Consumer Complaint: I received notice in 2021 that I was in default for a XXXX credit card, I was told it was for a card I had in XXXX. The debt was settled thru a third party several years ago. I no longer have the supporting documentation because its been more than 7 years. Now, this collection agency insists I owe this money and I do not owe it. I find it ridiculous that after all of these years they are trying to get me to pay something that I no longer owe. I want this removed from my credit report.

Consumer Complaint: Portfolio Recovery Associates has been reporting that I owe them money on my credit report. Before this, I have never heard of this company or ever done business with them. I have been writing to both the credit bureau and Portfolio Recovery to have this debt removed from my credit report. In order for this debt to stay on my credit report, Portfolio Recovery continuously approves or update the status that I owe this debt. But how? They have yet to substantiate or validate this debt according to FDCPA requirements. They have not shown any documentation with my signature on it in agreement with their company, They have not shown how they calculated this debt, or even where this debt orginated from with THEIR business.This is unfair and by far detrimental to my credit. They are in violation of both FCRA and FDCPA act.

Consumer Complaint: The CFPB closed my previous two complaints against Portfolio Recovery Associates just because the company responded by the deadline ( even though Portfolio did not successfully refute any of my complaint, they just made vague denials and equivocations ). One of the representations Portfolio made is that it is not engaging in deliberate harassment of me in order to extort money by means of accounts too old to lawfully report on my credit report. They make this claim despite reopening 3 other collections that had aged off my credit report in retaliation the same day as my first CFPB complaint. Now they are fraudulently seeking to collect over 100x the actual amount of the original collection as a means of unlawfully re-listing it on my credit report in order to deliberately damage my credit. They have knowingly done this despite being informed several times that my job is contingent upon my credit reports ( background checks ). They are trying to make it look like I owe over {$310000.00} -- the original collection ( where they at least reported the correct amount ) was {$3100.00}. When will the CFPB take action against this dishonest company that constantly crosses the line and harasses and harms consumers?

Consumer Complaint: I contacted credit bureaus and also Portfolio in both XXXX and XXXX disputing a debt that appeared on my credit report. I asked for validation of the debt, because I believe it to be identity theft. I lived with a woman in XXXX that had access to my mail and could have lent to any charges. I already had illegal accounts made by XXXX XXXX as well, with XXXX. I received notices from Portfolio without any proof of ownership, including statements, original ownership of account information, contracts, etc. I have gone through this multiple times now, and they refuse to delete from the credit reports.

The law states they have 30 days to do so if not or over the 30 days this account must be removed from the credit file and in this case, they fail to respond to the matter. It has been over 30 days with no response, and I did not open or authorize this account, and I therefore request that it be closed immediately. By the federal law requirement this account must be removed because you do not have proof or any evidence to support this matter and failure to respond.
