Issue: Problem when making payments
Subissue: Problem during payment process
Consumer Complaint: Good day! I recently made a payment to my capital one account with the exact bank account that I have always used. I needed to make the payment quickly because I had just received a notification that I went over my balance due to an interest charge. After making the payment, a day later, I received notification that the payment was returned due to inaccurate bank account information. Heres my concern, how on earth did my bank account number change without my permission? I should have received some form of a notification saying that a new bank account was added. Ive contacted both of my capital one accounts to talk to them about the matter and they insist that I added the account. Why would I add a bogus bank account to make a {$50.00} payment? Ive always made my payments with this same account for the past year. I really need this investigated, because they can not tell me when the account was added, or nothing about the account. However, they are insisting that I added the account. I would like for them to take accountability if they errored. This has cause my credit score to drop drastically and I am afraid to do any further business with them. I am not trying to get out of paying what is rightfully due. However, if a bank account is added to my account without my knowledge, they should be able to tell me something about the account. Capital One should trust me enough when I tell them, I did not add this bogus account to my profile. I simply want them to investigate and find out. How did this account number change on my profile?

Consumer Complaint: While I deeply appreciate the services and credit extended to me by financial institutions, I find myself perplexed at the inability to secure credit limit increases on my accounts. Notably, all of my accounts are in good standing, with a consistent history of on-time payments. Additionally, I have recently experienced a significant increase in my monthly income, which bolsters my financial stability and capability to manage credit responsibly. Given these positive factors, I am keen to understand the criteria or concerns preventing the approval of credit increases. I believe that a reconsideration based on my improved financial position and impeccable credit management would be both fair and beneficial for both parties.

Consumer Complaint: The account in question was fully settled in 2020 with the understanding that it would be removed post-payment. Furthermore, the account 's charge-off was a result of financial challenges during the COVID-19 pandemic. According to the CARES Act, I am entitled to protection, and this account should not be appearing on my credit report. It is also important to note that the information being furnished is inconsistent between the 3 bureaus which is a violation of the FCRA and I can take legal action due to any hindrance your inaccurate reporting has caused me. I kindly request the removal or an update to " paid as agreed, never late '' for the following account : Capital One XXXX

Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/2023 my payment was posted to my Capital One credit card account. On XX/XX/2023 I received a notification via text message from Capital One that the payment was posted. I did not think they payment did not go thru. On XX/XX/XXXX I received another text message that my balance was of {$2200.00} because of this I contacted Capital One as I was under the impression that my credit card was compromised. I found out the payment posted XX/XX/XXXX had been returned, the account did not notify me of this. I contacted Capital One and they stated they do not provide any special notification if account payments are not posted, why would I receive a text message for a transaction that did not occur. They charge accounts for interest for the following XXXX cycles. If they think to charge an account for this long then they should also look at notifying their customers.

Consumer Complaint: I've been trying to dispute a charge off from capital one now for around 4 months. I've asked numerous times for validation of debt and besides the answer on the remarks from credit bureau have yet to see any physical evidence of this debt. They're saying it's mine because of recorded phone calls and that it was opened at my address of XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX PA XXXX. Yet there is an address on my credit report XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX PA XXXX in which I never lived however I can not get it removed from my credit reports because the bureau is saying it's attached to this capital one inquiry and debt! They've yet to send me any proof and have not once ceased communication while in dispute! They email me excessively even though they are aware I am in dispute and won't pay debt that isn't my doing. I also had the XXXX XXXX XXXX address removed from atleast XXXX of the buried further proving the address this account is attached to was never lived in by me but someone who fraudulently represented me and opened this account. Furthermore this account was frozen for fraudulent activity and my bank said they received calls trying to validate a bad payment made and were told it did not come from MY BANK ACCOUNT!!! I WANT A THIS CHARGE OFF REMOVED IMMEDIATELY! I've spent months now fighting to get my life and credit back and for some reason capital one is only creditor not willing to see the truth that I was a victim. I've removed every other negative remark but this! Screenshots attached show the daily emails sent when during times I'm disputing and with no clear way to cease this which is another violation of law. Please remove this account at once! My ex-wife was also contacted by a lawyer saying they're suing us for this debt but haven't heard from them myself and still get contacted daily from capital one.
