Issue: Threatened to contact someone or share information improperly
Subissue: Talked to a third-party about your debt
Consumer Complaint: I believe this company is sharing information to people with the intention of collecting debt. I had someone who I believe is somewhat affiliated with this business ( XXXX XXXX formerly of Virginia ) contact my place of business and Participate in harassing activity and intentional fraud. I believe they have done this several times over as well as having this updated beyond seven years, at this time theres a settlement in place and which Im paying on however I believe that this is retaliation to a former complaint that was filed against portfolio recovery. I believe they have done this for over seven or eight years and I believe that they are accessing bank accounts and checking balances and expenditures based on the information they receive from companies to collect debt. It is racketeering at the minimum. It is human trafficking for them to profit while placeing people in the disadvantaged position. I dont know circumstances to anyone from portfolio recovery or any debt collection agency be ever allowed to conduct business with anyone with access to the holder of an account under the supervision.

Issue: Attempts to collect debt not owed
Subissue: Debt is not yours
Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/22 I received a letter from Portfolio recovery is attempting to collect a debt {$470.00} that they purchased from XXXX XXXX XXXX for pennies on the dollar, that neither company would validate and sold. I had it removed off my consumer report then Portfolio recovery bought the debt and placed it back on my consumer report with out my knowledge. Now they are contacting me at my private address that I gave them no permission to do so. I do not have any contract with them nor have they validated the debt, they just sent me a copy of some paper statement that can be printed out. They have the debt listed as collection/charge off on my consumer report which is illegal since they did not charge it off or have a contract with me. I have contacted them and ask to stop reporting this debt and discontinue reporting any trying to collect this debt. They ignored me and said they validated it which I know they did not.
