Issue: Dealing with your lender or servicer

Subissue: Trouble with how payments are being handled

Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/XXXX, I submitted a payment voucher from my XXXX XXXX XXXX award in the amount of {$460.00}. As per the process concerning these types of payments, XXXX then submitted a request for verification of my account, which was received by XXXX on either XX/XX/XXXX, orXX/XX/XXXX. XXXX then verified to XXXX my account with them. OnXX/XX/XXXX, payment in the above amount was submitted via first class mail to XXXX This payment was received onXX/XX/XXXX. In the subsequent weeks, this payment has not been applied or credited to my account. On XX/XX/XXXX, XX/XX/XXXX, and XX/XX/XXXX, I called XXXX to inquire as to what I should do, since my account was showing a past due balance. I was informed each time not to worry, and that no subsequent payment would have to be made since the payment, when processed would be back dated toXX/XX/XXXX I was assured by each representative that I spoke with, including one supervisor, that this payment would count toward as a qualifying payment under the terms of my student loan forgiveness program. Under the direction of XXXX and its representatives, I have not made another payment for XX/XX/XXXX, even though my account now states that I am fourteen ( 14 ) days past due, and at risk of not having made a qualifying payment for XX/XX/XXXX. I am beyond frustrated. I am concerned, angered, and demand that the payment I made, be credited to my account. I do not understand how XXXX can take this long to process a payment. In waiting, I have been caused a great amount of emotional and mental fatigue. This payment is constantly on my mind, and has caused me to lose weight, sleep, and is beginning to severely effect my physical health. I demand that this payment be credited to my account, and that XXXX apologize for this indefensible delay,.

Issue: Dealing with your lender or servicer

Subissue: Trouble with how payments are being handled

Consumer Complaint: I have two student loans currently in repayment status, held by servicer AES. I have auto-bill pay set up to make electronic payments each month. In XX/XX/XXXX, AES stopped processing my payments, though I made no changes to bank bill-pay or my repayment status with AES. When I contacted AES and asked them why they stopped processing my payments, they informed me that I am 'paid ahead ' on my loans until XX/XX/XXXX. So, instead of applying my XX/XX/XXXX., XX/XX/XXXX., XX/XX/XXXX, XX/XX/XXXX and XX/XX/XXXX automatic payments to my loan principal, they just let the loans sit there accruing interest. Is this legal or ethical? Further, is there a class of other loan customers to which this is happening? In other words, is it an isolated occurrence, just an oversight? Or is AES deliberately not processing payments on 'paid ahead ' loans in a predatory attempt to earn more interest? Can you find out and let us know? Thank you.

Issue: Dealing with your lender or servicer

Subissue: Received bad information about your loan

Consumer Complaint: I was duped into an interest-only payment plan, I was switched to a long term graduated repayment plan for 25 years. Now am paying nearly 100 % interest and making zero progress on principal. I was never notified how much interest I would be paying ( an exorbitant amount compared to principal ). I have not been paying these since XX/XX/2016 and have paid over {$26000.00} without anything being applied to principal ( {$65000.00} ).

Issue: Dealing with your lender or servicer

Subissue: Need information about your loan balance or loan terms

Consumer Complaint: I have worked for a XXXX XXXX XXXX for about 18 years and should qualify for Public Service Loan Forgiveness. I have been paying on my loans for about 6 years. In XX/XX/XXXX I sent in an employment verification form certifying my years of public service, and my loans were moved to XXXX XXXX. In two years, I have not received verification of my qualifying payments. I called them about this is XXXX and they said it was weird. They put in an expidited review order and said it should be complete in 48 hours and I would get a letter. I still have not received anything. According to my records I have about 60 qualifying payments. The woman I spoke to on the phone in XXXX said I have way less than that. She listed a number of long forebearances that I did not take. I have bank records showing all my payments. Ive only ever made automatic payments that the loan services said were due. Im not sure what my next steps are. I have done everything right for PSLF yet I cant get anything in writing showing where I stand.

Issue: Dealing with your lender or servicer

Subissue: Received bad information about your loan

Consumer Complaint: I called in XX/XX/XXXX to inquire about a forbearance form. They mailed me a form and I filled it out and mailed it back. I called to follow up upon receiving another months bill ; to which I was told I didnt include the co-signer information ( mind you, no where on any of my bills I receive nor anywhere on the user portal online logging in does it show or demonstrate that these two loans have a co-signer ). So they mail the form again and I fill it out again, this time including my co-signers information. I follow up on XX/XX/XXXX and was then told that they had me fill out the wrong forbearance form. I attempted to inquire about this issue and was given the runaround. What forbearance form did I fill out? What one was I supposed to receive? The forms were mailed directly to me by AES so how could they get this wrong twice? They tell me they will mail me the correct form and it is now XX/XX/XXXX and I have yet to receive the new form so I called again today and they had no clue about why I didnt get it. Well now its coming up on 60 days without payment because the forbearance was supposed to have started on XX/XX/XXXX whe. They received the form the first time I filled it out. Please help get this company to do right!! This is so wrong that I keep getting the runaround and have to re-do things

Issue: Dealing with your lender or servicer

Subissue: Trouble with how payments are being handled

Consumer Complaint: I have been paying additional amounts on my monthly payments in order to reduce the principal. I have just found from dealing with the company that additional amounts I have been paying since XX/XX/2012 have not been applied to principal. Instead the company have been holding the funds for future payments in a " paid ahead '' status. Basically holding my money and indefinitely pushing it forward in time to future payments instead of applying it to principal. This is a problem because I am paying the money now to reduce the principal on which I am paying interest. But they are not applying it to the principal, so they have my money, have not reduced my principal and are still changing me interest on the full amount. I had NO IDEA this was happening. I have been paying a lot more each month to reduce principal and apparently they have just been holding my funds. As of today, after speaking with a rep, they said they have taken off the " paid ahead '' status on my account. :

Issue: Dealing with your lender or servicer

Subissue: Received bad information about your loan

Consumer Complaint: On this current account I have inaccurate information that can not be verified and I have a question documentation to verify this information. On this account I have unverified late payments during this time the account was in forbearance and there should not be any late payments. I have called to request a forbearance to avoid any form of late payment due to the fact I was continuing education with this particular loan service. According to several agents the individual who took the information did not update the information or did not process the information and result causing derogatory late payments on the account. I have requested the original contract of this account on three different occasions and have yet to receive anything. And if there is indeed late payments I am requesting the original signed contract with my original signature agreeing to these practices. If none of this information can not be provided I request that the unverified late payments to be updated to positive & current.

Issue: Dealing with your lender or servicer

Subissue: Trouble with how payments are being handled

Consumer Complaint: I paid four of my five student loans in full with a refinance through XXXX. I left one student loan open because the interest rate was lower than my refinance. I owed a very small amount on " loan sequence 2 '' and had pre-paid a couple of years of payments on that loan. XX/XX/XXXX I decided to start re-paying the debt that was pre-paid through at least XX/XX/XXXX because I would like to start a family and thought I should get rid of that loan first. When I made the {$92.00} payment, all four of the closed loans re-opened. I called onXX/XX/XXXX to complain to XXXX as the 4 loans should have been paid in full. I told XXXX XXXX that I wanted the loans which re-opened with credit to be reapplied to the total debt owed and DID NOT WANT checks sent to me. I was told no little checks would be sent. I received two checks for about {$2.00} each about one week later. After two calls and multiple escalations I was told my loan would be entered into a " lead review '' which would take two weeks maximum. After two weeks, I called again and I was told the process could take up to 30 days. Meanwhile, the amount owed increased. I continue to call XXXX and the problem is not fixed. XXXX is now reporting my credit as OVER 260 DAYS PAST DUE which is a LIE and IS Seriously affecting my credit. I had to buy a new car and was not able to get the promotional rate. MY LOANS ARE REPORTING AS ALMOST IN DEFAULT WHICH IS A LIE. MY CREDIT IS REPORTING AS HAVING SERIOUS DELINQUENCY WHICH IS A LIE. EVERY TIME I CALL XXXX they demonstrate a complete inability to assist me. The first person who answers informs me my loans are significantly past due and in risk of default after multiple escalations I finally reach someone who has a clue and says it normally does not take this long to correct. It has been a month and a half and my credit is messed up. Additionally, XXXX never explained to me the consequence of paying the income based repayment. My loans therefore capitalized as follows : on XX/XX/XXXX - {$10000.00} and on XX/XX/XXXX - {$550.00} ( despite on time regular payments since the first due date XX/XX/XXXX. I made regular on time payments until XX/XX/XXXX. On XX/XX/XXXX my interest capitalized {$17000.00}. This added a total {$28000.00} to my amount owed. I then made on time payments until XX/XX/XXXX and I paid 4 of my loans in full in XX/XX/XXXX

Issue: Struggling to repay your loan

Subissue: Can't get other flexible options for repaying your loan

Consumer Complaint: It started in XX/XX/XXXX they called and said they could consolidate loans so i wouldn't have to deal with how long it takes. I haven't clicked accept terms and conditions either. spoke with us dept ed and they said it was a scam and to procede with the investigation XX/XX/XXXX. They took {$160.00} on XX/XX/XXXX, XXXX on XX/XX/XXXX and XXXX on XX/XX/XXXX this was fees to get a consolidation, but they never disclosed I could do thru government and student loan sites that are associated with the government for free in 30 min. They also said I have to set auto pay for XXXX $ every month for the service. I have called bank to block them from being able to scam me anymore. I was told they have to legally tell you its free. I did get loans consolidated with payment of XXXX $ or XXXX , but This is wrong to take advantage of someone who has XXXX in debt they have no idea. then they gave me a bogus servicer and they didn't have loans for me. called and they said it is through XXXX which it is. I asked for proof of me say yes on the phone recording of them saying he could do for free, and she hung up and said it takes weeks to do, but I know for a fact that is a lie, I did mine through us dept ed and no fees. What can I do? I want fedloan as servicer but not associated with XXXX. ALSO they told me never to go through my new servicer to call them and they handle everything only to XXXX it up. They had their phone numbers on studentloans.gov and on my servicer XXXX also i said city blue springs mo and they put XXXX XXXX. I have yet to get anything from my servicer regarding payments. Please help or my lawyer will handle it and I spoke to my bank and am filing fraud and so they cant get any more money that I could give to my servicer and i have no signed documents.
