I'm looking into taking legal action to remove the fallacious account from my credit report immediately! I wanted to see if my dispute could be resolved by taking all necessary steps before taking drastic action.

Consumer Complaint: Portfolio Recovery continues to dismiss my disputes about incorrect information on my credit report which causes me to have a low credit score and difficult obtaining housing, credit and employment. I have filed a dispute numerous times about accounts that they claim are accurate but were not opened by my and are not my debt. Other collections agencies immediately removed my debts when I disputed them as they were also not mine. I was a victim of identity theft and the accounts they are trying to collect on were not opened by me.
