Consumer Complaint: recovery portfolio has consistently contacted me via phone calls to collect on a closed and written off account. which I have told the advisors that called I am not paying a debt that will not remove the debt from my credit report I initially contacted this company to pay the debt the company informed me that it was in collections and was written off. After viewing my credit report, it was a written off account. once contacted by the collection agency I said this is a written off and closed account therefore I will not pay this account and asked this company to refrain from calling me. and all of this occurred in XXXXXXXX XXXX, I also asked an advisor if in the event I were to pay this account would you remove it from my credit and the advisor stated they would not. therefore, I advised the agent I would not arrange a settlement or pay that written off account due to the original debt holder has insurance and closed the account and wrote it off and was compensated for it. Now once it has been on my report for 7 years it will fall off so I will wait it out. I want this company to cease contacting me concerning a closed and written off account.

Issue: Written notification about debt
Subissue: Didn't receive enough information to verify debt
Consumer Complaint: I disputed by Portfolio Recovery after receiving a debt collection letter from them. I requested a debt validation letter and mailed it by certified mail with tracking information on XX/XX/2022. I received nothing from them. I received an update on XX/XX/2022 saying Consumer information was verified but that I disagreed on XXXX credit report. They have not sent me anything after the dispute. I have copy of the letter they sent me and the letter I mailed to them. No investigation information or nothing. They just went to credit bureau and they updated it. How is this right? I have a right to receive a validation letter from a creditor according to the Fair Debt Act. Also stated that this was not a refusal to pay on the letter mailed to them. I have copies!

During the course of my XXXX XXXX XXXX, the trustee paid a total of {$130.00}. This left a balance of {$350.00} when my case was dismissed. Portfolio Recovery Associates is claiming that the balance is {$600.00}. I have contacted Portfolio Recovery Associates and spoke with multiple representatives who told me I was wrong. I even emailed them a copy of the claim they filed in my XXXX XXXX XXXX, which included the attached FINAL statement from XXXX XXXX. They have the debt listed with all three credit reporting agencies as {$600.00} and refuse to correct it.

Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/XXXX of XXXX Portfolio Recovery Associates , LLC contacted me via telephone and offered a Settlement Agreement at witch point I agreed with the understanding that the company would mail me a stipulation letter to sign and return to avoid going to court. I have been making monthly payments since XX/XX/XXXX. XXXX XXXX emailed me on XX/XX/XXXX with a letter of confirmation that states I have 24 payments of {$71.00}. After the first two payments I called to inquire about the stipulation letter. On XX/XX/XXXX of XXXX I received a order to appear before the judge in XXXX XXXX Texas on XX/XX/XXXX. I have made numerous phone calls since the court summons was mailed to me more currently in the past two weeks I have called Portfolio Recovery requesting the stipulation letter, a supervisor by the name of XXXX finally agreed to email it to me on XX/XX/XXXX and I sent via USPS the signed stipulation letter back to them where it was signed for on the XXXX. I believe they are in direct violation of the Fair Debts Collection Practices Act and are giving me the run around instead of holding up there end of the contact for settlement.
