Issue: Struggling to repay your loan

Subissue: Problem lowering your monthly payments

Consumer Complaint: I have been wanting to pay off on my private loan but they want me to pay XXXX a month which is too expensive. They will not work with me on lowering my payment. My co-signer and I are divorced and he does not work enough to contribute to the payment. I am simply seeking a lower month ly payment. I have also applied for some forebearances that I am told I am eligible for then I am denied. Inconsistent information and advice gets frustrating especially when I am doing what to can to pay my loan off.

Issue: Attempts to collect debt not owed

Subissue: Debt was paid

Consumer Complaint: AES/PHEEA is reporting to XXXX, XXXX, and XXXX a debt that was paid in full. The company is reporting XXXX, XXXX, and XXXX dates of last activity XXXX and XXXX. I have contacted this company via telephone. The company states they do not understand why XXXX, XXXX, and XXXX are reporting the outdated date. The only thing they can persist is XXXX XXXX continues to report. The debt last date of activity XXXX and XXXX which is well over the Federal Regulations for reporting status of seven years on my credit reports. These amounts effect my debt to income ratio.

Issue: Dealing with your lender or servicer

Subissue: Trouble with how payments are being handled

Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/XXXX Fed Loan Servicing transferred my Student Loan to a nw loan service provider ; consequently, they did so the day before my ACH pmt was set to debit my account. I have called Fed Loan as they deducted the money and never applied the XX/XX/XXXX pmt to my account balance prior to transfer. Pmt amount was {$140.00}, balance was {$23000.00} according to XXXX statement and credit reporting. XXXX the new service provider now has my account set up with a 27 past due delinquent status ; furthermore, will be taking a double pmt on XX/XX/XXXX. Fed loan had advised my money can sit in a pending transfer account for 60 days. I need fed loan to update the XXXX balance to reflect the pmt. {$23000.00} less {$140.00} XX/XX/XXXX pmt. I also would like interest daily for the error they should have foreseen.

Issue: Dealing with your lender or servicer

Subissue: Received bad information about your loan

Consumer Complaint: I graduated with approximately {$30000.00} worth of student loan debt in 2012. I was already working full-time as a XXXX at the time so immediately tried to enroll in the PSFL program . Due to the fact that I made very little money as a XXXX, and I was eligible for the PSFL, I was enrolled in an income based repayment plan which stated I owed {$0.00}. Eventually, I made enough money not to qualify for this and to my shock, was also told that the payment plan I was in did not qualify for PSFL even though I was told that it did. Even though I owed {$0.00}, the interest on the loan was not forgiven so I essentially ended up owning more than I started with because of this repayment plan that was pitched to me as the savior and the easiest way for me to put in my 10 years of public safety and get my loans forgiven. Eventually I refinanced out of fed loan servicing into a private loan company because I was tired of being lied to and misled. Regardless of the repayment plan they put me on, every one except the standard 10 year repayment plan was structured to COST my more money than I was paying off. With the new PSFL rules in place, I feel like Fed Loan Servicing stripped me of the ability to have my loans forgiven, even though I have had 12 years of continuous public service and continue to do so. I had to make a choice between continuing to participate in a broken system that was never going to follow through with its promises or cut my loses and walk away. I don't know if there is any hope for help, but I feel like FedLoan Servicing acted intentionally and with malice in an effort to deceive me for monetary gain.

Issue: Dealing with your lender or servicer

Subissue: Trouble with how payments are being handled

Consumer Complaint: XXXX is my current Dept. of Education loan holder. I have been working toward PSLF since graduating with my first degree in 2013. I have had many issues with PSLF over the years. Most notably, long recertification application times. They have placed my loans under " administrative '' forbearance multiple times for many months. They have also failed to process my " in-school deferment waiver '' forms that I have submitted. I went back to school but continued to work full time for a PSLF eligible employer and continued to make payments. I was only made aware of the deferment after requesting a PSLF employer certification count. I have requested that fedloan resolve this issue about every 3 months but they " have a backlog of requests. '' Now that they are dissolving their contract, I would like to have this reviewed before they stop servicing my loan.

Issue: Dealing with your lender or servicer

Subissue: Received bad information about your loan

Consumer Complaint: I qualify for loan forgiveness under the temporary pslf. This was in effect before the XX/XX/XXXX waiver, which I also qualify for. Fedloan has noted my account that some loan payments qualify for XXXX, and some don't. There are payments missing. I've made payments on the loans since XXXX, and have bad them consolidated as Direct loans since late XXXX. I am not entitled to forgiveness and a refund. The payments were auto debited, I did have a payment due for each payment made despite fedloan showing no payment due for 13 months. I called to ask about correcting the count. I was initially told that FedLoan would eventually do it. I explained a couple times that I was already entitled to forgiveness and wanted to be done with it, and requested a recount multiple times. I was then told it would be requested in their system, but that there would be no way for.me to verify online that it was going to happen.

Issue: Struggling to repay your loan

Subissue: Can't get other flexible options for repaying your loan

Consumer Complaint: my original loan was for XXXX XXXX bought my loan on XX/XX/XXXX for XXXX. years XXXX, XXXX my payments were late because they could/would not change my due date so that it would be due around my pay period so each month I was given a late fee. by XX/XX/XXXX my loan principal was XXXX I then made payments without late fees for the rest of XXXX, XXXX, My hXXXX then had a major XXXX in XX/XX/XXXX. They reduced my payment but would not put it on hold. so again, I stopped paying XX/XX/XXXX. XX/XX/XXXX after my legal XXXX. I restarted auto pay and continued payments until XX/XX/XXXX. At that time i was made aware that I have paid so far XXXX dollars. For this loan of XXXX. They say I still owe over XXXX dollars. I think Since I have given this company double of what my loan is that it should be at least paid in full. I no longer have the well paying job that I had and at the age of XXXX have only been able to get part time work doing XXXX XXXX. They said I was not eligible for any of the programs to have my loan forgiven. How can I get them to accept the amount that has been paid as payment in full.

Issue: Incorrect information on your report

Subissue: Account status incorrect

Consumer Complaint: I went to check my credit as I always do because Im in the middle of purchasing a home I am a first time home buyer. When I check my credit I found out that my credit score have been lowered by 72 points on all of the credit companies. I then reached out to the lender that I was working with and she explain to me how to handle it. I called the federal student loan company to tell what had happened he informed me that the federal student loan has a right to close my account and transfer it to someone else. I told him I understood that however the Fed student loan company did note it in my credit report. Neither did they note that when they closed my account that my account was in good standings and it was of no fault of me as the consumer that my federal student loan account was closed. Nor did I have anything to do with it, as a matter of fact I did not even know until I went to pay my monthly payment and it was rejected.

Issue: Dealing with your lender or servicer

Subissue: Trouble with how payments are being handled

Consumer Complaint: I applied for the XXXX when the loan forgiveness was initiated. My loans have been consolidated and passed from company to company. In the process my loans have been put in deference sometimes against my request. I made payments during that time to keep interest low. I have resubmitted my employment verification several times and it was either denied or dismissed. Currently they are not crediting me the payments made prior to their service and the ones made in deference even though I have submitted paperwork. They are claiming it's out of compliance but won't help. They also claim that my work ended in XX/XX/2021 even though my work says I'm currently still employed. So none of my payments from XXXX on are counted.
