Issue: Managing an account
Subissue: Problem using a debit or ATM card
Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/2023 at the Chase XXXX XXXX XXXX branch in XXXX XXXX, CA, I was making a {$36000.00} deposit with the teller. A fraudster came alongside me at the teller window saying I dropped money and was handing me a {$20.00} bill. Unbeknownst to me, he approached me at the precise moment I had entered my Pin Number. Also unbeknownst to me or the teller, he also stole my Debit Card. Within 30 minutes at a branch in XXXX, he made 3 ATM withdrawals from Checking, his female accomplice made 1 inside branch withdrawal ( {$4800.00} ), and then 4 more ATM Checking withdrawals ( {$3600.00} total ). I didnt know I had been robbed until 45 minutes later when I received a Chase Fraud alert. I checked my wallet and saw my debit card was gone. I returned immediately to the branch and Chase opened two Fraud claims- one for the {$3600.00} in ATM withdrawals and one for the in-person {$4800.00} Savings withdrawal. I filed a police report. The officer subpoenaed 4 tapes. The final Police Report states that XXXX saw the two tapes Chase provided and saw the thief withdrawing my money from two ATMs in XXXX. It also mentions a woman ( the one who impersonated me inside the branch to withdraw the {$4800.00} from my Savings account ). NOTE : XXXX subpoenaed four tapes but Chase did not comply. Ironically, the two tapes Chase refused to supply were the exact two Fraud told me they needed in order to pay my claim : 1. Male seeing me input my pin and stealing my card at the teller window, 2. Female inside the branch withdrawing {$4800.00} in cash. On XX/XX/XXXX, my ATM Claim for {$3600.00} was paid in full. However, Chase Fraud denied the {$4800.00} in-person claim. ( That transaction was sandwiched in between the seven that had been deemed Fraud. ) I appealed and was denied again due to lack of care. It has been 4 months and I am still out my {$4800.00}. I heard from different sources that this same couple robbed other victims around that time in a grocery store, banks, etc. I can not believe that Chase has denied this claim, given the evidence presented. Their refusal to comply with the subpoena that would have validated my claim is unacceptable. Chase agreed that I was robbed and defrauded of my ATM cash at 6 transactions - but the inside branch transaction that took place at the same time was denied. Please note : I went to the teller to deposit {$36000.00}. I only use my debit card inside the branch where I should have been safe. ( I never use it anywhere as my bank records will attest. ) I was robbed in front of the tellers window. How can Chase deny this claim? Its criminal.

Consumer Complaint: I have been trying to transfer my mortgage proceeds out of my checking account and into a savings account at a different bank. I was able to transfer roughly 85 % out to this separate account, but have spent the past week trying to get the remainder out. Each time I try to transfer, Chase cancels the transaction and deleted the account from my approved transfer list. Each time I have called chase and they have told me I need to use a wire transfer, which incurs a fee. They have repeatedly told me the only way to get my money out of the account is to pay this fee. Ive spent over 2 hours on the phone with them in the last week and they have not been able to tell me what the issue is- they just keep repeating that I need to pay the wire fee.

Issue: Problem with a purchase shown on your statement
Subissue: Credit card company isn't resolving a dispute about a purchase on your statement
Consumer Complaint: This complaint goes with the previous complaint I filed with you. This all started in XX/XX/2022. My identity was stolen and my Chase account was hacked and ran the account up over {$6000.00} in charges. They even made fake payments on the account to continue with fraudulent charges which this made the account over drawn from the balance on the card. I have been working with a consumer lawyer to help with this. They have had this account removed from my credit report. Then this week I received another letter from Chase as the account is valid and I am responsible for the {$6000.00}. I am no paying for charges that are not mine. Chase has been awful towards me and has done nothing to help me and I was a loyal card holder with them. They never called me back, I sent in the police report and other documents. They answers were we are still reviewing this and its so annoying and frustrating the way they have treated me.

Consumer Complaint: I tried to open up a bank account a while back and I was denied. Chase would not give me a reason for this denial. All they said was that I had a previous account with chase. I've never had a banking relationship of any kind with Chase. I'll be attaching a police report and and FTC report to this complaint.

Consumer Complaint: My account became overdrawn XXXX USD because of a lost wallet where I already reported my passport stolen that is now XXXX for international travel. Chase Bank is lax wuth their overdraft protection allowing excessive overdrafts to occur in extreme situations like my own. The process for unauthorized ACH 's is prolonged where I must wait to receive an affidavit statement by XXXX mail first and hopefully within the 10 business day timeline. I have a substantial secondary account in the meantime, but the claims process is overwrought when in my instance a lost/stolen identity is straightforward where XXXX XXXX returned the money taken from unauthorized debit card transactions immediately.

Consumer Complaint: I went down to Chase bank three Saturdays in a row to open a CD. They were sick, they were on vacation, they were busy. They told me to open my own CD on line. I said you have to be kidding me. They said no. I opened a CD. This is the first month I am due interest. It never showed up in my account. I called them. They said I had chosen the option to have my interest paid at the maturity date of the CD. This is NOT true. I was never given that option. I was suppose to see my interest every month and it was suppose to go in my account so I knew I was getting it and I could see what I was getting. I called Chase. The reference number is XXXX. No one could help me modify the CD and said I had to go to the branch????? The whole process was totally misleading. I should not be opening my own CD on line with no one to explain things to me. I opened another CD at another bank and it went perfectly. Chase has zero customer service. When I called them they had to transfer me to four different people before anyone even knew what I was talking about and that person said I had to go to the branch where no one is ever available. I want my interest on my CD to show up either in my CD or transferred to checking account monthly so I know what I am getting. At this point I am getting the run around and am being told that nothing can be done and see you XXXX, XXXX, 2024 and at that time I will know what I am getting and can get my interest money and how much it will be???? I plan on taking all of my money out of Chase on that date and never doing business with them again. XXXX XXXX

Issue: Getting a credit card
Subissue: Card opened without my consent or knowledge
Consumer Complaint: On the evening of XXXX XXXX XXXX, I saw that I had received two emails from Chase Bank on XXXX XXXX XXXX about a credit card that had been opened in my name. I also received a number of alerts from various companies that monitor my credit and banking transactions about a hard inquiry to my credit for the credit card. I did not open a apply nor opened a new credit card. Since discovering the fraudulent activity ( i.e. opening a credit card w/o my knowledge or consent ), I contacted my credit monitoring agency ( XXXX XXXX XXXX ), Chase Bank , and my local law enforcement ( XXXX XXXX Police Dept . - Non-Emergency ). Luckly, nothing was charged to the credit card. I have placed a freeze on my credit with all 3-credit bureaus, had the credit card cancelled and marked as fraudulent, and my Chase Bank password changed. I did see a phone number on my Chase account, under " Profile & Settings '', that I did not recognize ; XXXX. That phone number has since been deleted from my Chase account. I can provide screenshots that I took before I made changes to my account and/or the emails I received from Chase Bank regarding the issuance of the credit card, if you wish. I am more than willing to discuss this further over the phone too.
