Consumer Complaint: There was a vehicle purchased back in XX/XX/XXXX from a dealership and being that at the moment my grandfather didn't have credit my information was used as the account holder and my grandfather was the co-signer on property in question. My grandfather became sick back in XX/XX/XXXX and I was taking care of the payments for him until XX/XX/XXXX he passed away. I did call and speak with an Santander Customer service rep and I informed her of what had taken place. Maybe about a month after the vehicle was repossessed. According to the Fla Statute 537.012 I wasn't informed on where I could retrieve the items out of the property, nor did I receive a written notice about the sale/auction of the vehicle if I wanted to get it for myself now that the co-signer had been deceased. After, the property was sold at an auction I was notified with a written notice until it showed up on my credit report. I tried disputing this with the company numerous times with no success. They are negatively reporting almost every month updating new late payments when I haven't had possession of the property in question since XX/XX/XXXX. I have been trying since XX/XX/XXXX to get this information straighten because it is hurting my credit. The individuals that work at this company doesn't care about anything and are quite rude when spoke to upon the phone.

Consumer Complaint: My car was repossessed by XXXX XXXX Wednesday, XX/XX/XXXX, due to me being three months behind on payments. I have been sick and dealing with paying bills at the same time. I have asked this company to give me a chance to catch up, with no success. This company for the last year has been harassing me for payments, so I had a cease and desist request put on my account, but I was never informed that my car would be repossessed. XXXX XXXX never gave me a chance to retrieve my personal belongings and now l has to come up with {$1500.00} by XX/XX/XXXX to get my car back. I've been met with rude, condescending representatives at all levels trying to resolve this issue. The last correspondence I got from XXXX XXXX was XX/XX/2018. I don't appreciate being treated like a criminal. I've tried my best to keep up with the payments, but this company refuses to work with me. I'm going to file a complaint with the Illinois Attorney General 's office.

Consumer Complaint: I paid off a vehicle with Santander XX/XX/XXXX, I submitted a request through the dealership XXXX XXXX-XXXX, Florida for refund of GAP insurance on XX/XX/XXXX, I never received the refund. In XX/XX/XXXX, I contacted the dealership and I requested the refund again, was given two different numbers to call. Contacted Santander again and their company called XXXX, I sent in the requested documents on XX/XX/XXXX. Still no response I resubmitted the request again on XX/XX/XXXX, I received a letter from XXXX that states the refund would be issued by Santander in 90 days to check back XX/XX/XXXX. I spoke with a representative at XXXX today and was told if refund is approved it would have a cancellation date of XX/XX/XXXX instead of the original date the loan was paid off in XX/XX/XXXX.

Consumer Complaint: I went to the Santander web site to make my XX/XX/XXXX payment, as I always do, when the previous month 's Social Security Benefit payment goes into my checking account on the third Wednesday, which in this case is XX/XX/XXXX. Using Santander 's XXXX XXXX Speed Pay tool, I made my normal monthly payment, of {$220.00} plus the XXXX XXXX money transfer fee of {$2.00} for a total payment of {$220.00}. The payment showed as pending just after I submitted it, which is normal. ( see attached document ). But by Wednesday evening, it had not cleared, and it usually does within about 3 hours. I just checked the account online and there is no payment showing as " pending '' and it still shows my XX/XX/XXXX payment as being due. ( See attached document ). There is no record of the pending XXXX XXXX payment. It has disappeared -- and it has never done that. Santander is known for this kind of activity and they put the burden on the consumer to keep the account current. You can imagine my distress knowing I just paid them the only money I have to make that car payment -- and they have no record of it. But I do! I always save screen shots of receipts when I make payments to them. They are as crooked as Light is Day. I have all the files showing the balance due, the payment history showing the payment as pending, the XXXX XXXX payment receipts and the screen shot of my checking account showing Santander deducted the money from my account using my debit card. ( See attached documents ).

Consumer Complaint: Hello, I purchased a car, ( XXXX XXXX ) in XX/XX/XXXX. The price was {$17000.00} and I put down {$1500.00}. At the time I has just started a job after being laid off for a year and need a car badly. I have my payments automatically deducted out of my bank account, so they are always on time and I have not missed a payment. The payments are $ XXXX monthly. I have paid a total of {$16000.00} to date. I went online to see my payoff amount last year ( XX/XX/XXXX ) and it was approximately {$8000.00}. I asked if I could refinance the balance in hope of getting a lower interest rate and was told that they do not refinance. Ok, I continued to make my payments, diligently making sure the available funds were in my account. Hoping to pay off the loan early. I checked online again in XX/XX/XXXX and it was XXXX. Which I though was in error. I called and was told it was the interest. I called again yesterday and was told the new balance is {$11000.00}. After some back and forth with the rep that answered the phone, I asked to speak to a supervisor. Once the supervisor got on the phone, she said it was the interest rate. I asked how can I have a 5yr term loan if the balance is going in the opposite direction from where it should go. She again said it was the interest. I then said how can I have a maturity date with a policy like such. I told her I have had multiple car loans and I have never had the balance increase rather than decrease unless there was a missed payment. She said she car refer me to the President of the company and someone from his team will call me. I have not heard from them to date. I think however they are compounding their interest it is causing consumers to pay an extremely high cost even when they are making payments on time. I also asked if there was an office I could go and talk to someone and she said there was not office. I can not believe this is legal. The company is XXXX XXXX XXXX. I opened the account in XXXX, PA

Consumer Complaint: I was in an auto accident XX/XX/XXXX and the car was classified as a total loss by XXXX. They sent SANTANDERCONSUMERUSA the check for the vehicle {$16000.00} minus my {$1000.00} deductible on XX/XX/XXXX. I was left an underwater amount of {$6500.00} since I had GAP insurance XXXX electronically sent {$5600.00} to SANTANDERCONSUMERUSA on XX/XX/XXXX. I swiftly paid the remaining {$940.00} out my pocket which was the deductible but they refuse to apply the GAP to my auto loan to XXXX it out. GAP was supposed to help me pay this car off swiftly so I can finance another vehicle. SANTANDERCONSUMERUSA continues to add interest on my account and ignore the GAP payment sent. I was informed by XXXX after numerous attempts for help that SANTANDERCONSUMERUSA applies this when they feel like it was her exact words. This can not be right and something needs to be done to these negligent companies who abuse there fiduciary duties with unethical business practices soley for there own financial gain.

Consumer Complaint: Dealer racially discriminated against me, ran my credit again to lower score even tho I was pre approved. Sold me a bad car with a insane interest rate that did not match my credit score because of predatory lending to XXXX XXXX. Car broke down a day after buying and I was stuck on side of highway. Had to send complaint to attorney general who mediated car being fixed but took so long payments were missed and loan went bad because I had to pay out of pocket for things dealer lied and said they did when they did not. Also paid XXXX down was suppose to go to car but later learned dealer lied and this was a fee to do loan, even though loan was submitted before entering dealer. Things were so bad I never even got the car tagged up, dealer also never offered to finance my tags into the deal after robbing me for the only cash I had in down payment money and not putting it toward the loan! Complained to finance company and all the did was request payments and demand car back.
