Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/XXXX I received a form 1099-C from Discover Bank also Discover Card, Cancelling the debt I owed. The discharged amount became my personal income for the year XXXX and taxes were paid to the IRS per form attached. On XX/XX/XXXX I received a letter from Discover stating that I owe {$10000.00} ( Discover Card Account Ending XXXX - Same account reported on IRS Form 1099C and only account I have hold with Discover ). Discover is demanding full payment on my account, XXXX Account ending in XXXX ), for a debt that they cancelled, reported the IRS as being cancelled and I paid taxes. This is Tax Fraud and Consumer Fraud. I need help holding Discover and Discover Bank accountable for FRAUD. Is this happen to any person based on the amount, it will be considered a Felony. Over the years this has impacted me and my family as I was denied credit and other opportunities as Discover was reporting to the credit bureaus that I have been delinquent in paying my debt even though they issued a form 1099C for cancellation of debt. This company is committing fraud in MN, I wonder how many other people may be impacted.

Consumer Complaint: Received message and noted previous complaints closed WITHOUT resolution. Also, emails to " Executive XXXX '' being FULLY IGNORED. Documents attached, as well as original complaint ( below ) I am looking for FULL IMMEDIATE RESOLUTION - that is MY FUNDS RELEASED and distrubuted to an account of MY CHOSING, as I will NOT accept a paper check ... Here is original complaint ( my latest email is in next section ) : Complaint : XXXX Complaint : XXXX Since initial complaint was filed on XX/XX/XXXX, I received a email from XXXX XXXX, Executive Office of Customer Advocacy for Discover Bank. That was on Friday XX/XX/XXXX. I have heard nothing since. I have emailed him 3 times ( XX/XX/XXXX, XX/XX/XXXX & XX/XX/XXXX ) - No Response. Still no communication or access to MY IRS REFUND that was deposited via Mobile Check Deposit. CFPB has let this fall through the cracks - nothing done - and since my initial complaint - ZERO progress!! Here is what I initially sent in ... Regarding account ending XXXX - Jnt with My Son. On XX/XX/XXXX, via MOBILE Deposit, I scanned and deposited MY IRS TX REFUND CHECK into MY Discover account ending in XXXX. Two days later, my account was locked and I have been unable to access my account. Can not log in online, can not call in, as I get redirected to some RUDE people, who will NOT tell me anything. They continue to tell me that my account was closed on XX/XX/XXXX, and that I would receive information or any money in the account after 60 days ... .UMMMMM WHAT?! I never received a letter, a call, email, fax or any communication from Discover Bank, in reference to my deposit being held, my account being frozen or ANYTHING. When I call in, I am told that - you have to wait, and there is nothing I can do about it - - I have the recording ... .RUDE! Well - as of XX/XX/XXXX - 60 days would have been XX/XX/XXXX or so. So I called again, SAME THING ... .RUDE, no answers, telling me to basically kiss off my account and MY money ....!!!! SOOOOOO Done .... If they claim ( LIARS ) that they sent me something in postal mail, I want copies - again I want proof they sent me something ... Their actions are punitive, and I want my funds WIRED into another account I designate ... .IMMEDIATELY - I quite prepared to take this to court ... .My refund check was in excess of {$15000.00} - I also want all the interest they earned off MY MONEY - want all detailed accounting, showing what THEY earned from my money, and XXXX. Interest rate they will claim I earned. I consider what they are doing as misappropriation of funds, embezzlement and other major infractions. I want IMMEDIATE RELEASE of my money - wired - NOT BY PAPER CHECK - WIRE OR EFT/ACH ONLY - to an account I designate, within 3 days of receipt of this complaint. PERIOD ...! I have attached the letter I forwarded to the IRS along with other documentation.

Consumer Complaint: About 3 months ago I opened a secured account with XXXX. After my card was delivered I was unable to use it as I was prompted to pass an IRS tax return review, to which I complied, the process mentioned 5 to 7 business days, about 2 weeks after I was able to use my card and would regularly make my payments. Nevertheless about 2 weeks ago my account was blocked again as Discover claimed that my Tax Returns Gad not been verified. About 3 days ago I was able to log in and make payments, but this morning after trying to settle my balance I notified an irregularity, my account was closed. I received no notification in the mail or electronically and further my secured fund will only be disbursed in 60days. As a consequence my credit score has plunged 50points which to me are VERY crucial as I am in the process of purchasing a house. I am astonished at the whole process.

Consumer Complaint: Discover I have reached out to your office multiple time asking you to provide me the information to who you have place discover XXXX with you first stated that you had handed it down to XXXX but I reached out to XXXX they stated they were no longer handling it for you and I sent you the paper work in writing. This had been going on for sometimes and your refusal of giving me any information is not acceptable on my behalf. As of this this XXXX day of XX/XX/2020 I XXXX XXXX XXXX at XXXX hrs ask of your company to cease and Desist all Further collection on this account. You have violation my rights and the FCRA as well as FDCPA I asked of your office to remove the adverse account from all four of the credit files. Immediately. I asked you months ago to note the accounts of each of the credit bureaus you refused which made this a violation of a federal and you know this is what made me Escalate in contacted XXXX when you delete this from all four reporting agencies I asked that you sent me in writing that the unverifiable information has been removed. All you had to do is what I asked you to do months ago you were quick to run back and add the required noticed on the report in which I know you did due to the fact that I have alerts on my report if anything is added to the report other then deletion after XXXX hrs today legal action will apply due to cease and desist request I thank you for your full Cooperation and look for to your letter with the deletions.

DISCOVER CARD CLOSED MY ACCOUNT WITHOUT EVEN ME BEING ABLE TO USE THE CREDIT CARD, DUE TO A " BUSINESS DECISION '' THAT WAS MADE BECAUSE THEY WERE NOT ABLE TO VERIFY MY IDENTITY. I GAVE THEM ALL NECESSARY DOCUMENTS INCLUDING MY TAXES, DRIVER LICENSE, AND SOCIAL SECURITY CARD. NOT ONLY DID THE CLOSURE OF THE ACCOUNT HURT MY CREDIT, IT PUT MY OTHER CREDIT CARDS IN DANGER AND XXXX ALSO CLOSED MY CREDIT CARD. MY XXXX CREDIT CARD LIMIT WAS XXXX AND DURING THE PAST 6 MONTHS OF USING MY CREDIT CARD RESPONSIBLY AND PAYING MORE THEN MINIMUM PAYMENT REQUIREMENTS, BEING SUCH A GOOD CUSTOMER CLOSED MY ACCOUNT FOR NO REASON, AND ALSO HURT MY CREDIT SCORE FOR THE CLOSURE OF THE ACCOUNT. i HAVE PAID OVER XXXX $ IN CREDIT CARD PAYMENTS THROUGHOUT THE 6 MONTHS IN WHICH MY ACCOUNT WAS OPENED, MULTIPLE PAYMENTS IN A MONTH, USING AND PAYING RESPONSIBILY. SO UNFAIR THAT THEY CLOSED MY CREDIT CARD BEING A GOOD CUSTOMER, PEOPLE STOP PAYING THEIR CREDIT CARDS FOR 4 5 MONTHS AND THEY DONT CLOSE THEIR ACCOUNT, YET I HAVE BEEN A GOOD CUSTOMER PAYING MULTIPLE PAYMENTS IN A MONTH AND USING RESPONSIBILY THEY CLOSED MY ACCOUNT AFTER HAVING A GOOD HISTORY WITH THEM. AND THEY DONT GIVE A LEGITIMATE REASON AS TO WHY I DESERVE TO HAVE THE ACCOUNT CLOSED, WHEN I HAVE BEEN SUCH A GOOD CUSTOMER. I AM DISAPPOINTED IN BOTH CREDIT CARD ACCOUNTS. Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/2020 at XXXX XXXX. I called Discover Credit XXXX I was first connected to someone at a call center in, I believe Michigan with a name of XXXX. I told her I was denied for Discover student credit card and wanted to apply for secured credit card. She connected me with someone in " acquisitions '' named XXXX. XXXX said I was denied due to my address. I updated my address and agreed to move forward with secured credit card application. She told me she did a hard pull for discover student card. However, I believed that she knew I wanted to apply for the secured credit card since I specifically stated this when I called XXXX at XXXX XXXX. on XX/XX/2020. I disagreed with XXXX. Then I was connected to supervisor XXXX XXXX after this and again on XX/XX/2020 at XXXX XXXX. I told him I was pre-approved for a secured card and thats what I thought I was applying for with XXXX. He refused to offer any resolution. Without reaching a satisfactory conclusion he said he wouldn't be available to speak about this until Monday XX/XX/2020. I called Discover again XX/XX/2020 at XXXX XXXX and spoke with a gentleman in the XXXX center who connected me with supervisor. I explained that I wanted to give opportunity to make this right in lieu of going to Consumer Protection Bureau. She said they can not remove an inquiry no matter what. However, her statement contradicts what XXXX XXXX told me that an inquiry could be removed but he did not find any reason to do so. She said she was going to again connect me with someone in " acquisitions '' she said that they can not remove an inquiry and I gave her an opportunity to make this right in lieu of going to CPB. She declined and I informed her I was reporting this to Consumer Protection Bureau.

Consumer Complaint: Discover Bank advertises prominently on its website that customers can use XXXX to transfer money via a Discover Bank account. I have had issues before where Discover just won't accept money from certain payment transfer services and have, in face, have had to refuse money from a friend a few years ago from what I believe was XXXX XXXX. So, knowing how difficult Discover can be, and relying on the information that I see literally every time I log into my account, I told several co-workers that they could send me money via XXXX for a group baby shower gift. My account still has an ad for XXXX. But I can't connect to my bank account. And when I emailed Discover for help, XXXX told me that I can not, in fact, link XXXX to my bank account, and there is no known fix date. A quick search of the internet revealed to me that this has been going on for many months- Discover is knowingly advertising a service that it will not let its customers use. This feels fraudulent.

Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/2020 I made a purchase from the merchant XXXX XXXX XXXX {$1400.00} was charged to my Discover card. This card is set up through my XXXX account. After trying to obtain information requested to return the item within the 30 day return policy period and not getting a response from the merchant, I filed a dispute with Discover. After filing the dispute, XXXX sent an email indicating they had been notified by Discover that a dispute had been filed and would not handle the dispute since I filed the dispute through Discover. After several e-mails back and forth with the merchant, I was finally able to return the merchandise which was received by XXXX XXXX XXXX on XX/XX/2020. In the meantime, Discover ruled in the merchant 's favor and resolved the case on XX/XX/2020. On XX/XX/2020, I contacted Discover and spoke to a Customer Service Associate, told them the merchandise had been returned so I should be credited the amount. They instructed me to upload documentation supporting that I returned the item and to call them back once I did this. I did as instructed, called them back but was told that because in an email the merchant stated they had refunded my XXXX account, they could not credit my account and I needed to contact XXXX. I explained that I never received a refund via XXXX. Furthermore, XXXX is a pass through when using a credit card, therefore, the amount would not be refunded to my XXXX account. I didn't use XXXX funds, I used my Discover card. And if they had refunded me as they claimed, they would've provided me proof when I disputed that I hadn't received a refund, but they clearly lied because it would've went back on my Discover card. I was then told that they needed proof that the returned merchandise went to a physical address since XXXX tracking only showed the city and state of delivery. I contacted UPS who sent me proof of delivery to the address on the shipping label which I uploaded to my Discover site. This was reviewed by another CSA and I was told that this was sufficient and that they would need to have a Team Manager review and then reverse their dispute decision. I was supposed to have been called back and never heard from anyone. I called the following day to speak with now a fourth CSA only to be told that once again, they can not credit my card due to the XXXX email. So now, the merchant received the item and my money! I went through all of this rigmarole just to be right back to square one. I've checked my XXXX account 's Resolution Center that shows a case history and the info is updated based on Discover 's investigation. It states that the case is closed and was decided in the seller 's favor.
