Issue: Dealing with your lender or servicer

Subissue: Received bad information about your loan

Consumer Complaint: Every year when I re-certify my XXXX XXXX for PSLF with XXXX XXXX, they get the payment count wrong. This year was the same. On XX/XX/XXXX my PSLF XXXX XXXX was re-certified, and they told me I have 60 qualifying payments for one group of loans, and 59 for another. These loans are consolidated and should both show 60 qualifying payments. It is under review, but they can not provide a time frame for when I can expect the number to be corrected. It should not take so much effort on the part of the borrower to keep tabs on XXXX XXXX to do their job correctly and provide correct payment counts. Since they became my servicer several years ago I have spent many hours on the phone with them, emailing them, and carefully documenting everything to keep everything on track. The poor quality of their service is unacceptable.

Issue: Dealing with your lender or servicer

Subissue: Trouble with how payments are being handled

Consumer Complaint: My student loan servicer is XXXX XXXX. My recent payments over and above my monthly amount due have been applied to all my loans despite my repeated requests that they be applied to the loans with the highest interest rate. I have attempted to reach out several times but do not get a reply. They also do not apply my payment to the loans with the highest interest rates. I want all my payments above and beyond my required monthly payment applied to me highest interest balances.

Issue: Dealing with your lender or servicer

Subissue: Received bad information about your loan

Consumer Complaint: I recently thought I wanted to consolidate my loans. On the same day I submitted the request I called to inquire about a step in the process, at which time I was informed it would NOT be in my best interest. I spoke with two people that day, both of which said the request wouldn't go through if I stopped at this point. One even said that if it does go through, just call and they will reverse it. Well the request went through and when I called they said they will not reverse the consolidation. The woman I spoke with just kept saying, " heh sorry about the miscommunication ''. Now I have a loan repayment not in my best interest and lost a year of my public service forgiveness. To make it worse the interest rate is higher than other companies that offer consolidation.

Issue: Struggling to repay your loan

Subissue: Can't get other flexible options for repaying your loan

Consumer Complaint: I filed a complaint about this company XXXX and nothing was done about it. Their actions, fraudulant or not are the reasons why many students are in debt and unable to repay their loans because they do not provide solutions. I'm currently struggling to pay rent and other utilities while this company despite the number of complaints persists. It is amazing how this company is allowed to service federal loans and not offering solutions to resolve issues. I believe this loan taken out by my daughter, not me as I am a XXXX is a total sham maniupulated by XXXX College out in XXXX XXXX added to which my daughter left the school for health related issues long before her sophmore year began. These people do not cooperate and are not helpful in anyway or manner. They do not provide hard copy evidence or proof of the loan or supply you with physical hard copy mailings because they don't want to spend the money and purposely withhold information so they can keep the interest rates high to the point you'd have to starve yourself so they can get richer. It is a complete disgrace that they are allowed to service people who can not afford their unreasonable demands and have damaged my credit score because of it. I will not tolerate this any longer and I will file a second complaint.

Consumer Complaint: They increased my student loan interest rate, nearly doubling it. This happened in XX/XX/2018. They have been contacted and informed of the increase. They have given no reason for the increase. And they have opened a case to recalculation the student loan interest rate. But they have yet to correct the student loan interest rate to the right percentage.

Issue: Problem with a credit reporting company's investigation into an existing problem

Subissue: Their investigation did not fix an error on your report

Consumer Complaint: I'm just worried about the credibility and clarity of the present examination and also the missed payments pertaining to this particular account and how it is reporting on my credit report. Just about 45 days ago I applied for an assessment for the reason that I felt the item is not being submitted lately. To my shock I was given a document documenting that your evaluation was accomplished and that the item had been " affirmed as correct.

Issue: Dealing with your lender or servicer

Subissue: Problem with customer service

Consumer Complaint: I am currently on an a IL repayment plan which is the default plan after I did not recertify my IBR repayment plan. This IL plan is essentially the equivalent of a 10 year standard repayment plan which means my payments still qualify for PSLF. I went to the federal student loan website to review other repayment options and ICR was listed as lower. I filled out an application based on this. XXXX had a different calculation method and stated the payment would be significantly higher than that listed on the federal website. They had placed my application on hold and did not process. When I called them in XX/XX/2018, I asked that my application be canceled and make no changes to the repayment plan as it was the lowest and payments still qualify for PSLF. They stated they need to do some administrative things on their end to cancel however my loans are in forbearance and in a repayment plan I did not request. I can not even get a standard 10 year repayment plan which would still qualify for PSLF as it is not even offered. The payments in the new plan are higher and do not qualify for PSLF. I have spoken to customer service several times to reinstate the previous repayment plan that I was on as I never requested to be changed over to this new plan nor placed in forbearance. I was specifically told the application was on hold and that my application will be canceled. I am unable to get a timely resolution before the next payment is due.

Issue: Struggling to repay your loan

Subissue: Can't get other flexible options for repaying your loan

Consumer Complaint: When I signed up with XXXX, they told me and my mother that the payment was only {$50.00} a month and that it would come due 6 months after I graduated. That was a lie. It was like {$350.00} a month and no way near {$50.00}. Back in XX/XX/2009 I was supposed to graduate from XXXX XXXX XXXX. Well I took the classes as they were given to me. Even when I had a professor sleeping in class, snoring away. Plus another let go for not being certified because her credentials we're bogus. Basically wasting my time and credit hours. Graduation came around I realized that they didn't give me enough classes in time. Again, I thought the school would know when I graduated. So I went on for 3 more months. Even changed campus from XXXX/ XXXX to XXXX . Well I was told at the school when I signed up that repayment was to come due, 6 months after graduation. Well XXXX was only 3 months after. When I was to sign off on my degree in accuracy, they gave me the wrong degree, they didn't seem to me to be too professional. Three months, before I got to walk down the aisle at graduation I was called about being behind on loans. I mean 5 to 8 times a day, 7 days a week beyond graduation, for almost a year and a half. Which is harrassment. I almost sought legal action. So after graduation the economy was bad in 2009 and I was struggling to pay them. I paid off what I could. I had 8 loans and I paid off 2 of them. Then my parents had another loan that I had to pay. They ruined my parents credit because of that loan. So my parents took care of that one. Now I had five loans left best I could count. I was struggling because of no work, then my car broke down. So I put it into forbearance. I tried to pay back what I could. At this time I was looking for work and found out that XXXX XXXX was not excepted by employers because they considered it not reputable. So every job I applied to I was turned down in my field of XXXX XXXX. So I tried to look for work and it became hopeless. I am now just a blue collar guy working in retail stores. Here is what bothers me. 1 ) They closed down the XXXX XXXX when it was found out that XXXX was fradulant. 2 ) My degree is worthless. 3 ) Now I am in debt to the amount of {$38000.00}. 4 ) I have been told by these loan people to do as much as donate plasma to pay for it. ( I'm not kidding ). 5 ) I have been turned down many times at employers because of XXXX XXXX is on my resume, and it's not an accredited institution. 6 ) Now I am supposed to pay on a loan which has changed hands so many times I don't know who owns it now. 7 ) They now are taking some of my tax return. 8 ) They have been charged with fraud. Why should I pay on a counterfeit degree? 9 ) I was not some guy who dropped out. I went to the end and graduated, with a XXXX gpa. I was on the dean 's list at least 5 times. I got a plaque for perfect attendance. Even when professors where being let go because they lied about their credentials. I think I got cheated out of an education. This is why I need forgiveness.

Issue: Dealing with your lender or servicer

Subissue: Trouble with how payments are being handled

Consumer Complaint: XXXX is either incapable or at least has not been able to apply a consolidation payment to the loans I've specified. - On XX/XX/XXXX, I began the process of consolidating all of my un-subsidized student loans held by XXXX and XXXX XXXX XXXX through XXXX. - Payment was disbursed on XX/XX/XXXX. That same day I called to notify both of the current loan holders XXXX and XXXX XXXX XXXX of my plans to consolidate and requested to only apply the payment towards the un-subsidized loans. - Payment was posted on the XXXX account on XX/XX/XXXX. I called to inquire why the payment was not applied as directed, as it was evenly distributed to all loan. I re-request again to apply payment only to un-subsidized loans. - I requested to speak to supervisor and spoke with XXXX ( agent number XXXX ) who said the payment should be allocated as requested two weeks from the current date. - It is XX/XX/2018 and the payment has not been allocated as requested. The payment for the month of XXXX has now been posted. - Interest has continued to accumulate on loans that should have been paid off two weeks ago, and is being included for the current payment due in XXXX.
