I attempted to contact them in order to see why someone had created an account in my name. This is a serious matter, and I'm disappointed that it's now having an effect on my credit score. I do not give anyone permission to use my name, date of birth, or any other personal information since it violates Data Privacy. They must determine who started the account in my name and simply transfer the information to that person. Kindly help me in fixing this issue.

Consumer Complaint: I opened an account with Citibank and received the card on XXXX XXXX, XXXX ; however, it had the incorrect last name. When I called to get it corrected the representatives asked me for my security word, which I gave them what I remembered. They said it was incorrect, when I asked them to provide other verification questions they kept asking me if I have another Citi account, which I do not. The ONLY account I've ever had was with my ex-husband. We've been divorced for six years and I have not used or had access to it since XXXX. They went on to try to verify me through text message ; however, they said they couldn't text me because they couldn't verify that my phone number XXXX is owned by me. I gave them the alternate mobile number that I use for work purposes ( also owned by me ) and they couldn't use that either. Then they requested a landline. I don't know anyone under the age of 65 that still has a landline phone number. Finally, they said they'll send me a letter in the mail in 5-7 days. I travel frequently for work and will likely not be home to receive the letter- to which the most recent rep suggested that I should have someone open my mail and read it to me such as a neighbor. I was also told I can not go into a physical Citibank branch with my IDs to rectify the error. It has been over three weeks since I was told Id receive a letter in the mail with a code to verify my identity and I have not received anything. I can verify this with the USPS daily emails of mail to be delivered. Furthermore, I have emailed the executive customer service e team every day with no resolution. I used the temp card and because I cant log into the system I have no way to pay the balance and the corporate office is of NO assistance.

Consumer Complaint: I applied for a secured card with Citi Bank on XX/XX/2022. The application was declined with guarantee of funds in the form of personal deposit. The credit has been displaced for 7 years without any significant change in scoring or evaluation with lenders. This has prevented me from having an emergency credit card for life necessities, etc. This has discriminated against me in first time home buyer programs by age discrimination, I know I should have been able to purchase a home in my XXXX 's like everyone else but they all filed bankruptcy and started again with a new car the next month and a new home the following two years. You can see all of my scars and stripes and that really isn't anything on my credit but student loans that requires decent income for payment of the education receieved ; The last fair or equal lending receieved was with XXXX bank for $ XXXX credit card/split in two for rewards my XXXX year in college. A college kid caring more about sign up rewards instead of limit. Honestly, the value scale may have proved to be in my benefit because it would've have appeared worst. I'm tired of being discriminated against with everything!

I activated the reward. I was contemplating replacing our custom shower door and this prompted me to do so. I called my credit card BEFORE I charged {$2400.00} to XXXX XXXXXXXX XXXX XXXX to verify that this purchase would give me that deal. They assured me it would.
( I have other credit cards that would have given me a cash back for that purchase but I chose this great deal instead ) As of yesterday XX/XX/XXXX no points were assessed on my account so I called XXXX and they said I had to call Citibank XXXX XXXX I called them and a hard to understand foreign person did not make any sense to me so I asked for a manager who spoke XXXX. The manager said XXXX XXXX used a XXXX to charge my purchase therefore it did not register on their end as a Home Improvement item. They will NOT honor my request. How can a consumer know that???
I am hoping you can help me as this is the SECOND offer from this credit card that they have back peddled on and refused to honor in over 2 years.
Thanks I have all the paperwork to show I did all I should do on my end and hopefully they recorded my XXXX call to verify I asked BEFORE I used the card for that purchase.

Consumer Complaint: In XX/XX/2022, My card was charged at an airline for {$1800.00}, When I found out i called my bank CITI BANK credit card # XXXX very same day ( which was my part of responsibility ) and informed the transaction and a dispute was opened, on the XXXX they denied my claim saying the address matched on the profile but when bank secured information from that airline it had passengers that i don't even recognize at all.Just on that basis they denied than i called and explained them again, i left that place 1 month ago and i haven't been on that address and somebody got hold of my mail or something, they sent another denial on XXXX of XXXX, saying the same reason. i don't know those individuals who bought the ticket, bank neva carried their verification by sending a text message because i never shop these huge amounts. i am a XXXX student and i would really appreciate any help on this XXXX XXXX

Consumer Complaint: I have a lawful right to privacy and that right has been violated by Account Name : CITI Account # XXXX Account Name : XXXX XXXX # XXXX Account Name : XXXX XXXX # XXXX They have violated 15 U.S. Code 1681 Section 602 of the Fair Credit Reporting Act which states : 15 U.S. Code 1681 Section 602- Congressional findings and statement of purpose ( a ) Accuracy and fairness of credit reporting The Congress makes the following findings : ( 4 ) There is a need to ensure that consumer reporting agencies exercise their grave responsibilities with fairness, impartiality, and a respect for the consumers right to privacy. A consumer reporting agency may Not furnish my consumer report without written instruction from me under 15 U.S. Code 1681b Section 604 which states : 15 U.S. Code 1681b Section 604- Permissible purposes of consumer reports ( a ) In general Subject to subsection ( c ), any consumer reporting agency may furnish a consumer report under the following circumstances and no other : ( 2 ) In accordance with the written instructions of the consumer to whom it relates. I HAVE NOT PROVIDED WRITTEN INSTRUCTION TO : Account Name : CITI Account # XXXX Account Name : XXXX XXXX # XXXX Account Name : XXXX XXXX # XXXX TO FURNISH MY CONSUMER REPORT. THIS VIOLATES 15 U.S. Code 1681b. They are also in violation of 15 U.S. Code 6802 which reads : 15 U.S. Code 6802 - Obligations with respect to disclosures of personal information ( a ) Notice requirements Except as otherwise provided in this subchapter, a financial institution may not, directly or through any affiliate, disclose to a nonaffiliated third party any nonpublic personal information, unless such financial institution provides or has provided to the consumer a notice that complies with section 6803 of this title. ( b ) Opt out ( 1 ) In general A financial institution may not disclose nonpublic personal information to a nonaffiliated third party unless ( B ) the consumer is given the opportunity, before the time that such information is initially disclosed, to direct that such information not be disclosed to such third party Please see the attached documents that reflect attempts made in order to protect my privacy. These violations have caused a tremendous amount of stress for me, on my family, and household all together. 15 U.S. Code 1681c Section 605 states that there are requirements relating to information contained in my consumer report and reads : 15 U.S. Code 1681c Section 605- Requirements relating to information contained in consumer reports ( a ) Information excluded from consumer reports Except as authorized under subsection ( b ), no consumer reporting agency may make any consumer report containing any of the following items of information ( 5 ) Any other adverse item of information, other than records of convictions of crimes which antedates the report by more than seven years. I have committed no crimes so again, my rights continue to be violated here with these accounts being contained in my consumer reports.
