Consumer Complaint: Portfolio Recovery Associates allegedly owns multiple collection " accounts '' impacting my credit score. It has been WELL over 30 days since I have disputed the debts, and submitted requests for my original contract with my original signature, an itemization of all billing on said accounts, as well as the the original purchase agreements that show they're the legal owner of the alleged debts, as well as all of the terms and conditions included in their purchase agreements. None of this information has been provided to me, and it has been several months since I requested the information and disputed the accounts. I receive well over 100 calls a month from varying phone numbers from Portfolio Recovery Associates. They have been early as XXXX, and late as XXXX. They call me on average 3-10 times a day, and most frequently at obsurdly late and early hours. I received one call from thr specifically at XXXX in this past XXXX. They are harassing me for debts they have failed to provide proof of ownership to, or proof of my responsibility for. The account totals are allegedly as follows : XXXXXXXX XXXX {$2500.00} XXXX XXXX {$670.00} Their abusive calling tactics are classified as harassment, and their failure to supply the aforementioned information in a timely fashion while said alleged debts have impacted my credit score, warrants a settlement of no greater than {$1000.00} to be paid to me by them.

Consumer Complaint: The Legal representatives of PORTFILIO RECOVERY ASSOCIATES - account number XXXX, ( i.e., XXXX XXXX XXXX - Attorney Code XXXX - XXXX, et al. ) ; files a XXXX XXXX action suit against me as the claimant, in XXXX XXXX, Alabama - Case # XXXX. The small claims states that their " records indicate that we purchased this XXXX XXXX credit account on XX/XX/2022 when the outstanding balance was {$720.00}. The problem with this false statement is that XXXX XXXX had already resolved this matter as a matter of Identity theft and fraudulent activity. Therefore, the outstanding balance was then written off as a lost. I verbal and written statement was provided to the fraud department of XXXX XXXX prior to any statement of collection by PORTIFILIO RECOVERY ASSOCIATES, and that information was then reiterated. In accordance with the Federal Trade Commission says youre not responsible to pay for charges or withdrawals made without your permission if they happen after you report the loss. Yet, PORTIFILIO RECOVERY ASSOCIATES, and their legal representatives still continue to make collection attempts. How do I stop this harassment?

Consumer Complaint: Per Section 609 ( a ) ( 1 ) of the Fair Credit Reporting Act ( FCRA ), you are required by federal law to verify any and all accounts posted on my credit report, and only report accurate information. I request all verifiable proof you have on file for the late payment listed on the following account with original signatures, no photo copies. Due to having identity theft, I'm requesting that all interactions and correspondence be done through postal mail and not through phone calls and email. My identity and finances have been compromised and I can not have any communication through phone calls or email. I have police reports showing that I have been compromised in my bank account and in my credit.

All of a sudden after the 3rd payment the payment amount went up against my consent to do so and against our original agreement, and then i continued to get texts and phone calls stating my payment arrangement had a problem. It is affecting my workdays and my after work rest.

Consumer Complaint: To whom it may concern, I got a surprise mail this day from Portfolio Recovery Associates ( PRA ) regarding a 1099-C and Box 5 states : " If checked, the debtor was personally liable for repayment of the debt '' If they try to collect from me more money that will not happen. Because I will show this proof to the IRS that this debt was settled, is no longer in all my credit reports as they deleted this account this is actually an old account and the statute of limitations has passed. I know and I am aware that this company has plenty of complaints from higher corporations. This is nothing new but a tactic to collect more money from people who try to make a living, especially these days that is very hard to survive. I am attaching proof of the 1055C XXXXXXXX Letter plus a confirmation letter from PRA that this debt was settled! In addition, they are not the original creditor. That means they bought the debt for a fraction of a dollar. In addition, this debt is old and has passed the statute of limitation, especially with the new law updated by XXXX XXXX XXXX due to many frauds happening in these days with debt collectors. From XX/XX/XXXX, creditors can not sue or make a threat to sue consumers ( implicitly or explicitly ) on debts that are older than three years.
