Consumer Complaint: Citibank-I have several cards with this bank-Recently they have attached with my invoice that they are increasing my current interest rates ( old customer ) from XXXX percent to XXXX a XXXX percent increase which I feel is excessive-They claim they do credit reviews and that is the reason-Totally bogus reason! was based on this. # 1 I have an excellent credit report-Credit score is XXXX and I only use XXXX percent of my total available credit.Never late so exactly what kind of client are thy looking for if not a good one.My other cards with the same bank have also increased but different amounts all together.If it were about the prime rate plus why is the same bank charges different rates on different cards? My answer to this is that because I pay my balances in full they are penalizing me because I don't give them any interest money. These banks are preying on people with balances and using the market as an excuse to get additional monies. Really shameful. Comes XXXX when these increases become effective they are about to loose a XXXX + year client.

Consumer Complaint: I opened my onine checking and savings account with Citi Bank on XX/XX/XXXX. 14 days later on XXXX ( XX/XX/XXXX ) my card stopped working. I called Citi and was transferred to the Fraud department. Turns out a {$50.00} XXXX charge caused my card to be frozen for suspected fraud. They asked me to verify my identity through my mobile number only to tell me that since my number isn't tied to my credit profile I couldn't verify myself that way. I ended up using my grandmothers phone # to verify myself because I co-signed a loan for her at the end of XXXX. Although that number is not registered to me, I was able to use it to " verify '' my identity. On XXXX, I was forced to drive over an hour away to get access to her phone to complete this process. After 5 calls into the Fraud Dept, I was able to finally get my debit card reactivated. This was strike 1. 4 days later on XX/XX/XXXX, I went to USPS to get a {$1200.00} money order to pay my rent. The transaction went through fine. Later in that same day, I was trying to get my son breakfast and my card declined again. Well this time Citi took it a step further by completely blocking my checking and savings account. I have XXXX access to these accounts. Leaving me with literally NO MONEY for basic human necessities such as food, gas, bills, etc. I have called over 15 times from XX/XX/XXXX - XX/XX/XXXX and I am being told that because they can't verify my identify via phone that I must wait to receive a letter via USPS that verifies my identify. The crazy part about all of this, is that I just used my grandmothers number to verify myself on XX/XX/XXXX but now that number is no longer eligible for identify verification. This has been the worst experience I've had with a bank in my 30 years of living. I've escalated to multiple POCs @ Citi Bank with no resolution. This has to be illegal or at the very least unethical. With Citi being my only bank where all my money is stored, they have literally tied my hands. Now, I'm waiting 7-10 business days to receive a letter via USPS with an authorization code that validates who I am. I have offered to DRIVE from TN to MO to visit a branch to show my passport, SS card, DL, etc. and was told that the ONLY course of action is to wait for the letter via USPS. This is insane and this " verification '' process is a true disservice to all customers.

Consumer Complaint: This Complaint is against Citibank regarding my credit card account that I have had since XXXX. After 32 years, Citibank issued be a letter informing me they are not reissuing my card upon its expiration in XX/XX/XXXX. Citibank has stated it is due to " a bankruptcy or charge-off on another credit card issued by Citi. XXXX A similar action was taken regarding my Costco credit card for which I will also be filing a Complaint. Citibank representatives indicated to me they have no authority to change this decision. I also have a Citibank Citi Advantage Credit Card about which I can presume a similar action will be taken. I have never been late or missed a payment on my credit cards- the longest of which is the subject of this Complaint for 32 years. I also have no history of bankruptcy. Citibank claims it " charged-off '' a Home Depot Credit card in the amount of {$13.00} which I had no knowledge of. I currently have a Home Depot credit card and currently use that card. Apparently, a second card was opened at a Home Depot check-out register to which I had no knowledge of, and which I never used. Citibank continually charged minimum service/interest fees and eventually " charged-off '' an account that had a balance of {$13.00} and again, no charges of mine, as I never used this card. Citibank 's recent action of which I was notified on XX/XX/XXXX, is unreasonable and places my credit status and credit report in jeopardy, and moreover, its decision, which seems to be based on computer methodology, is prejudicial and disparately affects long-standing customers like myself with an outstanding Citibank record XXXX with a history of on-time payments and loyalty.

Consumer Complaint: I applied for the Citi Simplicity card. I got a denial because of too many credit inquires, three to be exact. I tried to call to speak with someone at four different phone numbers and could not even get a representative to speak with. One of the inquiries was a recently open card that I would be closing and transferring the balance to the Citi card. If a bank is going to deny you only on three inquiries there should be some one to talk to about the denial

Consumer Complaint: Good morning, This year has been a very rough year to say the least. My wife and I were considering a XXXX but decided to XXXX XXXX XXXXXXXX and save our family. Here is what happened : In XXXX, I prepaid a lawyer XXXX XXXX dollars to represent me in a case that never happened. I fired the attorney and requested a refund since our case was a wash and the law firm basically did no work for me whatsoever. The law firm refused to refund me, pointed out to me that they had ONLY used around XXXX or XXXX of my retainer, but instead of returning the unused amount to me in its entirety, they only wanted to give me half. I disputed the charge with my CC company, sent them ALL OF THE DETAILS from point A to point Z and they sided with the merchant. I will fight until I have no fight left to stand up for what is right, ethical and moral. This law firm and cc company ( citi ) are taking away my family 's XXXX by trying to rob me of XXXX XXXX dollars. I need help, please help me! I have all of the documentation necessary to prove that the law firm owes me at minimum {$1200.00} dollars, but they are only willing to give me half of that. Which is wrong, illegal, and inhumane.

Consumer Complaint: I am a Citibank , N.A . credit card holder of a Costco Anywhere XXXX. I have disputed a charge on my Citibank N.A. account for an XXXX purchase that I returned, which was eligible for full credit upon return. I have provided Citibank N.A. proof of the return authorization, tracking number, and proof of delivery of the return to the XXXX XXXX. Citibank failed to investigate the disputed charge or consider any evidence that I provided of the return, accepted an automated rebuttal from XXXX that failed to address the reason for the dispute, and denied the dispute with an automated message to my account. Citibank N.A. 's dispute investigation practices consist of an automated message to XXXX, acceptance of any automated rebuttal from XXXX, resulting in automated denials of disputes without any investigation whatsoever. This is in violation of their cardholder agreement in that they have failed to provide the consumer protection and recourse that their cardholder agreement promises their customers/cardholders. Relevant facts : When I disputed the problem charge with Citibank , N.A . I stated that the reason for the dispute was because the merchandise was validly returned. At no time did Citibank allow me to provide them any information about the purchase or return, or provide them with the proof of return. Citibank N.A. received a dispute rebuttal from XXXX which merely stated that the merchandise was delivered and does not address XXXX 's failure to process the return, nor reason given for the dispute. Citibank N.A. received this automated response from XXXX and immediately denied and closed my dispute. Citibank , N.A . 's cardholder agreement requires them to investigate a dispute. In this case, they did not. They received automated messages from XXXX that do not address the issue, did not review the information received, and proceeded to deny and close the dispute. Because the dispute was denied I am no longer able to address the dispute on the Citibank N.A. website or mobile application. This lack of ability or willingness of Citibank N.A. to process or investigate disputes is in violation of the Citibank N.A. Costco Anywhere XXXX cardholder agreement that I entered into and pay significant cardholder fees and interest toward. I would like CFPB to investigate Citibank N.A. 's dispute investigation practices, as it is clear that automation of the process results is automatic denials of almost every dispute processed, resulting in Citbank N.A. 's violation of their cardholder agreement in almost every case, and costing their customers/cardholders untold amounts of money in denied dispute charges. Account number of my Citibank N.A. Costco Anywhere XXXX card : XXXX. Name on Account : XXXX XXXX XXXX Charge that was disputed : XX/XX/22 XXXX charge in the amount of {$210.00} Reason identified in dispute for the dispute : merchandise was returned I have appealed the dispute denial by emailing all of my evidence of returned merchandise and eligibility for refund to : XXXX I have not received any communication from Citibank N.A. regarding this appeal. I have attempted to resolve the issue with XXXX, but have been unsuccessful, thus this dispute with Citibank N.A. is at this time my only recourse for disputing this charge.

Consumer Complaint: In XX/XX/2022 in response to a Citi direct mail ad, I opened up a new Checking Account with Citi and deposited {$200000.00} cash. The direct mail ad stated I would receive {$1500.00} if I left the money there for 3 months. 8 months later and numerous calls later ( many with " a case will be opened and someone will get back to you '' I have received no follow-ups from Citi and a grand total interest of {$10.00}.
