Consumer Complaint: I have an e gift card for Amex and can not use this for anything. It was sent to me via email, so I dont have an actual card. I had won a picture contest from XXXX over a year and a half ago XX/XX/2022 and the funds were sent to me in the form of This e gift card. I can not use it in the stores, as its a piece of paper. I have tried to use it online XXXX and it gets declined. When I called Amex they just tell me to use it at stores. I have gone to my local grocery store with the paper and they said they cant enter it, and I went to XXXX and the same scenario. Ive had to pay taxes on this money, so I dont think its fair that I can not use it.

Consumer Complaint: Dear American Express, I hope that one of the representatives can call me to look deeper into the dispute that I have with XXXXXXXX XXXX The dispute number is : XXXX To sum it up, the dispute was rejected for 2 main reasons 1 ) The merchant agreed to take in the vehicle to fix it and 2 ) I signed on the sales agreement The truth is, the merchant blocked me after I sent them an inspection report from XXXX XXXXXXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX ) that the car is still broken. They blocked my number and is unwilling to fix the vehicle. In addition, I never signed a sales agreement. If you take a look at the photo that the merchant provided on the receipt, the Merchant signed my name on the receipt without my knowledge. I have attached all the evidence in the CFPB report, please call me if you need additional information. In the CFPB report in XXXX, I received a resolution that someone tried to call me to collect information. However, I never received those calls. Please text and call me at XXXX.

Consumer Complaint: My application was submitted by American Express on XX/XX/XXXX. Since I gave you an asset backed security, and because it was already submitted electronically per 15 U.S. Code 7001 and applications can be transferred to 3rd parties per 12 U.S. Code 1832, I can not be denied. As you may be aware, it is against federal law in accordance with Title 15 Ch. 41 of the United States Code to threaten and discriminate against a consumer including adverse actions. Pursuant to 15 U.S. Code 1691 ( c ) you assume civil liability pursuant to 15 U.S. Code 1691 ( e ). American Express, XXXX, XXXX, and XXXX has violated my federally protected consumer rights such as : 5 U.S. Code 552a 15 U.S. Code 45 12 CFR 1002 Furthermore, Since the application sent to me dated XX/XX/XXXXXXXX at is both proof and evidence of the use of my securities, they are criminally liable. Following this attempt to rectify, I filed complaints with the SEC. Amex should resort to reasonable procedures to amend this affair and compensate me for the use of my securities. Otherwise, this would be considered securities fraud since I have received NO BENEFIT. I have began my civil money penalties 12 CFR 215.11 as I have initially sent out notices on XX/XX/XXXX. According to the Fair Credit Reporting Act 15 USC 1681 section 602 a states " There is a need to insure that consumer reporting agencies exercise their grave responsibilities with fairness, impartiality, and a respect for the consumers right to privacy. '' XXXX and XXXX are consumer reporting agencies and I am the Consumer. I have the right to make sure my private information isn't shared which is backed by 15 USC 6801 which states '' It is the policy of the Congress that each financial institution has an affirmative and continuing obligation to respect the privacy of its customers and to protect the security and confidentiality of those customers nonpublic personal information. '' American Express is a financial institution by definition under that title. 15 USC 1681 section 604 a section 2 states that " In general Subject to subsection ( c ), any consumer reporting agency may furnish a consumer report under the following circumstances and no other : in accordance with the written instructions of the consumer to whom it relates. '' American Express and the Consumer reporting agencies XXXX and XXXX do not have my consent to furnish this information and they surely do not have my written consent. Any and all consent to XXXX, XXXX, American Express whether it be verbal, non-verbal, written, implied or otherwise is revoked. 15 USC 6802 ( b ) ( c ) states that " A financial institution may not disclose nonpublic personal information to a nonaffiliated third party unless the consumer is given an explanation of how the consumer can exercise that nondisclosure option. '' XXXX, XXXX, American Express Never informed me of my right to exercise my nondisclosure option. Not only that 15 USC 1681C ( a ) ( 5 ) states '' Except as authorized under subsection ( b ), no consumer reporting agency may make any consumer report containing any of the following items of information Any other adverse item of information, other than records of convictions of crimes which antedates the report by more than seven years. '' This account is an adverse item they are reporting again without my permission which is against the law. 15 U.S. Code 1681s2 ( A ) ( 1 ) A states " A person shall not furnish any information relating to a consumer to any consumer reporting agency if the person knows or has reasonable cause to believe that the information is inaccurate. 15 U.S. Code 1681e states " Every consumer reporting agency shall maintain reasonable procedures designed to avoid violations of section 1681c of this title and to limit the furnishing of consumer reports to the purposes listed under section 1681b of this title. XXXX and XXXX, American Express are not maintaining reasonable procedures. Also 12 CFR 1016.7 states that " A consumer may exercise the right to opt out at any time. '' I am opting out of your reporting services.

Consumer Complaint: I had CFPB reach out to American express on my behalf to resolve this issue ( See case number XXXX ) but it was not resolved. I Have never agreed to do business with American express personally and I have Never agreed to personally guarantee any loans for anyone or any company. American express provided me with a copy of a contract through the CFPB platform and after reviewing it, I can see that the contract is with XXXX XXXX XXXX New York XXXX and not with me personally. They have not provided a signature of mine by any means. I can see at the bottom of the contract, there are lines where my name is preprinted to sign, however those lines bares the signature of XXXX XXXX XXXX New York XXXX. I never agreed to guarantee any loans. The XXXX XXXXXXXX approving the contract which shows on the left at the bottom of the contract, bares the responsibilities of inspecting this and making corrections before issuing any funds to the company. The fact that this was not done, can not force the responsibilities on to me. Based on this, I request this account be removed from my credit report immediately. If I have to hire a consumer lawyer and litigate this, I will do so and XXXX for a lot of damages. I have been saving all of my credit denials which are caused by this reporting. I hope this can be resolved immediately! I have attached the contract Amex produced and their response for your review.

Consumer Complaint: I accidentally made an electronic payment from my XXXX checking account of {$750.00} to defunct payee credit card ( Amex XXXX Products on XX/XX/XXXX ). The money was transferred out of my account on XX/XX/XXXX, clearly accepted by some company instead of having the payment rejected due to the inactive account status. I called XXXX to have them dispute the charge, but their representative said as I authorized the electronic payment and it was already made she could not cancel or dispute the charge. I have been trying to get this resolved with AMEX and XXXX XXXX XXXX XX/XX/XXXX. After months of AMEX insisting it was a XXXX XXXX credit card account, XXXX XXXX opened a new case for me ( case # XXXX ) and said they would call or email me within 4 days to help me resolve this. They then promptly sent me a letter saying the claim was invalid because it is not a XXXX XXXX account. Around XXXX XXXX I finally got a second ( higher ) level Jet Blue representative XXXX the phone who got permission to call and get a second level AMEX representative XXXX the call, during which it was agreed that this was an AMEX, not Jet Blue, credit card account and the AMEX representative XXXX to open an investigation and get back to me in a few days. After a few days I called AMEX again and the ( new ) representative explained it XXXX take XXXX weeks. I called after XXXX weeks after which an AMEX representative said this might take months because it is no longer an active account ( or type of credit card ) and they were not sure what company manages those defunct accounts anymore. Ive tried periodically ( mostly monthly ) to call AMEX to see what the resolution is, and a few months ago ( Sept/Oct XXXX ) I got a representative called XXXX who XXXX did call me weekly for a few weeks to say there was still no resolution but that he would follow up. After a few weeks, I no longer received any calls from AMEX. I even finally emailed XXXX XXXX. I called AMEX again Wednesday, XX/XX/XXXX and got a representative who basically refused to connect me to a higher level representative and who said she is sorry but there is nothing they can do about the case. That is when I realized this is fraudulent retention of funds paid to AMEX and XXXX of reporting the situation to the FBI in the hopes of getting my money back. I have a stamped proof of payment from XXXX identifying the date, payee, account number, transfer number, amount, etc. I also have my Chase account information that I can print to pdf that shows the {$750.00} payment was made and not returned or credited to my active account AMEX credit card. My lawyer has suggested, in addition to filing the complaint with the FBI, that I write AMEX customer service, the Better Business Bureau and contact the police. As this is a case of fraud, I am unsure the police can help. The FBI website advised me to submit the complaint to consumerfinance.gov/ Thank you for looking into the matter, advising me, and hopefully obtaining the refund to me.

You can disagree with my belief I was misled, but being ignored is a greater disservice to a loyal customer. As a card holder starting out in the business world holder and as a business owner and president of a legal recruiting company. In fact, over the course of my career I have placed lawyers at American express. I was a gold card holder for many years but as my needs changed I became a green card holder. Most recently, I paid for a cruise on the XXXX line on XXXX XXXX in the amount of {$7500.00}. Prior to making the payment I called Amex because I was concerned about travel interruption insurance and the agent assured me that it was in place. I also believe these calls are recorded so there should be proof the event exists. To make a long story short I contacted covid and had to cancel my trip. Believing I was covered, I got the appropriate documentation from my physician to forward to Amex. To my utter surprise I was informed I wasn't covered. As a business person I have survived by being very cautious about details, and given all the possibilities in the current world environment I never would have left myself exposed. Needless to say, this experience has been very disappointing, and I plan to cancel my card after this. XXXX XXXX

Consumer Complaint: My account was wrongfully closed in XXXX after AMEX misapplied a payment to the paid-over-time balance rather than the intended payment for the statement period. On XXXX XX/XX/XXXX AMEX offered to have the platinum account reinstated once the balance was reduced to zero ( XXXX ). Quoting AMEX XXXX XX/XX/XXXX response to XXXX, " we explained that we spoke to you on XX/XX/XXXX and offered a guaranteed reinstatement of your XXXX XXXX ending in XXXX with a limit of $ [ x, xxx.xx ] once the balance on your accounts are brought to {$0.00}. '' On XXXX XX/XX/XXXX XXXX XXXX provided the AMEX response to CFPB complaint XXXX & XXXX, in part writing " Our prior response to your previous complaint filed with the CFPB, reference number XXXX, advised that we authorized the prior agency handling your account to offer on opportunity to regain Card Membership by applying for the XXXX Card after your balance was paid in full. It is important to know, this offer did not involve reinstatement of the specific account as referenced in your correspondence [ platinum card ]. '' AMEX engaged in a bait-and-switch as the market conditions changed. As The economic environment changed during the pandemic AMEX began targeting individuals and engaging in acts or practices that would reduce their overall risk exposure by any means necessary. That is, AMEX has engaged in unlawful, unfair, deceptive, and abusive acts and practices that targeted me as a consumer after I'd disclosed my afflictions with XXXX, and XXXX They engaged in these practices with my account, withholding statements, forcing payment through alternative websites, until they were able to find a mechanism to allegedly charge-off the account on XXXX XX/XX/XXXX. And, since that time they have continuously reported false/misleading/inaccurate/incomplete information for the account to the CRAs which continues to affect me as a consumer in XXXX. In nearly XXXX ( XXXX ) years they have created payment history on the account that does not exist, and supplied a Date of First Delinquency that is causally impossible because the reported DoFD is reported as a date in XX/XX/XXXX and/or XX/XX/XXXX and/or XX/XX/XXXX. The DoFD itself must PRECEDE a C/O. AMEX handling of my account has been bizarre and shows a pattern of acts or practices that are explicitly forbidden under law.

Consumer Complaint: I received an AMEX gift card from my employer and have tried to use it online at several different retailers. The card keeps getting declined. My balance ( {$1000.00} ) is well over the amount I am attempting to charge ( {$300.00} ) and I am receiving error messages when I try to add to my XXXX account. This card is such a headache and not accepted at major retailers like XXXX, XXXX, XXXX, XXXX XXXX, etc. Would never recommend this prepaid card option to anyone.

Consumer Complaint: I applied for the AMEX gold card application # XXXX They've admitted that they are violating the ECOA XXXX I have spoken to them over the phone but they said there's no way they can overturn the decision because it's automated ... that's a lie. According to the ECOA, everyone should be equally treated in terms of credit. They have also violated the following : 15 U.S.C. 1691c, 12 C.F.R. Part 1002 Regulation B, Title 15 U.S.C. 1602 ( p ), Title 15 U.S.C. 1644 ( f ), and Title 15 U.S.C. 1611. I made an application in good faith however I didn't get anything in return made & credit was not issued. Therefore, American Express is out of compliance with 15 U.S.C. 1642, U.S.C. 1681m and 12 C.F.R. 1002 Furthermore, because the social security number ( credit card ) was used in an application process, thus generating a promissory note, of which the principal has not received any benefit thereof, this constitutes fraudulent activity ( unauthorized use of credit card ) on behalf of American Express. The denial has caused injury and damages to myself, XXXX XXXX the consumer pursuant to 15 U.S.C. 1681n and 15 U.S.C. 1681o. This denial constitutes discrimination. 26 CFR 301.7701-11 as security is defined within the meaning of this regulation in reference to the social security number as ... or warrant or right to subscribe to or purchase, any of the foregoing ; negotiable instrument ; or money. - ( Source : 26 CFR 301.6323 ( h ) -1 ). I have also filed a FTC report due to identity theft on my credit report which is affecting things here. The credit bureaus are taking forever to get this situated... I've also NEVER given lexis nexis consent to obtain my personal information nor to allow them to disclose my personal information to XXXX party companies
