Issue: Struggling to pay mortgage

Consumer Complaint: Dear Sirs and Madams, We are addressing this correspondence to your office in the hopes of receiving assistance with the current dilemma involving Nationstar d/b/a XXXX. XXXX XXXX XXXX. We refinanced on a property that has been in our family for over 4 decades in XXXX to do light renovations and repairs. However in XXXX our family was devastated with the unexpected decline in our mother 's health. She was diagnosed with XXXX and she had to stop working and needed care so we began taking care of our mother at her residence. Then and there our financial hardships began. Our major needed necessities such as mortgage, utilities, healthcare, etc. started to become very difficult to maintain as we were also impacted by other uninsured medical expenses in order to maintain the quality of care our mother required. The emotional impact of the loss of our mother also affected the business, the events planning and expansion of our business ventures to come. As a result of the aforementioned unfortunate event we were faced with the decision to contact Nationstar for the loan modification in effort to reinstate our good standing and reorganize our business. The struggle continued and near the end of XXXX it started to get worse. It began when Nationstar put a forced-placed insurance on our property and we were told once we had put our regular commercial insurance back on they would take off their forced-placed insurance from our monthly note and our payments would go back down to our normal monthly rate. We fell behind on ( 3 ) three months on our monthly note in the middle of XXXX. We sent a monthly payment of {$1000.00} on XXXX to Nationstar, that they filed and stamped and then returned the check on XXXX with a letter stating it doesn't meet minimum amount due.To note we were in the 1st steps of a loan modification. We sent Nationstar a certified mailed check of {$4200.00} in XXXX to catch up with our mortgage, which they cashed, and 2 weeks later they sent it back XXXX. Feeling very concerned we called to find out what was the problem on the returned checks and the agent said it was not enough according to her screen. Then she said her screen was showing we owed {$5500.00}. So after hanging up we went to the screen ourselves to verify the amount and to our total surprise it showed an accelerated amount of XXXX. XXXX weeks later on XXXX we sent a cashier 's check of XXXX to Nationstar mortgage to urgently and desperately become current on our mortgage and Nationstar sent those funds back as well. We called Nationstar to see why those funds were sent back and we could not believe they had told us that we sent them a Cease and Desist letter which was a total unbelievable fabrication on their part and very upsetting that such a major corporation would say something like that. We asked the agent could she tell us who signed or wrote the letter and could she please send us a copy of this so-called letter we know we did not write. She said sure and put us on hold for a few minutes and when she returned to her amazement she told us the letter was not there. She said it had only indicated on her screen that there was one. In closing the reasons we are suffering this devastating horrible turn of events, where our livelihood and legacy is currently being taken away from our family and community. According to Nationstar the reasons behind their denial of our much needed loan modification was due to condemnation and incomplete paperwork. Our building has never been condemned and were left in the dark on the " incomplete '' paperwork. They denied us the opportunity to get back in good standing with them. Now we suffer in agony due to an unjust and intentional sheriff sale. We hope and pray that the CFPB will investigate this matter and help us restore our lives. Sincerely written, XXXX XXXX

Consumer Complaint: My name is XXXX XXXX. My husband and I live in XXXX, Fl. and have since XX/XX/XXXX. We were in the direct path of hurricane Irma. We had a small tornado travel, quite literally, along the side of our property, taking out about 9 large trees. We called Mr. Cooper/ Nationstar in XX/XX/XXXX, and were told about the disaster deferment, where by they would simply roll three months payments to the end of our Mortgage note. ( We were seeing our principle drop by almost {$100.00} every month, when this began ) We accepted. In XX/XX/XXXX, we got a regular Mortgage billing statement, and having already almost lost our home over escrow the very year they purchased our mortgage, I panicked and we called in. We were told to disregard that notice, that we were in the deferment. We were told that the statement was computer generated, and just hadnt caught up yet. We were told the same thing In XX/XX/XXXX. In XX/XX/XXXX, we were told they wanted us to apply for a loan modification. I argued that we can afford our Mortgage payment of {$560.00}, which includes the insurance, not the taxes. We were told it is only a procedure for our lender, who needs to know exactly why we are three months behind. We have applied for this loan modification, and had to reapply, and had to submit all of my income and expenses, and I am not on the mortgage, but am on the deed, including the foster care income for having my grand daughters given to us to raise in XX/XX/XXXX. To date, we STILL do not have this modification, they are not, and have not reported our payments that we began making again, as scheduled, in XX/XX/XXXX, since XX/XX/XXXX. Our home is a permanently affixed XX/XX/XXXX XXXX, Refinancing it is near impossible. Selling it is equally difficult. Nationstar/MrCooper has offered NO assistance to Rehab, or replace, or refinance this home. What they Have let us know is that their options are as follows. Foreclosure, Deed in Lieu, where by we surrender the home and maybe they'll give us a little money to relocate, or short sale. We filed a complaint, they responded with that. We were told that they may be able to assist with relocation, if we are able to sell this home. Then told They cant do that because we are three months behind on our mortgage. Insult to Injury that they themselves caused. What I have learned is that due to their failure to report, it looks like we have not made any payment since XX/XX/XXXX. Making lenders leary to work with us. If the loan modification completes, we wont be able to qualify for a mortgage for over a year. And we are pretty much at their mercy. When they bought our mortgage, they doubled our mortgage payment from {$460.00} to {$760.00}, due to insurance. We fought for three months, it took a {$3000.00} loan from our newly widowed daughter to keep our home, then. On our current payment history per their web site, which I do have and can provide, they arent not putting any money to our principle. Meaning that to date, they have pocketed about $ XXXX of our money. Or more.

Consumer Complaint: This nightmare started when the broker mortgage from XXXX gave us a loan tu buy this property, he said this is a good loan and they called Pick a payment .This form of is very bad, because if the loan officer does not explain well about the facts and the whole concept of this loan. Its dangerous of sending the minimum payment because if we did, the payment does not cover the principal and not part of the interests and it is like not paying anything. If we understand well this loan, we would no have to bought this house. After that XXXX closes for made that kind of loans .My loan was transferred the Loan to the XXXX XXXX XXXXXXXX and we have to fight with them in order to get a other kind of loan because this loan we have was illegal, with the house crisis the property became underwater like a half price but nothing happen .I am in the loan, but the payment was made by me and my father. We had a hard time when my father suffers a XXXX XXXX very serious .We lost his income and I tried myself continue with the payments .But the medical expense were very high I talked to the bank for some kind of help, because I can in that moment continue with the payments, that situation can be temporarily, also my father come in XXXX for several months the bank accepted a new application because my father past away and we need to restart the loan payment, but Nationstar take 2 years in the new modification and never allowed to send the payment when we are ready to continue with the payments .in the middle of the negotiation the again transfer to another bank without telling us anything, also in that moment I want to file a complaint that because they had cancelled my home insurance and had ordered another very very expensive one with minimum protection and very high deductible. With all this I felt that this purposely delayed the modification, because they wanted to us to loose the house .I and my family have a real hardship with illness and deaths that was real. The new Bank called Mr Cooper has the responsebility to fixing this situation, And now I get married and this change all.I need the bank remove all the illegal charge they charge to my loan because this illegally increase the amount of the loan .With all this I want to request a new loan with a fairly monthly payment .I just do not want my senior mother, my XXXX sister and his baby became a homeless for many illegal o errors of the banks.I have had some lawyers checked the entire loan and find serious errors since this loan was started. The rent of the apartments are very high in this area and I could not help my mother .my sister and his bb to pay for a home for them .That is my request to keep the house, the only house we have for me and all my family Thanks for your time and hope we keep our house.

Consumer Complaint: My loan with Mr.Cooper/Nationstar Mortgage is being foreclosed on. I have not received any statements on this mortgage since XX/XX/XXXX. I mailed a letter to Mr. Cooper on XXXX XXXX I notified them that the balance they has was correct and specifically which payments they were stating they have not received. I requested a current itemization of that account. I received a letter in the mail in XX/XX/XXXX notifying me that my payment amount increased in XXXX and I was never notified until that date that the payments were incorrect or a statement. They stated that in XX/XX/XXXX my payments increased from the XXXX to {$1000.00} and that in XX/XX/XXXX they payments would increase again to {$1100.00}. In the paperwork they sent a paper that said my mortgage had been transferred to them in XXXX. This paper noted that my Principal was {$160000.00}. My mortgage principal was {$140000.00} on the original note that closed on XXXX XXXX. My original P & I was {$930.00} & escrow was {$150.00}. I asked Mr. XXXX XXXX from loss mitigation with Mr. Cooper on XX/XX/XXXX and I asked him why my principal had went up. He stated it was because of escrow, which I could not understand because I thought that amount was not added to the principal. I also asked why I was not mailed statements and he said that the post office returned the mail they sent. Which I also thought was funny because I receive the loan modification information but never a statement. In XX/XX/XXXX I was four payments behind. I made two online payments on XXXX XXXX and I then mailed two checks to completely catch my payments up. These payments were sent back to me. This would have caught the payments up that I was behind. I contacted Mr.Cooper/Nationstar Mortgage to ask why they sent the payments back and he said it would not have cured the default because of the difference in the payment amount that started in XX/XX/XXXX that I was never notitifed of. The balance of that amount would have been {$980.00} due to the change in payments. I asked to pay the past due balance to Mr. XXXX which would have been up to XX/XX/XXXX {$7100.00} with the balance from the months that included the payment changed. He stated that I would have to pay lawyer fees now. The balance they had was incorrect. I spoke with XXXX with Mr. Cooper to get a reinstatement amount which was {$11000.00}.

Issue: Problem with a credit reporting company's investigation into an existing problem
Subissue: Their investigation did not fix an error on your report
Consumer Complaint: I see that Nationstar XXXX Mr. Cooper removed the false report with the credit bureaus regarding, Natural Disaster ONLY with XXXX and XXXX. Yet, the report sent neglected to improve my FICO score that was hit hard, -20+ points after the, Natural Disaster report was falsely submitted by your company. We were in agreeance that a positive report being submitted to have everything reversed, including false, Natural Disaster report. I will need this re-submitted so my FICO score can be re-established. I know this is possible after XXXX Nationstar Mr. Cooper did submit a report weeks prior to the false negative, Natural Disaster report and FICO points were positively established. Please listen to taped phone call conversations approximately 2 weeks prior to the false credit reporting, Natural Disaster that per all three credit bureaus, that false negative reporting did play an important role in the decline of my FICO score. This is only a touch of the continued false, malicious, intentional reporting by Nationstar XXXX Mr. Cooper. The last time was using my identity and adding over {$100000.00} without my knowledge to my existing loan. A police report and identity theft report, credit froze by all three credit bureaus against those who continue doing false reporting by someone at XXXX Nationstar Mr. Cooper. I will need this change, removing once again, the false reporting, Natural Disaster in a POSITIVE report submitted by XXXX Nationstar Mr. Cooper to ALL three credit bureaus so FICO my score points can be re-established and this false reporting is removed completely. This as we spoke on the phone Mr. XXXX XXXX agreed, as well when I spoke to all three credit bureaus, can be done with a positive report submitted by XXXX Nationstar Mr. Cooper. Something your company has yet to do, but once, then you in turn have someone submit more false reporting as well additional negative comments. Once again, what we agreed upon is still not being corrected as your company only submitted an update on my mortgage balance with XXXX, XXXX and did not remove the false reporting claim of natural disaster off of my credit report with XXXX. I spoke to them an hour ago, they stated they received an update only on the balance of my loan. XXXX Nationstar Mr. Cooper did NOT send any positive report or change to remove the false malicious reporting. Once again, your company as we agreed per our conversation was to submit a positive Report with the credit bureaus and by having the false reporting of a, Natural Disaster REMOVED which would help re-establish my FICO score points that were taken away due to once again false reporting from your company, natural disaster. I need this issue addressed in a correct urgent proper manner with all three credit bureaus. I also need positive reports added to help reverse the false claims and accusations by your company which was maliciously reported and falsely reported with the credit bureaus. I also need every single payment now reported to all three credit bureaus. Your company per taped conversations stated that AFTER the forbearance period was up, which it is, that ALL my payments since the beginning of my VA mortgage loan would be reported. As of this afternoon, they are still NOT being reported. Refer back to your taped conversation phone calls over the course of the past 12 months for your reference. This all started due to your XXXX representative, XXXX XXXX XXXX misguiding me to stop making payments on my VA mortgage loan due to issues we had with the prior owners hiding major repairs that had not been addressed, but instead hidden by photo frames, furniture, etc. Your company did admit that Mr. XXXX was in the wrong and made a settlement to close the forbearance and last payment owned during the forbearance period. I have as well brought in other parties on this issue as well as the Attorney General 's Office, Consumer Department in the state of Indiana so this matter will finally cease and not continue on with malicious false reporting by XXXX Nationstar Mr. Cooper. I will as well continue with CFPB complaints until this is resolved. I also submitted all parties copies of the phone calls with credit bureaus proving that the issues still as of this late afternoon, have NOT been resolved. Yet, XXXX Nationstar Mr. Cooper sent a CFPB reply to myself the consumer, stating all the issues have been changed, addressed with the credit bureaus just a few days ago. No ... the ongoing issues with the latest malicious intentional false reporting have not been corrected. I have also reached out to FEMA with regards to a taped phone call converstation with myself and with XXXX Nationstar Mr. Cooper manager and representative within the past few weeks that blamed FEMA for the false reporting. I have as well reached out to my insurance company, they have never heard of such false reporting and in turn, blaming FEMA. Both parties have no reporting of any such NATURAL DISASTER in my area that would warrant XXXX Nationstar Mr. Cooper to submit on a report to all three credit bureaus on my credit report with my VA mortgage loan. Mr. XXXX also on a taped phone call conversation, instead of letting me know this serious matter would be handled ASAP. He stated, " Maybe it's time you should find a new lender and refinance through a different bank. '' Instead of owning up to the companies continued false reporting and not reporting all payments with the credit bureaus. Who as any large bank representative states such a thing? I brought this up to my current bank and they stated, " Why would any bank say such a thing? Just fix the issues, it isn't that hard to submit a report to the credit bureaus and take ownership of the incorrect reporting. '' This ongoing matter of false reporting has been going on for almost 18 months and is taking a grave toll on my wife 's Health who is a current XXXX patient. Consumer Complaint: In XXXX of XXXX I returned from a hike with XXXX XXXX. I went to my primary care doctor to get examined. During an XXXX, it was discovered that I needed and immediate XXXX XXXX and on XX/XX/XXXX I had the XXXX XXXX XXXX. I fell behind on my mortgage payments as I could not work and was able to secure a loan modification from Nationstar Mortgage ( now Mr. Cooper ) in early XXXX. My recovery took much longer than expected and I fell behind on my mortgage payments again but was able to borrow enough money to make the payments up ( reinstatement of the loan, {$45000.00} ) in XXXX. Still unable to work I fell behind again and have filed numerous loan modifications over the last 18 months all with the same result ; they will not modify my loan as the payment will go up. I have continually stated " I will accept a higher payment as I can now afford it as I am working full time now. '' Mr. Cooper always says NO! I have secured the help of a HUD Counselor to see if he can get Mr. Cooper to agree to the higher payment ( just a few dollars more a month ) or allow me to make the payments I am behind by paying the mortgage plus 50 % ( I am {$23000.00} behind ) and of course they say NO! I have a loan modification in their hands now as directed by the HUD counselor and they served me with a Notice of Default on XX/XX/XXXX while in loan modification and while negotiating with the HUD counselor on my behalf. It seems their only interest and motivation is in getting my $ XXXX cash equity in my home. The actions by Mr. Cooper are very unfair as you have a person that wants to stay in his home of 15 years and wants to pay a higher modified mortgage payment or wants to pay the mortgage payment plus 50 % to make up the past payments but they say NO! It makes no sense! Please help me!
