Subissue: Debt is not yours
Consumer Complaint: Hi, so on XX/XX/2022, XXXX PORTFOLIO XXXX opened a collection account on my XXXX credit report, with original creditor reporting as " XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX '' with a balance of Open balance of {$8500.00} This is like so past the statue of limitations to be collectable so they should not have done this. Issue: Written notification about debt
Subissue: Didn't receive enough information to verify debt
Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/XXXX I pulled a copy of my credit report and notice Portfolio Recovery Associates reporting derogatory information. I wrote asking them to verify and validate the debt and they responded with some paperwork that have me even more lost than before. Portfolio Recovery Associates did not send me what I asked for to properly validate the debt, which is a copy of a contract or agreement signed by the alleged original creditor and all parties to any such contract provided.

Issue: Communication tactics
Subissue: Frequent or repeated calls
Consumer Complaint: I have told them they are calling the wrong number repeatedly. They keep stating they have the right number stating I owe for a loan. I do not drive, nor do I take out loans. They keep finding new numbers to call from. This is beyond harassment. Not only that but the most recent calls they just stay on the phone. They don't know this but I have caller ID so I know its them. I've also had times they would not get off the line. We need our line to be open since more than one person in our household has serious health issues and they could turn deadly.

Issue: Attempts to collect debt not owed
Subissue: Debt was result of identity theft
Consumer Complaint: I am a documented victim of identity theft with police reports, FTC report, and other legal documents. Portfolio Recovery Associates is illegally trying to collect on XXXX fraudulent accounts opened in my name, by the original creditor XXXX XXXX, which violates the FCRA. The first account has a balance of {$1800.00} ( account ending in XXXX ) and the second has a balance of {$680.00} ( account ending in XXXX ). I have contacted both Portfolio Recovery Associates and the original creditor XXXX XXXX by mail and by phone numerous times, and have included my XXXX XXXX police report from XX/XX/2022 as well as other supporting identity theft legal documents. These fraudulent identity theft accounts need to be removed from my credit reports immediately or further legal action will be taken as I have documented each point of contact with the creditor for supporting evidence. Please see my legal documents and police report attached.

Subissue: Their investigation did not fix an error on your report
Consumer Complaint: I sent the credit bureaus letters ( XX/XX/XXXX, XX/XX/XXXX, XX/XX/XXXX, and XX/XX/XXXX ) asking them to verify the debt on my reports. They have responded that the disputed accounts have been either updated or verified as correct. However, this is still incorrect, and inaccuracies remain on my report. 15 U.S.C. 1681s-2 ( A ) ( 1 ) A person shall not furnish any information relating to a consumer to any consumer reporting agency if the person knows or has reasonable cause to believe that the information is inaccurate.
