Issue: Problem with a credit reporting company's investigation into an existing problem

Subissue: Their investigation did not fix an error on your report

Consumer Complaint: I attended XXXX XXXX XXXX XX/XX/XXXXfor summer and fall sessions. I moved from XXXX to XXXX Florida for a family emergency in XX/XX/XXXX. I never received any emails or forwarded mail about my payments or when they would be do. I check my credit periodically and noticed in XX/XX/XXXX that they hit my credit score saying that my payments were late by 120 days and 90 days. I immediately called them and explained the situation and they stated that they could not take it off my credit. I have submitted multiple disputes but none will go through. I have showed that I make all of my payments on time and plan to continue to make them until the loan is paid off.

Issue: Dealing with your lender or servicer

Subissue: Received bad information about your loan

Consumer Complaint: As I had trouble at first paying my student loans, I started paying them later than I ideally wanted to start. I got approved for a Income Driven repayment plan, because my salary isn't very high. Things were fine for about a year or two. I was paying every month and my credit was getting better. After I got married, my husband and I filed our taxes jointly for the first time. Then, without notifying me, Fedloans changed the automatic payment amount from {$120.00} to well over {$700.00}. They said it was because we forgot to renew our application for income driven repayment plan, since apparently there is an expiration date. Once applying it asked if we would be willing to share our IRS tax information. My husband and I spoke to at least 3 agents from FedLoan and said that even though my husband makes more money, he wouldn't be responsible for my loans. After they REapproved the income plan, they kept the amount at $ 700+. Then we called again and this time we got a different answer. " Right.. He isn't responsible, but you're still responsible to pay your loan and this is based off both of your incomes. '' So how can they tell me that he's not responsible, then a week later, say he is responsible. I haven't been able to pay these past 2 or 3 months and now they're damaging my credit again. Unfair and very dishonest. If anyone 's reading this, and they tell you that your co-signer won't be responsible, DO NOT LISTEN. They are not " legally '' responsible, but the only option they give you is.. your husband is responsible because his income is $ XXXX, XXXX.

Consumer Complaint: The late remarks are sporadic. One account, XXXX, the OK payments was followed by CO remarks. Fedloan also reports late though there are no late remarks to prove it. THis is really getting out of hand. I have been disputing them for the longest time. Please help me get rid of those inaccurate accounts.

Consumer Complaint: 1ST NOTICE PHEAA continues to provide OUTDATED and UNTRUE information to the Credit Bureaus with extreme confidence. As of XX/XX/2020, my credit report says the account is CURRENTLY PAST DUE. This WAS true up until XX/XX/2020. A payment was made on XX/XX/2020 in the amount of {$360.00} to bring the account current. Issue: Dealing with your lender or servicer

Subissue: Received bad information about your loan

Consumer Complaint: For the last ten years, I have faithfully made each of my student loan payments while following all of the prescribed guidelines to fulfill the requirements to qualify for the Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program ( PSLF ). After successfully completing the required 120 payments, and submitting the proper paperwork to FedLoan servicing I have received non-answers or have been given conflicting information regarding the status of my application for forgiveness. Since XX/XX/2019, I have been working with FedLoan to have my loans processed and forgiven. For four months, it appears that no meaningful work was completed and only as of XX/XX/2019 was my information sent to the Department of Education for further processing. The lack of clear communication between FedLoan and the Department of Education is beyond frustrating. And to add to the frustration, when speaking to representatives with either FedLoan or the Department of Education ( Federal Student Aid ) they say that the other office/department is responsible for the processing of my application for PSLF. This whole situation is extremely frustrating, for 120 months I have done my part and lived up to my end of the bargain regarding PSLF and now that I have surpassed the 120 payment mark, I have been left to hang out in the wind. I can get no information as to the status of my application and when I can anticipate a payoff date. I am trapped in my current job because, due to the requirements, I have to remain employed by a non-profit organization to receive the payoff via PSLF. This entrapment is now having a financial impact on my longtime earnings potential. I need to know when my loans will be forgiven!

Issue: Incorrect information on your report

Subissue: Account status incorrect

Consumer Complaint: Looking at my credit report I noticed I had 16 late payments. Late payments were XX/XX/XXXX, XX/XX/XXXX, XX/XX/XXXX and XX/XX/XXXX. During this period I had lost my job due to business relocating out of state. Even though I wasnt able to make payment on my loan, would it not be one late payment per month? I have one account number with sequence numbers that fall under the one account number. Unless I have four different account numbers but I can only find one. I've tried to get a goodwill adjustment for my student loans two years ago with no success. I feel that 16 late payments is a little excessive in four month period.

Issue: Dealing with your lender or servicer

Subissue: Received bad information about your loan

Consumer Complaint: I am enrolled in the Public Service Loan Forgive was program now under REPAYE. My payment count has been adjusted - some loans same 84 payments- others 70s or lower. All were repaid at the same time and the counts should be equal. I have asked many times for a recount and after 1.5 years- it still isnt done. Second- there was an error on their end when resubmitting my IDR application on their end which they did acknowledge. This mistake though cost over 10K of interest being capitalized. They were supposed to fix that and still have yet to do that. Would be so grateful for any assistance with this matter.

Issue: Dealing with your lender or servicer

Subissue: Received bad information about your loan

Consumer Complaint: In XX/XX/XXXX I consolidated XXXX XXXX total amount should have been {$14000.00} & XXXX XXXX - total amount should have been {$9100.00}. the amount are incorrect. Loans were return back to the loan servicer from the school. which for some reason it is still showing I own the amount tht was return. I have been trying to resolve this issue with no help from fed loan. I have filed some many complaints. And the amounts are showing on my credit report. I have reviewed, my student data report shows the loans amount that was return. but fed state they have no record of it. I have a XXXX XXXX XXXX for XXXX but my credit report shows {$12000.00} XXXX return {$290.00} back to the loan servicer on XX/XX/XXXX.
