Issue: Trouble using your card
Subissue: Can't use card to make purchases
Consumer Complaint: For a couple of years I 've been able to exceed the max balance by {$2000.00} as long as the entire over limit balance is paid each statement. On either XX/XX/XXXX o r XX/XX/XXXX , I thawed my credit to apply for a personal loan with them which was declined. The main weighted reason for the decline was derogatory public information. I did n't know what this was so I checked my credit and there is a medical debt collections account for {$350.00}. Well, I had no knowledge of this debt and I 'm working to get it removed. I have received no written notice of debt and no one has contacted me regarding it ( even from whatever the original company was ) , it just showed up. Well, my card was over the limit ( but still within the grace period ) and they started declining charges a week later. When I called them they would n't acknowledge a grace period, would n't acknowledge a set grace limit ( which I had been told was {$2000.00} for me XXXX . I feel they are using the untrue collection information they obtained in the personal loan application ( through that credit pull ) and are using it against me on the credit card I have had in good standing for over 10 years.

Consumer Complaint: In XXXX XXXX Navy Federal Loan Officer , XXXX XXXX , informed my wife and I via email that we would be able to be down the mortgage rate from 5 % to 3.75 % for {$12000.00}. My wife and I set a closing date for the sale of our old house and the purchase of our new house in XXXX XXXX . In XXXX XXXX , XXXX informed us via email the amount to buy down the rate changed from {$12000.00} to {$24000.00}. My wife and I did not have the additional {$12000.00} to buy down the rate. We would lose our deposit of {$5000.00} if we did not go thru with the purchase of the new house so we moved forward and incurred a serious financial hardship by having to incur a monthly mortgage payment we did not plan for as a result of XXXX XXXX lack of honesty/candor. I subsequently reached out to XXXX XXXX manager, XXXX XXXX , Loan Operation s Manager, Navy Federal, and sh e has shown an unwillingness to help us refinance our house or provide a mortgage modification.

Consumer Complaint: I have spoken with Navy Federal Credit Union on multiple occasions. NFCU is the only company I have an issue with in getting SCRA full benefits for my husband. All the other companies lowered the interest and the monthly minimum due using the same paperwork and same DoD website that NFCU refused time and time again. After being denied SCRA benefits ( of interest reduction ) for months, being accu sed of lying about my husband 's XXXX XXXX service, they finally corrected that. However, they refuse to lower the minimum due. This is against SCRA as well as, ironically, the information NFCU has on their 'Military Pay ' App. SCRA specifically says a financial institute CAN NOT accelerate the payment of the principal balance. By NOT lowering the minimum due, that is exactly what NFCU is doing. Attached is a screenshot from their APP, stating " Furthermore, the monthly payment must be reduced by the amount of interest saved during the covered period. ''

Issue: Advertising and marketing, including promotional offers
Subissue: Didn't receive advertised or promotional terms
Consumer Complaint: On XXXX XXXX , I received a promotional offer in the mail from Navy Federal Credit Uni on ( NFCU ). It stated that if I opened a Go Re wards Credit Card account I could get a 2.99 % interest rate on balance transfers with no balance transfer fees. It directed me to apply at www.navyfederal.org/go299. A fter I applied, had my credit checked, and requested to transfer my balance, I received their disclosures in the mail which said the interest rate on balance transfers was 10.24 %. I called NFCU to find out if 10.24 % was the balance transfer interest rate and I was told it is and that they had no knowledge of any 2.99 % promotional offer.

Consumer Complaint: Recently, I was sent an invitation to join Navy Federal Credit Union. I applied online, and then received an email requesting additional identification documents with a link to upload them. I received a confirmation email saying that I would receive notification of my membership with in 10 business days. Three we eks later after not hearing anything, I called the phone number listed in the email. I was told there was a flag on my account. I was transferred to some department where a lady named XXXX informed me that I owe {$600.00} t o NFCU f rom XXXX . I told her I was a member a long time ago, but do n't recall when. She told me that I joined in XXXX , which I vaguely remember ; but I told her that I do n't remember when I last used my account. Since XXXX , I have filed for bankruptcy in XXXX , repaired my credit, paid ALL debts, and successfully qualified for a home loan. I explained that to XXXX , and asked why this debt was never reported to any collection agency or credit bureau. I also asked why a formal invitation had sent to me, if this alleged debt is blocking my joining. She mumbled something about records being purged. At that point, I told her that I had no knowledge of the debt other than her word, and informed her that I no longer have any interest in doing business with NFCU. This was a complete disservice, as I was required to submit some very sensitive information. It feels like a phishing scam.

Issue: Problem with a lender or other company charging your account
Subissue: Can't stop withdrawals from your account
Consumer Complaint: Good day. I am filing a complaint against Navy Federal Credit Union in what I believe to be illegal and false loan practices. I had several credit accounts with Navy Federal ( cr edit card, line of credit, overdraft protection ) that fell behind due to illness. Although I made small payments, the accounts were still behind. I received a call from Navy Federal in e arly XXXX XXXX asking if I would be interested in a consolidated loan for all the accounts. As I had returned to full-time work in XXXX , I was excited and eager to get everything back on track. After speaking to the gentleman on different occasions, I was happy to agree to the loan as long as there was disability/death protection coverage, as well as the interest rate couldnt be higher than whatever was the highest rate on my various loans/credit cards. The gentleman assured me that wouldnt be a problem, and that I had been approved. He advised that the promissory note coming would provide that information, as well, that until I signed and returned the promissory note, the loan was in a temporary approval. I received the promissory no te ( attached ) and the interest rate was wrong, and more importantly, no disability/death insurance was included. I immediately started calling Navy Federal to advise my concerns, and that I didnt w ant the loan. I was placed in someones voicemail, and assured that someone would call me back. I did NOT receive any calls regarding my complaint, and desire to void the loan. Each call was to advise that I missed the first payment, and wanted to know if I wanted to make arrangements for the payment. Each time I advised that the loan was INCORRECT, and I never agreed to the terms of the loan. Each time I was PROMISED the original loan agent would call, and to this day, Ive NEVER received a call from this individual. The only person who has at least attempted to resolve this issue has been a XXXX XXXX at XXXX . XXXX XXXX was able to provide the following dates that I called : XXXX XXXX , XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX , and XXXX XXXX , XXXX XXXX , XXXX XXXX , XXXX XXXX , and XXXX XXXX , and XXXX XXXX . I also have an email that I sent on XXXX XXXX XXXX , regarding the loan, that I never received any response. Im sure there are more calls, but I cant prove this. Additionally, Ive asked to have a copy of the recorded calls released to me, which Navy Federal has refused. Navy Federal has deduc ted and replaced funds from account on XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX , and the lat est was XXXX XXXX which they are refusing to return. At this point, this loan should be voided, as well as removed from my credit report. Im not sure what can be done regarding compensation, but clearly this is all illegal. The only resolution they are offering is to place me in a voice mail where no one returns my calls.
