Issue: Struggling to pay your loan
Subissue: Loan balance remaining after the vehicle is repossessed and sold
Consumer Complaint: I was basically scammed into buy a XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX for {$10000.00}. The dealer, XXXX XXXX XXXX told me initially offered me a really nice XXXX, and then told me the grand am was all I could get. My partner had just passed his family took the car we just bought and I had to get my XXXX to school. They told me they'd accept {$1000.00} down but to not mention this to the creditor. I agreed to pay {$6000.00} for a {$2000.00} car because I was desperate. The windows immediately stopped working. Then the wheel bearings and tie rods went. I tried to use the lemon law, but the car was too old. I was forced to open a XXXX XXXX credit card and max it out. The loan ended up being {$10000.00}. I was unable to afford daycare to continue working. The car was stolen and destroyed. XXXX didnt cover the repair. I ended up losing our home. I tried to get it fixed through XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX and put {$200.00} down. The car was not worth the repair, so I agreed to allow Credit Acceptance to repossess and I was told they only got {$150.00} for the car which went toward my balance. This was 4 years ago. Suddenly they are reporting recent missed payments which took my credit score down 130 points making it XXXX. They have claimed it was charged off 28 times. This company has multiple complaints against them but nothing is done and it is not right. I do not have the car. I cant refinance the loan. I cant afford the payments they want, and I shouldn't have to pay a penny more for this scam than I already have. I need a vehicle. I am a widow and a XXXX. I need someone to help me get this off my report so I cant get a reliable vehicle and get on with my life.

Issue: Managing the loan or lease
Subissue: Problem with additional products or services purchased with the loan
Consumer Complaint: I had taken out an auto loan in XXXX and i had purchased gap coverage. When the vehicle began totaled they tried changing the term of the agreement stating that because the loan was behind on payments the gap coverage doesn't cover the whole loan. Which I don't understand because gap insurance wasn't purchased through them. On XXXX XXXX I had a vehicle become totaled by a accident. I provided all necessary information to the financial institution credit acceptance to process for GAP. The company came back a month and a half later stating they received the payment for XXXX they paid {$7900.00} and gap only paid {$5300.00} leaving a balance of {$3400.00}. We asked several times in XXXX why was there still a balance when we had GAP they said because the vehicle was behind on payments and GAP wouldn't cover the whole thing. We reached out to the GAP company to find out why only a portion was paid. They stated they paid what the finance company reported to them and would have paid the entire amount, but was only given {$5300.00} which they paid. In XXXX they sent the account to a law firm for collection. We have been unsuccessful in resolving this issue.

Issue: Problem with a credit reporting company's investigation into an existing problem
Subissue: Their investigation did not fix an error on your report
Consumer Complaint: This complaint # XXXX was closed out based on the financial institution response. I have reviewed all three of the credit bureaus. The account with XXXX XXXX shows the following reporting information. XXXX shows the file being delinquent from XXXX thru XX/XX/XXXX being past due, frim XX/XX/XXXX thru XX/XX/XXXX the account is not being reported, as of XX/XX/XXXX shows file being past due. XXXX XX/XX/XXXX thru XX/XX/XXXX shows past due XXXX + XX/XX/XXXX account shows it charged off and started reporting again XX/XX/XXXX. XXXX shows XX/XX/XXXX thru XX/XX/XXXX negative reporting then starting in XX/XX/XXXX shows file being reported again. The credit bureau goes by the information provided by the creditor. They responded to the complaint that the file was never charged off. Credit Acceptance is not being truthful and their reporting it again has affected my credit score. The account was already reported being past due in XXXX I am confused as to how you can choose not to report for almost 3 years and now start to report again. This makes no sense to me and should be investigated.

Consumer Complaint: I made all of my payments to Credit Acceptance within the 30 days that was required before reporting negatively to credit reporting agencies. The company has only reported my last payment as late, which again was not 30 days late. The payment is due on the XXXX, I made the payment on the XX/XX/XXXX. I then learned in making the last payment that late fees magically appeared. This was then going to add a payment, that was not expected. The vehicle has been paid in full since XX/XX/XXXX, then an added payment of {$340.00} in late fees. This has negatively effected my credit I have worked so hard to fix since my divorce in XX/XX/XXXX, and impacted my ability to purchase a new home. I have contacted Credit Acceptance and disputed their information they are reporting. They have refused to remove the information, therefore I am looking to take the next steps.

Consumer Complaint: Credit Acceptance is repeatedly failing to report accurate information to delete a late payment off my account. In addition, Credit Acceptance is spitefully trying to not update my report and balance has they have stated they would on the XXXX of every month. I believe this company has poor customer service and lack of compassion for its customers. They erroneously reported my payment as late in XX/XX/2020 during a pandemic which is very insensitive and inaccurate reporting on their behalf. They compliance offers fail to thoroughly investigate this matter and I have furnished bank statement which do not reflect late payments in the month they have reported on my credit. I have paid on time and more than the required payment on loan. I will continue to place complaints until this matter is resolved. I would never recommend anyone to use Credit Acceptance for their auto loan provider.
