXX XXXX. Portfolio only sent me copies of statements that listed my previous address in which I do not live there anymore. They told me that the account was charged off in XXXX or XXXX of XXXX. They only provided 2 statements that had my previous address on it showing that I made a payment of XXXX in XXXX of XXXX. I went back to my bank statements of that year and there is no record of any such payments. The man from Portfolio says that its burden of proof because they have my name and an address that I used to live at. I asked for an original contract that shows where I signed for this debt and he told me that they didnt have to provide that and that they have everything they needed to proceed to take me to court. I dont even know the original date that this account has supposedly originated.
