Issue: Managing an account
Subissue: Problem accessing account
Consumer Complaint: Navy Federal Credit Union has unjustifiably and wrongfully denied access to my person account, along with a joint account, with whom I share with my grandmother, XXXX XXXX. After an attempt to transfer money off a credit card, Navy Federal flagged our accounts as fraud. They requested that I go to the bank to show ID, which I did, along with my grandmother, which she was unable to do, because there is no branch in the State of Indiana. For three days we have spent hours on the phone with Navy Federal, along with have faxed over numerous documents proving identity, along with a Power of Attorney, which they rejected and failed to state a reason. It is worth noting that though I have POA for XXXX, I was already from day one listed as authorized and joint on all accounts. They are now forcing a XXXX XXXX XXXX woman to drive three hours to the nearest branch to show an ID card. If you were to visit this company 's website, there is nothing posted that states members must reside in a state where a Navy Federal is located. We feel discriminated against and targeted. Furthermore, we have suffered financial hardship due to this unreasonable actions that Navy Federal has taken. Please assist, we have no access to any accounts and it is causes us unnecessary debt. To better assist you, I have multiple fax, POAs, Sworn Affadavits, along with past mail to prove our identity and the wrongful action taken my this institution. Two individuals in particular that offered no recourse where XXXX and XXXX in Security.

Issue: Applying for a mortgage or refinancing an existing mortgage
Subissue:
Consumer Complaint: In the process of obtaining a mortgage through NAVY FEDERAL CREDIT UNION. On two occasions I am being told by my loan officer XXXX XXXX that they can not obtain a credit score for me through XXXX XXXX XXXX phone # XXXX with an order # XXXX. I have a freeze on my credit profiles through all three Bureaus. This freeze was placed due to my being a victim of credit fraud in which I purchased a XXXX XXXX mattress set and my credentials was accessed and different credit cards started to appear in my name. I HAVE PERSONALLY LIFTED ALL THREE BUREAS FREEZES FOR THE ABOVE LOAN OFFICER SO THAT THEY CAN OBTAIN THESE SCORES ONLY TO BE TOLD AGAIN AND AGAIN THAT THEY DONT HAVE A SCORE FOR ME. On several occasions I left messages for the above loan officer and her supperiors by the name of XXXX XXXX ( XXXX ) XXXX EXT XXXX. Never once did any of the above contact me back. I find all of the above hard to believe because in XXXX the area where I am looking to purchase had NO PROBLEM in pulling my credit score for their application through there leasing office. I am now feeling that I am getting the run around by either NFCU or XXXX in which the latter has provided a PIN to remove or lift the credit freeze. I am now looking at the possibility of losing the home I so dearly am trying to purchase over a technicality.

Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/2019, I noticed an inaccurate reporting to my credit report from Navy Federal Credit Union send a letter of verification/ validation of the alleged debt. My letter was VERY clear on what I was requesting to ensure this debt was mine As a response from the ORIGINAL creditor dated XX/XX/2019 was that " we have completed our 'investigation ' ''. What was the investigation? Where are the results of this investigation? How was this information investigated? After the ORIGINAL creditor blatantly and arbitrarily disregarding my request, I sent a follow up letter on XX/XX/2019 ( I was waiting for further information of the alleged investigation and It never came ) letting Navy Federal Credit Union know these things an that their response doesn't met the FTC guidelines of proper debt validation.

Consumer Complaint: The second week of XXXX I was a victim to a scam in the XXXX XXXX area, and it was in the form of a job opportunity, I went to the place I did work and I was physically handed a check for working for this company. I worked for a month until I got my first check, along with that I gave them my account and routing number for direct deposit, and they told me I would start getting direct deposits for my second payment. The first way I got paid was through a check. I deposit the check and there was a hold on it, I believed it was normal. Then one morning I check my account, my account was negative {$3300.00}. I was on the phone with Navy Federal from XXXX to XXXX the next day and its not until a week later they finally made a fraud claim. A month goes by and finally the XX/XX/XXXX Navy federal calls me to tell me I would have to take care of the negative in my account and theres nothing they can do about it. Along with the investigation, I filed a police report and the people I was working for are nowhere to be found.

Consumer Complaint: I paid all my credit cards down to a XXXX balance at least two weeks before the minimum payments were due via check by mail. All of the companies received payment except one. I hadnt realized they didnt receive the payment until I got a notification on my credit report that I was 30 days delinquent. I then called the credit card company to see why I was being reported delinquent. The representative explained they had not received payment. I then stated I'd sent the check and asked if they wanted me to stop payment on the mailed check and submitt another check. The representative said yes. She stated she would notate the account and told me not to worry. She told me they would put my account on hold so that it wouldnt go into collections due to the circumstances. I was also told due to the circumstances of the lost payment and as a courtesy that they would not report 30 day late on my credit report. Since then I submitted another check and the company has received and cashed the check but did not hold up their end of the bargain. They are reporting 30 days late to the credit bureaus which is harming my credit score.

Consumer Complaint: I have reason to believe that Navy Federal Credit Union is harassing me with location services and investigative services through the XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX, since a private investigator was hired to locate my car. ( Please see Factual Content & CFPB COMPLAINT # XXXX ). I have reason to believe this because when I spoke with a representative ( XXXX or XXXX ) at Navy Federal Credit Union over the phone one evening she said that XXXX XXXX will locate me. The tone behind what she said seems to imply a threat or investigative services, and this bothered me. It still bothers me. In the past a private investigator was hired to confiscate my property, and I am concerned that even though my car loan payments are current someone is still being hired to locate my property, observe, and report.
