Consumer Complaint: I believe that Chase is inflating credit card balances. I monitor my balances very closely, pay regularly and keep it at around {$500.00}. With this particular card, I stopped using it for a few days to test this out, and on Sunday paid a large sum so that the balance came back down to around {$500.00}. Specifically, this past Sunday XX/XX/XXXX my balance was {$2500.00}. I paid {$2000.00}. On Monday after the payment was processed the balance was {$620.00} dollars and there was only a new charge of {$53.00}. Every other charge was was older, had already been included in the {$2500.00} balance and there were no pending charges. Still the numbers dont add up. Today the balance is {$670.00} and there are no new charges. Small increments, yet I cant tie them to any charge. This happens regularly. Perhaps people dont notice and when they do l, Chase always chalks it up to in transit or pending charges. There are none of those in this example. Whatever was on the balance was already reflected and stated. Ill say it again, theres nothing new charged on the card. This is concerning and you should look into it. If true, the scale of fraud would be immense, and this has happened before at other banks as you know. I truly hope you are a serious agency.

Issue: Getting a credit card

Subissue: Sent card you never applied for

Consumer Complaint: I received a Chase Freedom Flex credit card in the mail that I did not apply for. I called Chase, XX/XX/2023 at XXXXXXXX XXXX, they said they would close the account. I asked how was the account opened and when? They could/would not answer. We had received a few emails from Chase a few days earlier about a checking account, we thought they were SPAM and sent them to JUNK. I dont know if someone used my name to open the account or if someone from Chase opened one for us in hopes of us just accepting the credit card and activating it, and them getting the incentive pay for signing us up. This needs to be invetigated. Thank you.

Issue: Managing an account

Subissue: Deposits and withdrawals

Consumer Complaint: I had a savings/checking account with Chase Bank . Account number, XXXX. On XX/XX/XXXX, I received an email from Chase : " Please tell us if you, or someone you authorized, used your Chase card ending in XXXX for : Declined Transaction XXXX XXXX {$440.00} XX/XX/XXXX '' I clicked no. My acct was immediately canceled. On or about XX/XX/XXXX I called Chase and asked them not to cancel my acct, I was told it would not be canceled and a new card was sent out on the XXXX and would arrive within 5 days from that date. My new card did not arrive until XXXX, XXXX. XX/XX/XXXX I walked into chase at XXXX XXXX XXXXXXXX, XXXX, and spoke with a woman who didn't grasp that, I acknowledged the fraudulent charge, but I did not want my card canceled because I had auto-pay bills, rent was due, and " can you please re-instate it. '' She said " call the number on thhe back of the card, I can not help you. '' I said what about him and pointed to a man who appeared angry with someone and identified himself as XXXX, the branch manager. XXXX, seemed incensed I had asked for his help and rudely asked, what don't you understand about " we can't help you? '' He told me to leave the bank. I walked back to the woman and said, I'm sorry, we seem to have gotten off on wrong footing, can you please give me another chance to explain my predicament? I explained, I need access to my account to pay my due bills today. I explained how I already called the number on the back of my card and they said my account was reactivated and the charge removed but, my card was not reactivated. She said, let me call the number. She put me on speaker and the person on the phone explained it wasn't just the one charge, but there were many more that they determined could not have come form me. I said, then by all means cancel my card. The representative then said sorry the new card wasn't sent, we will overnite a new one and you should have it tommorrow. Case closed? No. When I tried to use the new card on XX/XX/XXXX it was declined and I discovered all my credit cards had been canceled. I called Chase fraud immediately and was told the note on my account said I was " inapropriate with a customer. '' I asked what does that mean? I am the customer. She said, it seems the customer complaint was actually from an employee. Hah! I said, does it say that employee 's name is XXXX? She said she wasn't allowed to confirm that but then mumbled, " yes. '' She added there was no way to reactivate my cards. On XX/XX/XXXX I went into the Chase XXXX XXXX branch. I withdrew the last of checking XXXX XXXX. I filed an in house complaint with a female banking exec. I was told I would hear back from them in 3 days. I haven't - XX/XX/XXXX. This action has negatively impacted my credit and has resulted in late fees from auto-pay accounts not paid. How can one peevish, disgruntled employee have that kind of executive control to cancel a customer who has never been in arrears in six years? I want Chase Bank to allow me an appeal. I want them to alert the Credit Rating bureaus and have my credit restored. And I want an appology. Thank you, XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXXXXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX IL XXXX

Issue: Problem caused by your funds being low

Subissue: Non-sufficient funds and associated fees

Consumer Complaint: It is completely unethical for banking institutions such as XXXX XXXX and Chase Bank, two banking institutions that I both use to have egregious fees associated with not having enough money in your checking account on a daily basis. Most people right now are living PAYCHECK TO PAYCHECK. I am being charged {$25.00} a month because I am not able to maintain a starting daily balance of {$15000.00} in my checking account. The lowest option for Chase bank is to have a daily starting balance of {$1500.00}. What happens when I need to pay my bills? I would love to have an extra {$1500.00} to just sit in my bank account doing nothing, but unfortunately I like many others do not have that luxury. To be punishing people for being poor by making them pay more money is horrific and extremely immoral. These banking institutions are continuously bailed out by the government any time they need. I am disgusted.

Issue: Problem with a company's investigation into an existing problem

Subissue: Investigation took more than 30 days

Consumer Complaint: I am writing to file a formal complaint against JPMCB CARD ( Account Number : XXXX ), JPMCB CARD ( Account Number : XXXX ) and JPMCB AUTO ( Account Number : XXXX ) for multiple violations of federal credit reporting and consumer protection laws. My complaint is as follows : 1. Violation of the Fair Credit Reporting Act ( FCRA ) : JPMCB has failed to adhere to the FCRA 's requirement for accuracy and privacy of consumer information as outlined in 15 U.S.C. 1681, particularly section 604, which mandates that a consumer reporting agency may not furnish personal information without my explicit written consent. 2. Violation of the Truth in Lending Act ( TILA ) : Under 15 U.S.C. 1666b, a creditor is prohibited from treating a payment as late unless it has reasonable procedures to ensure statements are delivered at least 21 days before the due date. I have not received adequate or timely billing statements to fulfill my payment obligations. 3. Business Account Misclassification : One of the accounts in question is a business account and should not be reported as an individual account. This misclassification has led to incorrect reporting and potential damage to my personal credit report. 4. Lack of Communication : I have not received periodic statements, invoices, or any communication that would allow me to manage and verify the debts reported by JPMCB, which is a fundamental consumer right. 5. COVID-19 Pandemic Protections : During the COVID-19 pandemic, I was entitled to certain protections and accommodations under federal guidelines, which JPMCB failed to provide or communicate. The aforementioned issues have caused significant harm to my credit standing and have impeded my ability to access financial products. I request that the CFPB investigate these matters promptly and take appropriate action to rectify the violations and provide relief as warranted. Enclosed are all relevant documents and correspondence related to this matter. I trust that the CFPB will address this complaint with the urgency it requires. Thank you for your attention to this serious matter.
