Consumer Complaint: I am being harassed. Last week, I began the process of applying for a mortgage. During that process I have contacted 3 mortgage companies to look at competitive rates. Along with that I authorized Experian, XXXX, and XXXX to run my credit score and send reports to those 3 specific banks. Afterwards, starting Monday XXXX and all day today XXXX I have received nearly XXXX phone calls and dozens of unsolicited texts offering more competitive rates. I never opted into sharing my information. Only after I started being harassed did I research and discover XXXX where I can ask to opt out of these types of phone calls. This can take 5 days, and my name and phone number are already out there. The people calling me are unsolicited strangers, and they know my name, phone number, email, and credit score. The harassment is incessant and has caused me distraction at work.

Consumer Complaint: I am submitting a complaint regarding incorrect negative information on my Experian credit report. Despite multiple disputes, Experian continues to report a bankruptcy filing from XX/XX/XXXX, reference # XXXX that does not belong to me. This false bankruptcy information is severely impacting my credit score and ability to obtain credit. I have contacted Experian multiple times to dispute this incorrect information, most recently on XX/XX/XXXX, but they have failed to adequately investigate and remove it from my report. Experian claims they verified this bankruptcy information with XXXX. However, when I contacted XXXX, they stated they had no bankruptcy records for me at all. Additionally, the court of Maryland confirmed they do not report bankruptcies to credit bureaus. I have provided Experian with all relevant information to prove this bankruptcy filing is fraudulent, including my full legal name, SSN, current and previous addresses, and statement that I have never filed for bankruptcy. However, they refuse to remove this damaging information from my credit file. I am requesting that the CFPB assist me in getting Experian to properly investigate this fraudulent bankruptcy listing by contacting the courts and getting confirmation directly from them, and permanently delete it from my credit report, as well as any other necessary remedies to restore my credit score from this false information they are reporting.

Consumer Complaint: According to the Fair Credit Reporting Act ( FCRA ) 15 USC 1681 section 602 ( a ), it is essential to ensure that consumer reporting agencies carry out their significant responsibilities with fairness, impartiality, and respect for the consumer 's privacy rights. As a consumer, I have the right to safeguard my private information, as supported by 15 USC 6801, which emphasizes the Congress 's policy that financial institutions must actively protect customer privacy and the confidentiality of nonpublic personal information. A " furnisher of information to credit agencies, '' classified as a financial institution, falls under this title. 15 USC 1681 section 604 ( a ) ( 2 ) stipulates that a consumer reporting agency may only provide a consumer report in accordance with the written instructions of the respective consumer. I want to make it clear that both the financial institution ( Furnisher of information to credit agencies ) and the consumer reporting agencies, XXXX and Experian, lack my consent to furnish this information, and they certainly do not possess my written consent. Any form of consent, whether verbal, non-verbal, written, implied, or otherwise, granted to XXXX, Experian, or the Furnisher of information to credit agencies is hereby revoked. Referring to 15 USC 6802 ( b ) ( c ), a financial institution can not disclose nonpublic personal information to a nonaffiliated third party without explaining how the consumer can exercise the nondisclosure option. The Furnisher of information to credit agencies failed to inform me of my right to exercise this option. Furthermore, 15 USC 1681C ( a ) ( 5 ) explicitly prohibits a consumer reporting agency from including adverse information in a consumer report without authorization. This account, reported as an adverse item, is being presented without my permission, violating the law. According to 15 U.S. Code 1681s2 ( a ) ( 1 ) ( A ), a person must not furnish information to a consumer reporting agency if they know or have reasonable cause to believe the information is inaccurate. 15 U.S. Code 1681e mandates every consumer reporting agency to maintain reasonable procedures to prevent violations and restrict the furnishing of consumer reports to specific purposes. XXXX and Experian are failing to uphold reasonable procedures. Additionally, 12 CFR 1016.7 affirms that a consumer has the right to opt out at any time. I am choosing to opt out of your reporting services.
