Issue: Dealing with your lender or servicer

Subissue: Trouble with how payments are being handled

Consumer Complaint: Original loan disbursement date was XX/XX/XXXX in the amount of {$10000.00} with a repayment term of 121 months. Repayment began on XX/XX/XXXX with a repayment term of 210 months. Since that point in time the loan has been " redisclosed '' against my wishes or request. The loan has been redisclosed on the following dates with the below terms. XX/XX/XXXX Repayment term 239 months XX/XX/XXXX repayment term 210 months XX/XX/XXXX repayment term 197 months XX/XX/XXXX repayment term 185 months XX/XX/XXXX repayment term 174 months XX/XX/XXXX repayment term 165 months XX/XX/XXXX repayment term 153 months XX/XX/XXXX repayment term 143 months XX/XX/XXXX repayment term 131 months XX/XX/XXXX repayment term 121 months As of XX/XX/XXXX statement {$11000.00} has been paid on an original balance of {$10000.00} of which {$7300.00} was interest and {$4200.00} principal. The current outstanding balance is still {$6300.00}. The constant redisclosure of a customer who makes on time payments for more than the minimum balance is resulting in a loan that will essentially never be paid off. The stated interest rate of 6.13 % is deceiving as it only is a interest rate of the current redisclosed loan. When you take in the original balance and what has already been paid plus what is still outstanding the interest rate is over 300 %

Issue: Dealing with your lender or servicer

Subissue: Received bad information about your loan

Consumer Complaint: 1.I re certified income on XX/XX/XXXX 2.I followed all directions on application/submitted extra payment information 3.XXXX stated they needed explanation to state exact income ( I do not have exact income ) 4.I followed the directions from customer service and submitted another letter immediately 5.Customer service then said I needed to create company logo and submit on company logo letterhead. I paid {$99.00} for logo and gave same day 6.Customer service then said letter needs to say " business owner '' and not " sole proprietor '' because it confused them 7. I then received notice my payment was almost {$700.00} even though I am a single mother of 3 and do not make this much XXXX. Customer service stated " sorry, our departments do not talk to each other. please just resubmit '' I did immediately. 9. XXXX added over {$20000.00} to my loan for interest because the resubmitted application I submitted due to their mistake, is not " late '' 10. XXXX stated there was nothing they can do, so they used income from previous year. 11. After no less than 20 hours on the phone, XXXX recalculated my income and payment was now {$130.00}. 12. XXXX stated there was nothing they can do, I have to pay the {$700.00} or add it to my loan balance because " the computers will not let me update from previous month '' 13. I filed complaint. 14. XXXX LIED and told you I never submitted the application XX/XX/XXXX 15. Complaint filed again. 16. XXXX made excuse after excuse as to how this was MY fault now and I needed to pay or they would ruin my credit even though my XXXX was less than XXXX. Excuses included : 1. income submitted was too old ( less than 2 weeks old at time of application and more than required included ) 2. The initial letter was not typed ( nothing on application states this ) 3. The payments were not on set bi monthly schedule XXXX there is no law that states income payments must be set. I explained I was a contractor and was paid when I received work. ) Application does not state this requirement. 4. Updated, late application did not have a " wet '' signature. ( original application turned in XX/XX/XXXX contained a " wet '' signature only changed to typed when XXXX requested it. 17. I send multiple emails and made multiple calls requested for XXXX to point to the section on the application stating any of the requirements they insisted I violated. I requested they how me what I did not included that was listed on the application as needed. THEY COULD NOT SHOW ME. 18. At this point, XXXX became hostile and demanded I pay the {$700.00} now, add it to my loan, or they will ruin my credit. 19. XXXX did take off the $ XXXX they illegally placed on my account, however ruined my almost perfect credit and have now cost me my practice I just opened. I can not obtain the business loan I was seeking due to this fraudulent remark. This was done in retaliation for them being made to take of the XXXX.

Issue: Dealing with your lender or servicer

Subissue: Problem with customer service

Consumer Complaint: I filed a complaint on Monday XX/XX/XXXX, I provided information and minimal documents. It was received and followed up with a false statement from XXXX XXXX. As of today I have new information to provide that will prove my point and complaint! Just got an email from a credit bureau notifying me my credit score just went down 135 points in the last 24 hours because of XXXX XXXX, SO, I called XXXX XXXX and spoke with XXXX ( employee id XXXX ). Guess what? I explained to her everything I have been since calling back in XX/XX/XXXX to report losing my job, the calls I've made, the calls I've received explaining my situation to every time. During that time not one customer service representative offered any solutions, input, etc ... till XX/XX/XXXX. In XX/XX/XXXX I was told to go online and do the IDR/Forbearance form and send it. Well I did! First week of XX/XX/XXXX I spoke to XXXX ( XXXX ) and she notified me it was taken. So AGAIN I explained my situation to her. At that time she told me she would make note on my account, send me out a dispute, AND IDR by mail. Just received it TODAY XX/XX/XXXX when on the letter its dated XX/XX/XXXX. XXXX ( XXXX ) called me a week after and AGAIN I explained my situation to him and told him XXXX made a note in my account. XXXX informed me there was no such thing. Back to today, about an hour ago. I explained my situation to XXXX ( XXXX ) as I have done so many time since XX/XX/XXXX to numerous attempts to resolve, ask for help, etc ... Guess what she just did for me in a matter of minutes over the phone? SHE PUT ME INTO THE INCOME DRIVEN REPAYMENT PLAN, RESOLVED WHAT I'VE BEEN TRYING TO ACCOMPLISH SINCE XX/XX/XXXX ON. Your customer service need to be retrained, come to work AND work! Do their jobs! And be able to do what XXXX did in minutes, This all could of been taken care of long ago if your customer service acted as XXXX did today, I FINALLY got someone who knew what to do, and did it. NOW, I'm not going to stop there. I'm going all the way with this, I refuse to accept my credit score dropping 135 points because your staff doesn't want to do their jobs. I'm the one whos suffered, I'm the one who's tried taking care of this long ago, I'm being responsible in doing everything since day one to handle this. XXXXXXXX XXXX has not! Now I'm stuck with a credit score that's unacceptable to me, my other creditors, and any plans on buying a house in the future, private loans, etc ... XXXX deserves recognition for her work today with me! The rest of the customers service representatives I've dealt with in the past need to be terminated immediately!

Consumer Complaint: XXXX XXXX XXXX ( PHEAA ) unlawfully converted my XXXX Grant to " irreversible '' loan due to a paperwork error on their part in the fall of XX/XX/XXXX. This has been on ongoing issue that began in the summer of XX/XX/XXXX when I tried to submit verification forms for my service agreement. They claimed they did not receive paperwork and also gave me a fax number that did not work after many many attempts. They converted my grant to a loan ( of XXXX including interest ), even though I had completed all of the service requirements they requested and as were outlined in my service agreement.

Issue: Dealing with your lender or servicer

Subissue: Trouble with how payments are being handled

Consumer Complaint: I took out the loan for {$30000.00} ( {$32000.00} after fees, etc. ) in XX/XX/XXXX. Once I started paying back on my loan, they would not work with me on re-payments. The payments would be {$250.00} for the first six months of the year, then would jump to {$300.00} for a few months, then to {$350.00}, then to {$400.00} for the last 2-3 months of the year. Beginning of the next year, they would go back down to {$250.00}. However, due to me not being able to afford the last few months in total monthly payments, I would fall behind on the loan and they refused to work with me. My son was one year old and having serious health issues and they would not take this into consideration. Within a few year span, I had paid {$10000.00} towards this loan and only {$900.00} of my payments went towards principle balance. The rest went towards interest. My total loan also jumped up to {$42000.00} and they could not explain this, they could only tell me it was due to the " late fees and penalties for falling behind on my payments ''. At one point when I fell behind in XX/XX/XXXX-XX/XX/XXXX, I offered to pay {$200.00} but the woman on the phone actually refused to accept this amount, saying they could only accept a minimum of {$500.00}. In XX/XX/XXXX I had to meet with an attorney to file for chapter XXXX bankruptcy, as XXXX was threatening to garnish my wages.

Issue: Struggling to repay your loan

Subissue: Can't get other flexible options for repaying your loan

Consumer Complaint: My original loan with the company was {$32000.00} after I graduated in XX/XX/2009. I have paid {$23000.00} to date on this loan ( {$13000.00} interest and {$9700.00} principal ) but yet my total loan amount still owing is {$30000.00}. A little over a year ago I tried to settled the entire loan for the balance owing - what I had paid to date less the original balance. The servicer immediately refused my request stating the lender does not offer settlements. I have a combined student loan debt of over {$400000.00}, half of which is federal loans and the other private loans. Because I am unable to make full payments ( I only make {$55000.00} a year ), my debt keeps accumulating. I explained this in my request but yet they refused. So, to date, on this loan, I have paid over {$23000.00} on an original loan of {$32000.00} and still owe over {$30000.00}. How is this ethical? I am trying to clear this debt to help with my overall student loan debt. Plus, my mother co-signed on this loan for me so I am trying to at least resolve this debt so she can retire without this lingering over her. I am asking to settle this debt for the balance of the original loan ( {$32000.00} ) - what I have paid to date ( {$23.00}, XXXX ) = {$9200.00}

Consumer Complaint: I have been working with this agency, funded by tax payer dollars, since 2011 when I began paying on my student loans. It has been taxing to say the least. There are several ongoing issues that XXXX is unwilling to solve. These are as follows : Six months ( plus ) wait time for paperwork requests, and account questions Lost paperwork Qualifying payments that were once approved are later revoked No follow up after paperwork submission Although I have been diligently paying on my students loans on time and in the full amount requested, I have been met with alleged discrepancies that after two years and countless phone calls, no one at XXXX is able to rectify for me.
