Issue: Problem with a credit reporting company's investigation into an existing problem
Subissue: Difficulty submitting a dispute or getting information about a dispute over the phone
Consumer Complaint: XXXX is incorrectly charging me {$290.00}. I fulfilled my contract agreement and returned the equipment. I have called XXXX per phone calls, there was an adjustment made for the charges that leaves a correct balance owed of {$53.00}. XXXX has sold the debt to a collections agency and refuses to correct the inaccurate amount owed. This violates my consumer rights to have accurate information reporting.

Issue: Attempts to collect debt not owed
Subissue: Debt was result of identity theft
Consumer Complaint: Were being communicated by a debt collector, Convergent Outsourcing , Inc, that we owe money for an XXXXXXXX XXXX that was purchased with stolen information of my identity. The purchase was made in XXXX of XXXX using a fake email address and a deposit placed on a credit card with the last four digits of a card that does not belong to me. The XXXX was apparently leased through a company named XXXX XXXX, XXXX, which we have no clue where this company is located at. Ive had the same XXXX, since XXXX and Im on a plan with my son through XXXX XXXX XXXX. Ive never needed a new phone. We have filed a claim with the local police department regarding this identity theft & financial crime. I have communicated to the debt collector that this was due to identity theft by using steps provided by the FTC website to ensure that they stop any collection activity and stop and credit reporting based on these events. However, they consider this debts valid but on what ground? The fact they have have my stolen info and a fake email and a credit card with no ties to my name for a deposit?

Consumer Complaint: I only get form letters asking for payment. They will not correct their mistake or send me proof in writing. I had XXXX service for two years, XXXX. In XXXX I returned what equipment I had and paid the final bill sent to my new address. I never heard anything more from XXXX over the next 6 years. Then on XXXX of XXXX a form type letter, from Convergent a collection agency on behalf of XXXX communications, was mailed to my same new address. I called XXXX right away to correct this mistake and was told they no longer had my file. My file had been turned over to the collection agency. XXXX had never contacted me first. I called Convergent, the collection agency, and could never get good information about what the notice was for. It took me several phone calls and numerous agents to figure out I was being billed for equipment issued in XXXX, about 8 years before I purchased the property with XXXX service. I eventually learned from convergent that equipment was issued from XXXX. I sent Convergent closing statements showing I could not have been issued this equipment in XXXX having opened my XXXX account in XXXX. My previous address in XXXX was not even in a XXXX service area. I asked that all information they had about the equipment be sent to me in writing, which I have never received. I have also asked numerous times to speak with someone that can correct the XXXX mistake and no one that could help has ever been put on the phone or called me back. I was told to send Convergent any information I have and it will be forwarded to a dispute dept. I have sent information and have contacted them numerous times with no results. I contacted them in a timely manor and sent them what I have but I am getting no where. It is only {$120.00} but I do not owe it and refuse to pay for their error. I will not be coerced by this collection agency that seems unwilling to contact XXXX and get this straightened out. All I ever get are form letters asking me to pay. My perfect credit history of 48 years has been hurt by this company. It is not right. I am a senior and feel preyed upon by this collection company, with their form letters and unwillingness to help correct the mistake.. I am very stressed and XXXX because they have lowered my credit score, will not correct the mistake and just keep sending form type letters asking me to pay it. It is not right that they can make a false claim and there be nothing I can do about it. They leave me with only two options, to pay this fraudulent claim or it sits in my credit history for 6 years and I pay higher interest rates. One way or the other I loose.

Consumer Complaint: HI. CONVERGENT OUTSOURCING XXXX ; I have not supplied proof under the doctrine of estoppel by silence. Engelhart v Gravens mo 281 SW 715, 719, I presume that no proof of the alleged debt nor therefore any such debt, in fact therefore exists ... ... Im confused and stressed and shocked when I reviewed my credit report this week and I found multiple inaccuracies on my credit report from the 3 major credit bureaus from a collection company that I never have dealt with before. I've attempted several times to ratify the issue with the original creditors and credit bureaus and they still reporting inaccurate, unverifiable information. I have disputed this item with the credit reporting agency and they reported you confirmed the account as valid. I honestly do not believe to ever have any relationship with this collection agency or original creditor. Also there are several inaccuracies with this account the way it's reporting and that's a total violation of FCRA and FDCPA laws and regulations. In a good faith effort to resolve the matter amicably, I must demand proof of this debt, specifically the alleged contract or other instrument bearing my signature, as well as proof of your authority in this matter. Absent such proof, you must correct any erroneous reports of this past debt as mine. I am writing to request that you please provide the following information : 1. Please evidence your authorization under 15 USC 1692 ( e ) and 15 USC 1692 ( f ) in this alleged matter. 2. What is your authorization of law for your collection of information? 3. What is your authorization of law for your collection of this alleged debt? 4. Please evidence your authorization to do business or operate in this state. 5. Please evidence proof of the alleged debt, including the alleged contract or other instrument bearing my signature. 6. Please provide a complete account history, including any charges added for collection activity. You have 30 days upon receipt of this letter to provide strict proof of contract. In the event you can not provide strict proof of contract, you must cease and desist any and all collection efforts and immediately remove any derogatory information reported to the consumer reporting agencies. In addition, you will need to provide me your agreement, in writing, that you are closing your file, ceasing collecting activity, and deleting all information related to this reference number from any and all credit reports youve furnished the information to. In the event you transfer this account to an attorney without providing proof of contract, and proving your claim, he/she will be immediate reported to the XXXX XXXX XXXX and XXXX XXXX XXXX for code of ethics violations.

Consumer Complaint: On XXXX XXXX Convergent Outsourci add a derogatory mark on my credit report per XXXX XXXX. Upon further research this account was transferred and sold and I'm no longer responsible for the account. Debtors creditors did no verify this collection. Also there wasn't no writing form of communication contract or signature for this accused debt at all. A bill without a signature does not validate the debt and anybody can send a bill and say it's mines. According to the fcra Convergent Outsourci has violated my rights as a consumer and I'm requesting legal action to remove this account immediately.
