Issue: Attempts to collect debt not owed
Subissue: Debt is not yours
Consumer Complaint: After sending a debt validation letter to Portfolio Recovery, I received a response letter that did not include any documentation confirming that I am responsible for the debt. It did not include an original contract, personal identification, signatures, or other verifiable documents. The response only included a billing statement. In addition, a representative admitted they did not send the necessary documents initially, thus putting them outside of the allotted 30 days to respond. This is a direct violation of my rights under the FCRA Law. The continued reporting of negative information to all three credit reporting agencies in connection with the aforementioned accounts may constitute the reporting of false information, causing damage to my reputation and future credit worthiness. To resolve this situation, I ask that you investigate this matter and delete the account accordingly. The item that appears on my credit report : Portfolio Recovery XXXX

Consumer Complaint: I began questioning this organization in XXXX of XXXX into XXXX and this supposed obligation has been influencing my credit. The obligation authority hasn't given verification that the supposed obligation has a place with me. This is the fourth time this obligation was sold in the wake of demonstrating that this supposed obligation isn't mine because of the organization 's deficient evidence and a duplicate of a printout bill isn't verification this is influencing my capacity to get another home. I don't have any idea why I'm being dealt with this way.

Issue: Incorrect information on your report
Subissue: Information belongs to someone else
Consumer Complaint: I have identified information on my consumer credit file that is a direct result of identity theft. These items on my consumer report are not related to any transactions authorized by me. There are variation of companies name, account numbers are incomplete, variations of balances. My Social Security number, my date of birth and other sensitive information has been compromised by all three major credit reporting agencies which include XXXX, XXXX and XXXX all three agencies have had data breaches. I have disputed with the company and all credit bureaus only to be denied even while reporting Portfolio Recovery breaking FCRA Laws. Some of their variations of names are : 1. Portfolio Recovery 2. Portfolio Recovery LLC 3. Portfolio 4. Portfolio RC 5. Portfolio Associates LLC This tactic is a devious high tech scheme to try to keep uneducated ( to the law ) consumers in bondage. On XX/XX/2022 my credit score plummeted over XXXX points. Portfolio recovery for years have reported willful, erroneous, illegal, fraudulent items on my consumer credit report. It has cost me a great deal of grief, money, time and stress. It has affected my health, my credit score has decreased, for years denied credit, denied employment, denied housing opportunities and loans.

Consumer Complaint: Portfolio Recovery is communicating and reporting on my credit reports in attempt to collect a debt on behalf of XXXX XXXX, account XXXX. After i requested debt validation on XX/XX/2022, on XX/XX/2022 Portfolio Recovery sent me a response in the mail with documentation stating they had the right to collect on this account, which is misleading and not true. I looked up on the XXXX that this company is not licensed to collect debt or practice debt collection in Nevada. Portfolio Recovery is violating my rights under the FDCPA by misleading me to think they had the legal right to collect on this account and is in noncompliance with Nevada legal statue ; XXXX XXXX ; XXXX required ; exception. 1.Except as otherwise provided in this section, a person shall not conduct within this State a collection agency or engage within this State in the business of collecting claims for others, or of soliciting the right to collect or receive payment for another of any claim, or advertise, or solicit, either in print, by letter, in person or otherwise, the right to collect or receive payment for another of any claim, or seek to make collection or obtain payment of any claim on behalf of another without having first applied for and obtained a license from the Commissioner.

Consumer Complaint: Portfolio Recovery acquired a debt from XXXX XXXX, which was charged off. Portfolio Recovery continues to use deceptive tactics to collect debts ( as included in CFPB action against Portfolio Recovery docket number 2015-CFPB-0023 ). Portfolio Recovery has only provided statements from a creditor ( not the original creditor ) and no contract was provided. The statements are evidence of a credit, ( I credited XXXX XXXX ), statements are not sufficient to validate a debt. It is proof that a credit transaction took place but it is not evidence of a debt. See case law XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX v XXXX. I am also demanding an audit trail for this alleged debt. As per the documents attached Portfolio Recovery acquired this debt and therefore should have in possession all documents from the beginning of this consumer credit transaction. I demand an audit trail. I demand this account to be deleted from my consumer credit file with XXXX, XXXX and XXXX, this debt was not validated by me and I did not opt in with Portfolio Recovery to share any information. If you have documentation that I opted in with your company to share any personal information, I demand documentation.

This happend at the XXXX campus I don't have the police report anymore or the contact at the school. This happened in 2018.
