Consumer Complaint: Apparently someone fraudulently applied for an XXXX student loan through Discover for {$20000.00}. I received two letters from them where it states it was denied because they could not confirm my identity. I spoke to the fraud department on several occasions to try to have this hard inquiry removed from my credit report and I had to explain that it was not me who applied for this loan. Someone else applied without my knowledge or permission but they said they were not allowed to share the email address with me of who applied they said I would have to file a police report. At this point I just want it removed as a hard inquiry on my report one of the letters I received is dated XX/XX/2021 the application ID is : XXXX, Discover address is : XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX, Utah XXXX. They told me they would send an email to the three major credit bureaus explaining that this application was done fraudulently but I could only confirm with XXXX that it was removed from there end. It is still showing on my XXXX report and as for XXXX I can not get a hold of a live person. XXXX informed me that I had to write a written complaint regarding this and also to write to you guys explaining as well so that FTC could send me a form that I can in turn send in to XXXX credit reporting.
