Consumer Complaint: I contacted Portfolio Recovery XXXX XXXX on XX/XX/2022. I spoke with their representative XXXX XXXX. We agreed to settle the following account : Original Creditor : XXXXXXXX XXXX XXXX Creditor to whom debt is owed : Portfolio Recovery XXXX XXXX Original Balance : {$16000.00} Settlement Agreed Payment : {$10000.00} XXXX paid the settlement agreed payment while on the phone with XXXX XXXX. It cleared my account on XX/XX/XXXX. I've attached the settlement letter and my bank transcript. This past week I got an alert from XXXX that I had a balance change on this account. It lists a partial payment of {$10000.00} and a balance owing of {$5800.00}. I've attached a copy of the report. I spoke with a representative of XXXX XXXX who did not give me a clear answer as to why it was reported this way. The payment I made on this account was a settlement ; not a partial payment. At a minimum this is an error. At the maximum this is unfair and deceptive and a possible violation of the Fair Credit Reporting Act. I ask the CFPB 's help in correcting this.

Consumer Complaint: I disputed the account and ask that they validate this account, and they fail to respond to the action. The law states they have 30 days to do so if not or over the 30 days this account must be removed from the credit file and in this case, they fail to respond to the matter. It has been over 30 days with no response, and I did not open or authorize this account, and I therefore request that it be closed immediately. By the federal law requirement this account must be removed because you do not have proof or any evidence to support this matter and failure to respond.
