Issue: Opening an account
Subissue: Unable to open an account
Consumer Complaint: I attempted to open an account and was denied via email. The so called customer service was evasive, unprofessional, refused to answer why. I was not provided any explanation after being on hold for half an hour and being on an abusive, obnoxious phone call. What an unprofessional bank.

Consumer Complaint: I have a NFCU auto loan that is not even 15 days past due. I get paid on the end of the month so I always pay the same month it is due. NFCU takes money form my checking or savings without my knowledge and applies it to this loan. Not only do they take any money that is in my account to apply it to partial payments, they charge me a late fee and overdraft fee 's after doing it. I tried to call and discuss this and was told it is a legal practice. I have a {$270.00} payment and they took {$37.00} out of my checking today which was the last amount that I wrote a check on the day previously so now I get a late fee and I also get bounced check fee 's because I did not know they were taking this out. thank you for looking into this. XXXX

Consumer Complaint: I have several accounts with Navy Federal Credit Union - personal checking and savings, business checking and savings, and credit card. I am 10 days late on my credit card payment - TEN days, not 30, 60 or 90 - with a longstanding good history with this bank. I get paid Friday - but today, they withdrew my entire checking account balance without my knowledge, to apply it to the credit card.

Consumer Complaint: I currently bank with Navy Federal Credit Union. I recently made a deposit of {$3500.00} that my brother loaned me. This check was to help me pay some bills that I am behind on. Navy Federal has frozen my accounts and locked me out of my account. Furthermore, they withdrew funds from my daughter 's account to back pay some of my bills without my consent or my daughter 's consent. When I called to speak to a representative, I felt they made threats to me about canceling my accounts and me not being able to bank with them.

Consumer Complaint: Navy federal Credit union has been reporting for almost 2 years the following account : XXXX, {$500.00} credit limit, {$270.00} Delinquent Balance, open XX/XX/2013. I'm listed as an authorize user, on my XXXX Credit report. It has been verified as my account for about a year, when I finally contacted Navy fcu, on XX/XX/XXXX, and spoke to XXXX. The had difficulty locating the account ( I do not have any open accounts ), and ask me quite a bit of my personal information which I didn't feel comfortable giving. They informed me its not my account, I'm listed as authorize user, and that I had to submit a fraud Claim with them to get it remove from XXXX. XXXX informed me they would contact me after they complete a 90 day investigation. No correspondence whatsoever, and they continue to verify it when I dispute it. Even worse in XX/XX/XXXX or XX/XX/XXXX of this year, they made the late payment history more extensive, by literally adding an extra year of late payments which cause my score to drop a 100 points. They are directly responsible for me not being able to use my credit, and only getting approved for {$1000.00} limit credit card. This is abuse of reporting at its finest, and worst of all XXXX constantly refused to delete this item, even when I clearly showed them it was not mine and what they did.

Consumer Complaint: The State of California passed legislation that requires every bank who does business in the State to submit every customer 's social security number into an Automated Data Matching System, see sections 17450 - 17456 of the State of California Family Code. The XXXXXXXX XXXX and the Navy Federal Credit Union have submitted my social security numbers into the State of California 's Automatic Data Matching System without first notifying me to opt out, or to dispute, or to challenge these actions in Court. These actions by Navy Federal Credit Union and XXXXXXXX XXXX violate the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act, Dodd-Frank Act and the Right to Financial Privacy Act. I am entitled by law to be notified first before my non-public information is submitted to any third party. Since late 2013 over {$3000.00} was frozen then taken out of my joint savings account with my son and joint checking account with my wife and in both instances, this was not my money they took. Please enforce the laws that we had Congress pass to protect us from the very activities these banks are doing.
