Issue: Getting a credit card
Subissue: Card opened as result of identity theft or fraud
Consumer Complaint: Hi, I recently found out that there was a credit card opened on my Capital Onen account without my knowledge a few years ago and I have contacted the company twice about it and both times they have said I'm the one who opened it, when I wasn't. The total is close to {$600.00}! and I honestly don't know what happened. I could really use your help because this has been reported to my credit companies and is impacting my score greatly. Thank you

Consumer Complaint: Last fall, I opened a Savings Account with Capital One, and on XX/XX/XXXX I deposited {$100000.00} of new money. I made an additional deposit on XX/XX/XXXX. On XX/XX/XXXX, I withdrew the {$100000.00}. Under the terms of their fall bonus promotion, I should be eligible for the 1 % on the {$100000.00}. They claim I withdrew the money too early. The term Initial Funding Period is not clearly defined as being a condition of the fall bonus but simply that the deposit has to be within that Period. The Deposit Amount was clearly maintained for 90 days : {$1000.00} bonus The new money deposited from an external bank during the Initial Funding Period was more than {$100000.00}, and you maintained that Deposit Amount for 90 daysXXXX XXXX XXXX XXXXXXXX I kindly ask your assistance with this issue. Issue: Fees or interest
Subissue: Charged too much interest
Consumer Complaint: Capital One Credit Card decided to charge me an extreme interest charge with no explanation or reasoning on XX/XX/XXXX. I have been with this company for over 2 years and this is the first time they have done this to me. On XXXX, they contacted me because I had gone over my credit limit by like {$20.00} but they paid it and in the message they stated that, they do not charge for going over the limit. On XX/XX/XXXX I went to make a {$300.00} payment and realized that Capital One had charged me an interest charge in the amount of {$160.00}. I contacted their customer service department to see why there was this huge fee on my account and they proceeded to tell me that sometime these charges are because you are late with payments. I explained to the rep that in the whole time I have had the card, I have never been late. Then he explained that these fees are sometime because all you pay is the minimum fees. I explained to the rep that I often exceed minimum amount over 100 % in just about all of my payments. Then he told me that it was because of the type of credit card I have. So I asked him to explain how that works when this is the first time Im hearing about this. Again, he explained that this is an example he was given so really unable to explain why after being with his company for years I was suddenly targeted and being charged extreme amount of fees. I asked him if I cancelled the account, will they still keep charging me these fees to which he stated Capital one will continue charging me this interest charge no matter what I do. I think this is unfair as it seems to be targeting people who dont make a lot of money so they can keep me in debt and downside. They have been asking me to send them proof of my paycheck so they can decide whether to give me more money. I refused to provide that more information as I did not want additional available funds on my card as I just wanted to focus on paying my card off. Last week I inquired about transferring my balance to a couple of companies including Capital One and I guess they used that information to penalize me a week later because they now had my paycheck amount. Which I know is an unfair practice according to the law. According to the CARD Act of 2009 called for fees imposed upon consumers to be reasonable and proportional. It placed limits on late fees and changed how credit card companies can charge for over-limit fees. An almost {$200.00} fee is unfair and should be illegal. I am requesting your help in stopping Capital One in this unfair act of penalizing me.

Issue: Problems at the end of the loan or lease
Subissue: Problem with paying off the loan
Consumer Complaint: I filed for XXXX XXXX Bankruptcy in XXXX of XXXX and included my car loan I received through Capital One Auto Financing. The Bankruptcy Case Number for the state of Louisiana is 20-10445. The amount of the car loan at the time of filing was {$17000.00} ( {$17000.00} secured, and {$630.00} unsecured ). I paid the full {$17000.00} of the secured portion of the debt and I'd only paid {$110.00} of the {$630.00} balance before the case was dismissed at the beginning of XXXX due to non-payment. I lost my job in XXXX of XXXX and was not able to make the final payment of {$520.00} towards the unsecured portion of the car loan debt. I received a letter in the mail from Capital One stating I owed {$1600.00} towards the loan. I've attempted to call several times to resolve this issue. I spoke with XXXX, ID # CWI twice, once on XX/XX/XXXX and again on XX/XX/XXXX. During the conversation on XX/XX/XXXX, I informed XXXX that the amount they stated I owed was incorrect and that I could submit court documentation showing the correct amount owed on the vehicle. She said she would notate the account and forward my dispute to management and for me to call back on XX/XX/XXXX. I called back on the date requested ( which is today, as of the writing of this complaint ). XXXX appeared to have trouble finding the notated documentation and then explained that the amount of {$1600.00} but did not attempt to provide me with instructions to upload my documents to prove the correct amount. She said I couldn't speak to someone in management but that she would escalate my dispute to the resolution department. I refused the request to transfer me b/c at this time, I feel like I'm getting the run-around and that this company is making it difficult for me to resolve this issue so that I can receive the title for my vehicle. I am now working and fully prepared to pay the remaining balance of {$520.00} as owed but I refuse to pay a company {$1600.00} with no other documentation other than a letter that states it. I'm also feeling cautious because the representative I spoke to was reluctant to provide me instructions of how to properly file a dispute online and upload my court documentation to show the correct amount I owe. I honestly just want to resolve this matter as quickly as possible and obtain my car 's title. Please assist with helping me get this matter resolved. Thank you. Subissue: Problem with rewards from credit card
Consumer Complaint: Capital One Venture X charges an annual fee of {$390.00} that can be offset annually with the {$300.00} Annual Travel Credit ( Receive up to {$300.00} back as statement credits for bookings through Capital One Travel, where youll get our best prices on thousands of options. ) and a {$100.00} Anniversary Bonus ( Get 10,000 bonus miles ( equal to {$100.00} towards travel ) every year, starting on your first anniversary. ) Capital One advertises You can use your travel rewards credit card to book any airline, anytime, anywhere with no seat restrictions or blackout dates ; however, does not offer and restricts flight options within Capital One travel. On XX/XX/2023, I attempted to book an airline flight through Capital One Travel ( American Airlines ). After discussing with a Capital One Travel agent on the phone, the flight options originally selected were no longer available ; however, reviewing XXXX XXXX website all flights on the trip were only half full. I proceeded to purchase the trip through XXXX XXXX instead of Capital One Travel on my Capital One Venture X Card ( You can confirm flight and seat availability through flight numbers and tickets purchased through Capital One Statement ). As this is the only trip that we will take this year, I expressed my concern with Capital One agents that I have paid an annual fee ; however, will not be able to offset the annual membership of {$390.00} because Capital One Travel restricted their airline options. I further expressed a concern that this is an Unfair and Deceptive Practice per their website advertisement and marketing materials. I requested to have my annual fee refunded of {$390.00} dollars ; however, was only offered a {$100.00} good will credit. Note, as of XX/XX/2023, the good will credit has still not been posted on my account.

Consumer Complaint: XXXX XXXX last 4 SSN XXXX Adress : XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX Michigan,XXXX Dear Customer Relations : This letter is in reference to a late payment with the account I have with your company Last year due to extreme financial hardship and medical problems, I became seriously behind on several of my bills. While I normally make great effort to honor my debts and fulfill my responsibilities, at the time of the late payments I was simply financially not able to pay my bills I have since gotten back on my feet and brought my account up to date with your company. 1 am now trying to buy a home, however I am having difficulties receiving an affordable rate due to the impact of having a late payment on my credit file. I am hoping that your organization will consider removing this late payment from my credit report as a gesture of goodwill. This kind gesture would sincerely be appreciated and an invaluable gift to my family and I. Sincerely, XXXX XXXX

Issue: Incorrect information on your report
Subissue: Account status incorrect
Consumer Complaint: CFPB NOTE-This is not a duplicate complaint. The issue was not addressed with first or second complaint and is NOT frivolous. This is serious complaint that has not been addressed by lender. Do not delete this request please. Please send to Capital One Auto to address this issue. Thank you. I am disputing again, the late pay Cap One Auto is placing on my auto loan. I disputed once and they did not remove, but I wanted to provide additional information to request Cap One to remove this late payment. I do not agree with their decision. Showing the inaccurate late payment has lowered my credit score and is keeping me from purchasing a home loan due to recent late on major account. In 2022, I was dealing with the death of my father, and had my car totaled toward the end of the year. I worked diligently with Cap One during this time to make my payments until the insurance paid off. Once the payoff was issued to the insurance company, I was told to not make a payment until the payoff was received. I had to wait for the final amount once the payoff was posted. Technically, I was paid ahead on the loan, and certainly not late. Once the payoff was made, I then called Cap One Auto and was told the balance was left was just over {$100.00} to pay off the remaining balance. I was told I needed to have the money into the company by XXXX to pay off the loan. I met this requirement and paid the loan off by XXXX PST. I was not told until I disputed the late with Capital One, that I needed to make it by XXXX EST. This is ridiculous they can not correct this late, as it truly is not a late payment since I was paid ahead of the payments needed, but it was the final very small balance left due. It was not an intentional missed payment and does not reflect how I handle my debts. I will take this to state attorney generals office and any other attorney or consumer help to get this unwarranted late payment off my credit report. If Cap One Auto TRULY feels their stating me as LATE ON A PAYMENT reflects how I paid my bill to them, I request the proof from them to support the showing of this late payment. I request a copy of the conversation logs on my account and payment history. This was not a late payment due to inability to repay or ignoring this debt!
