Consumer Complaint: I, Consumer XXXX, entered into a consumer credit transaction with American Express in which multiple federally protected consumer rights were violated. American Express violated my federally protected rights governed under 15 USC 1692f. ( 8 ) which states debt collector can not use any language or symbol on an envelope other than the debt collector 's address. American Express violated my privacy by placing their logo and language on the envelope that implied to anyone that saw the envelope that I owed an " alleged debt ''. American Express violated my federally protected rights governed under 15 USC 1692j. ( a ) which states that it is unlawful to design, compile, and furnish any form knowing that such form would be used to create the false belief in a consumer that a person other than the creditor of such consumer is participating in the collection of or in an attempt to collect a debt such consumer allegedly owes such creditor, when in fact such person is not so participating. American Express violated my consumer rights by creating false statements that created false belief that I, the original creditor and consumer, owe an " alleged debt '' to American Express. I am not participating in collecting a debt from myself. American Express violated my federally protected rights governed under 15 USC 1692e. ( 2 ) ( A ) which states A debt collector may not use any false, deceptive, or misleading representation or means in connection with the collection of any debt. Without limiting the general application of the foregoing, the following conduct is a violation of this section : ( 2 ) The false representation of- ( A ) the character, amount, or legal status of any debt ; American Express violated my consumer rights by displaying the false representations of " alleged debts '' to deceive me, the consumer, that I have an unpaid balance. If debt existed wouldn't it be stated in the negative and not a positive amount due to the fact I can't make payments on a positive account. American Express violated my federally protected rights governed under 15 USC 1692e. ( 5 ) which states : A debt collector may not use any false, deceptive, or misleading representation or means in connection with the collection of any debt. Without limiting the general application of the foregoing, the following conduct is a violation of this section : ( 5 ) The threat to take action that can not legally be taken or that is not intended to be taken. American Express violated my consumer rights because I was threatened to have reputation damaged if I did not pay an " alleged debt ''. American Express violated my federally protected rights governed under 15 USC 1692d. ( 1 ) which states : A debt collector may not engage in any conduct the natural consequence of which is to harass, oppress, or abuse any person in connection with the collection of a debt. Without limiting the general application of the foregoing, the following conduct is a violation of this section : ( 1 ) The use or threat of use of violence or other criminal means to harm the physical person, reputation, or property of any person. American Express violated my consumer rights by tainting my reputation, my consumer credit report, because they added negative information that reflects a false balance. American Express violated my federally protected rights governed under 15 USC 1692d. ( 4 ) which states : A debt collector may not engage in any conduct the natural consequence of which is to harass, oppress, or abuse any person in connection with the collection of a debt. Without limiting the general application of the foregoing, the following conduct is a violation of this section : ( 4 ) The advertisement for sale of any debt to coerce payment of the debt. American Express violated my consumer rights by willfully and without consent advertise a false balance on my consumer report with intent to damage my reputation with other creditors to coerce me to pay an alleged debt. American Express violated my federally protected rights governed under 15 USC 1681a. ( d ) ( 2 ) ( A ) ( i ) which states : ( d ) Consumer Report. ( 2 ) Exclusions.Except as provided in paragraph ( 3 ), the term consumer report does not include ( A ) subject to section 1681s3 of this title, any ( i ) report containing information solely as to transactions or experiences between the consumer and the person making the report ; American Express violated my consumer rights because that re ported a consumer transaction to XXXX and XXXX between the consumer, myself, and the person, American Express, which should have been excluded from my consumer report. American Express violated my federally protected rights governed under 15 USC 1681a. ( d ) ( 2 ) ( B ) which states : ( d ) Consumer Report. ( 2 ) Exclusions.Except as provided in paragraph ( 3 ), the term consumer report does not include ( B ) any autho rization or approval of a specific extension of credit directly or indirectly by the issuer of a credit card or similar device ; American Express violated my consumer report by reporting to XXXX and XXXX about a consumer transaction that involved the use of my credit card which should have been excluded from my consumer report.

Consumer Complaint: I contacted the Credit Reporting Agency XXXX about an account appearing on my credit report from American Express ( AMEX ) l which I did not recognize. The account number information was being reported with incomplete information and partial account numbers which are a violation of the Fair Credit Reporting Act ( FCRA ). I contacted XXXX about this error on my credit report and sent a letter to them on XX/XX/XXXX explaining this to them and requesting that they delete this erroneous account. To my surprise, I received a response more than 30 days late from XXXX where they claim they were able to verify and update the information with XXXX as accurate, however their reply credit report they sent had missing fields like date of last payment was missing which is a violation of Metro 2 Compliance and the FCRA and inaccurate, unverifiable, missing, and unfair information such as a partial account number with asterisks instead of the full account number. I then sent a letter on XX/XX/XXXX asking XXXX for their method of verification for this account and the errors which was a violation of the law and for them to delete this account. Then on XX/XX/XXXX I received a similar response from them stating that they verified that this AMEX account was valid and again they claim to update the information again however did not give a method of validation, as well as missing and incomplete account numbers and credit report information which is another violation of the FCRA. On XX/XX/XXXX I sent them a letter regarding their violations in reporting the account information, dates, and other fields incomplete and inaccurate. Until this date XXXX has never responded in regards to this AMEX account and their inaccurate reporting and request to delete this erroneous account. Then on XX/XX/XXXX I sent another letter for their failure to respond again in 30 days and to again demand the deletion of the AMEX account due to inaccurate and missing/incomplete reporting of the account number as a violation of the FCRA and Federal Consumer Laws. Since that time I still have yet to receive a response from XXXX regarding their inaccurate reporting and violating the FCRA and other Federal Consumer laws regarding this account. They also continue to report this erroneous account. In addition, I also contacted AMEX by mail telling them about their incomplete inaccurate and unfair reporting of this account and that I did not recognize this account on XX/XX/XXXX, with no response within the required 30 days and on XX/XX/XXXX I wrote them letters for not responding and violating the FCRA and not reporting to the XXXX and the other credit bureaus that I disputed this account with no response each time from AMEX regarding this account. Neither XXXX nor AMEX did not do their investigation in this matter and replied more than 30 days late or not at all and are reporting the information inaccurately for this account which is severely affecting my creditworthiness and ability to obtain a car and other credit opportunities which would afford me to live a better quality life. I also noticed they have over 100,000 complaints in the last 3 months with other people complaining of similar terrible treatment and inaccurate reporting and both AMEX and XXXX breaking the consumer federal and state law of not responding in 30 days and not reporting complete account number or not properly doing their investigation and responding in the required time as required by law.

Upon receiving the card, I did not see any mention of the offer, so i called the number on the back of my card, representative from American express informed me that the offer was denied as i had this card in past. I checked my credit report and never had this card, so i opened a case with american express and today when i checked, i was told that when you applied, there was a pop up that said you will not get the bonus miles offer, but i never received any such pop up. this is truly misleading and mischievous. Now they would not let me talk to a supervisor. I saw that promotion on XXXX XXXX website and decided to apply to get those miles. Now American Express says, they are not willing to do anything for me. case # XXXX that i opened with them is now closed with no resolution. the website never informed me that i will not get the XXXX promotion., otherwise i would have not applied for the card.

Consumer Complaint: I filed a dispute on XX/XX/2021 with American Express regarding a charge on my American Express Serve prepaid card for {$62.00} made on XX/XX/2021 to ship an envelope XXXX overnight priority through a third party shipper, XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX. The package was delivered 3 days later than promised. Although XXXX agreed I should receive a refund or partial refund for not receiving the service I paid for, they said they are unable to process the credit because I went through a third party. The third party shipper is refusing to process the refund. Initially weather was used as a reason for the delay, however, that was debunked as the bad weather occurred the prior week, then I was told it was due to the pandemic - though they did not provide or post any notice or warnings of possible delays. I assure you if I was warned of any delays I would not have paid {$62.00} to send a piece of mail that would have cost XXXX XXXX to send through regular mail and would have arrived within the same timeframe. Furthermore, I was advised by American Express that I would be given a provisional credit if my dispute was not resolved within 10 days ( as per Regulation E ), which I have yet to receive. I contacted American Express Serve on XX/XX/2021 to inquire about the status of the dispute and the provisional credit, however, I was told I would not be given a provisional credit and I would need to wait up to 45 days or XX/XX/2021 for the final decision. They were not able to explain why I was not being given a provisional credit even after advising them of the Regulation E requirements.

Consumer Complaint: I did not know that a major well known credit card company would not offer an account to card member on an account. They charged on my account so much that I had to cancel it, I think that they misunderstood that the primary card holder gave them an opportunity, but is not to be held accountable for their expenses they charged, I no longer have any contact with this person, that abused my credit and kindness for weakness. I have received scams calls from American Express from the XXXX area code when I did have this company credit card payments were to be sent to XXXX XXXX, but the customer services was in XXXX XXXX, Tx I dont know where American Express is located today but I do know that is not in XXXX XXXX.

Consumer Complaint: For the past 6 months I've been trying to get a credit line increase with AMEX. I've been a customer for over 3 years, my family for decades and even referred many others in who now have accounts with high credit limits. After seeing others receive such high limits I decided to apply for an increase my self not understanding why my limit is so low when I consistently use the card monthly, Always paid on time, and never issues with AMEX yet I was declined with their reason cited a derogatory account that never existed. I requested the account to be manually underwritten to which my evidence offered ( copies of my credit report showing I've never had a derogatory account ) was denied and I was told it's being declined even though their info is inaccurate. Fast forward to XXXX after their own Credit Bureau Unit team ( which no one told me they existed until today ) confirmed herself after pulling all 3 of my reports I have nothing marked as charged off or derogatory. She warm transferred me to the CLI team and explained that to them over the phone, to which the CLI team stated well " we're still declining for that reason even though it's inaccurate. '' Then I stated I'm filing a complaint with the CFPB because this is beyond ridiculous for the supervisor XXXX ( employee ID : XXXX ) to suddenly change the declination reason to usage of my AMEX card. He stated even though my card is paid in full every month, and I pay off my balance before using the card that month again ( I pay my card off after EVERY transaction ) that is also a reason for decline. So I'm being told I'm supposed to have this reward card for delta, I have to split my purchases monthly to earn my points because they're refusing to increase my credit limit for false reasons, then tell me I'm being penalized for working with the small credit limit I'm stuck at because they're refusing to rectify their wring. I've never had issues with AMEX before so it's very disheartening that it even came to this point of me filing this complaint. At this rate me and my family are just going to pull the savings account, credit cards, and stocks we have with AMEX I can't continue to support a business that has no regards for their customers.

Consumer Complaint: I received my stimulus payment on an American express serve card. I received the payment and was never sent an email or was notified in any way, the only reason I found out was bc I called. I had received my last payment on one of the same cards but apparently not the same card as they are not linked. Instead my money came on a card I had never ever had possession of, so the customer svc person sent me out another card. I received it nearly a week ago, talked to over 30 ppl been hung up on, spoken badly to, spoken to everyone and still have no answers. They say I have to register it and then I can activate it after I complete email verification..I would love to..but I've received just as many broken links as I've been hung up on and given the run around..I suspect fraud i don't know where to turn next. I'm unable to register/activate/ or do anything with this card yet it holds every penny I have to my name.
