Consumer Complaint: Portfolio Recovery is attempting to collect a debt from me that I do not owe. They list the original creditor as XXXX XXXX with a balance of {$720.00} from account number XXXX. I have not owed a debt to XXXX XXXX, and I do not have a debt obligation to Portfolio Recovery Associates. I have requested validation of this debt from Portfolio Recovery and they have not provided validation. It has been more than 30 days since the second request. There is no contractual agreement between me and these parties that I owe the alleged debt or that there has ever been any transaction between me and these parties that created a {$720.00} debt obligation. Portfolio Recovery is refusing to validate the debt by producing the document bearing my signature that has created the obligation to pay them {$720.00}.

Consumer Complaint: I received a copy of my consumer credit report and realized that Portfolio Recovery Association of XXXX, VA has reported an alleged debt to my credit report. This company is practicing abusive, deceptive, and unfair debt practices pursuant to 15 USC 1692g ( a ) 1-5. This alleged debt not only is reported to my credit report, but has been sold a total of 14 times to other 3rd parties. I never gave them per, mission to report any type of allege debt to credit report. This has hurt my credit score tremendously. This alleged debt has been sold and reported 14 times which is a total of 14 violations and this is why I am filing this complaint. I appreciate the cfpb for protecting consumers from these unethical, abusive practices. I look forward to hearing from someone about this matter, because something needs to be done. This type of abusive practices can hinder people from getting the things they need to provide for their family, because someone has reported an allege debt. If someone did that to them they would not like it. Thank you and I look forward to hearing from someone.

Consumer Complaint: I am a consumer, a natural person. My rights have been repeatedly violated by Portfolio Recovery XXXX, XXXX. I have been HARRASED REPEATEDLY by THEM especially after filing a CFPB complaint. I do not owe the alleged debt! I have sent them repeated letters and was even summons to court on XX/XX/XXXX which I attended. I told them that I do not owe the alleged debt to Lawyer XXXX XXXX who WAS Not cooperative at all and I was given another date to appear in court for XX/XX/XXXX. On XX/XX/XXXX I received a letter from their XXXX Department stating that I did NOT APPEAR in court which is not TRUE which is a violation of U.S Code 1692e ( 10 ) this is a deceptive means to collect the alleged debt and a violation of 15 U.S. Code 1692e ( 5 ) they can not threaten me telling me I am in default when I was in court on XX/XX/XXXX! I am attaching both documents. THIS IS HARASSMENT according to 15 U.S. Code 1692d! This company has caused me nothing BUT Stress and has made me ILL. I have an XX/XX/XXXXXXXX and as a result of this abuse and unfair practices, I have had to get on medication after years of not being on any. Further, more I am alleging that the attorneys at Portfolio Recovery all private lawyers pursuant to 28 USC 3002 1 ( B ), I do not believe they are even authorized in accordance with section 3718 of Title 31 to conduct litigation for the collection of debts on behalf of the United States. If they are, I need them PROVE IT! I had to create a separate report because there is no option to add information for an existing case.

Issue: Attempts to collect debt not owed
Subissue: Debt is not yours
Consumer Complaint: Portfolio Recovery Associates, LLC has been sending me notices in the mail for a few years now about a XXXX debt that is not mine. They keep saying they will be collecting {$76.00} from account ending in XXXX. The next payment is supposed to be XX/XX/XXXX of 2022 but the account is not mine because the debt is not mine. I filed a complaint already through this site years ago and I'm sick of getting the notices. I contacted them by phone and let them know I was not the holder of this debt but they are apparently too incompetent to actually collect the debt. Seems pretty important that a debt collection company would know how to actually collect the debt... .but that's just me.
