Consumer Complaint: I have tried to get a " cash advance fee '' that was charged in error removed. The purchase was with a vendor and I received credit to be used with that vendor only and did not receive any cash whatsoever. Discover retorted that they can charge a cash advance fee for anything they would like to and the customer does not have to receive cash, or anything at all for that matter, to be considered a cash advance. If this is the case, what's stopping Discover from charging a {$10.00} fee on every purchase I make? I believe this is against the terms of service and is gross negligence on Discover 's part. I spent 90+ minutes discussing the issue with a customer representative, with no resolution.

Consumer Complaint: We have been a Discover Card holder for over 10 years. Whenever I have paid the previous month 's balance off the following month I have never been charged a Finance Charge. Now Discover Card is trying to use some kind of " computer '' magic to say that the daily balance is assessed a finance charge on any unpaid balance over the term of the month. I have asked several times for this in writing w refusal. I called and they said they would not send to me. I have been online with their chat person and this person says they can not send to me the " computer figures it out. '' This is impossible, if I pay the statement balance off from the previous month. There should not be an interest charge. Also, today is the day they issued the statement and mysteriously my statement on their website is NOT available.

Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/2020, a collections representative at Discover ( Credit Card Company ) placed a call due to missed payment. At this time, and today, the credit card only belongs to me. There are no additional phone numbers ( other than mine ) or authorized users on this account. I'm assuming through some form of skip research they manage to acquire my husbands phone number and call him due to a payment that I had missed. He relays information later to me that day that lets me know they did the following - They not only disclose that I've missed a payment, but they tell him balance, what is owed, and schedule 2 payments with him through MY checking account that is on file for XX/XX/2020 for {$120.00} and XX/XX/2020 for {$130.00} without my knowledge because they " couldn't get a hold of me. '' That payment came through today on XX/XX/2020 for {$130.00} after realizing that had taken 2 payments on those scheduled dates. When calling to inquire, the representative that I spoke with today ( via customer service I believe ) informed me that it was in fact ME that had spoken with them on XX/XX/2020 and that it was not documented anywhere that they had spoken with a third party. This caused my bank account to go negative and cause me additional fees, and stress. I am also newly XXXX and this did NOT help when I also have new XXXX bills to pay. I informed the representative I spoke with today place a cease and desist on my account and note that authorization to speak with my husband is not permitted, because even though he's not on the account, clearly someone disclosed everything for their collections bonus. The snapshot details will include the amounts of the transaction, as well as a {$28.00} dollar late fee they informed my husband they would refund to me after that phone call on the XXXX.

Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/2020, I received a phone call from a 1800 number that appeared to be from Discover card. The person on the phone identified themselves as Fraud services at Discover. They proceeded to tell me that there were multiple fraudulent purchases on my account the needs to be verified. I told them that those weren't from me and she said she'll initiate cancellation. I got another call hours later from a number definitely a discover card number telling me that the card is sent out. I got a call today, from the same number, but the phone call sounds much more legit. I was told that there are still charges to my account. The new person was definitely more professional than the first people. It is likely that the first calls were not even from Discover and were fraudsters spoofing.

Issue: Closing an account
Subissue: Can't close your account
Consumer Complaint: I contacted Discover Bank by phone on XX/XX/2020 and requested that my two bank accounts with Discover Bank be closed because I cant add my debit cards to XXXX XXXX and every time I pay my Discover credit card bill using my Discover bank accounts my available credit do not increase by the amount of my payments until I call Discover and request that it does. But the Discover Banking Specialist claimed she didnt know how to close my accounts and placed me on hold and then disconnected the call. No one from Discover Bank called me back and every time I call the bank back my calls are placed in a call queue until I realize my calls are not going to be answered and hang up. Discover Bank needs to be put under investigation by the CFPB or the FBI for their business practices.

Subissue: Their investigation did not fix an error on your report
Consumer Complaint: Account was disputed as fraud. Discover Financial Services then closed the account. Account is still reporting on credit report as closed. Which it should be removed entirely as this account is not mine. Also on the previous investigation in reference to this account I never received any correspondence or resolution in writing that this account was closed.
