Issue: Attempts to collect debt not owed
Subissue: Debt was paid
Consumer Complaint: I received a letter from a debt collector, stating that if I paid 35 % of my total debt it would be settled and paid in full. 7 days later I paid the settlement amount. I received a written letter from the debt collector stating my account had been settled in full a few days later. Months has gone by, and they have only reduced the settled amount from the original amount owed, instead of bringing my balance to XXXX. I have disputed it and provided all the proof to XXXX, and they told them the balance reporting is correct, which is false because it should bring my balance to XXXX which again I have proof in the debt settled in full letter from the collector. Now, since I paid the settled amount, the original grantor is reporting my account as delinquent every month, hurting my credit. The whole point of me paying the settled amount was to help my credit. They are definitely not allowed to do this and it is not fair to me.

Issue: Written notification about debt
Subissue: Didn't receive enough information to verify debt
Consumer Complaint: I sent out multiple validation letters asking for prompt response and documentation with my signature, right to collect debt, license to collect debt in order to make an informed decision on whether this debt is mine. Convergent Outsourcing, Inc never provided any of requested info. XXXX didn't do a proper investigation. They basically verified this debt based information in their system. Letter sent to Convergent Outsourcing, Inc on XX/XX/2021 and XX/XX/2021. Phone conversation with XXXX representative on XX/XX/2021. XXXX verified a collection without the collection agency validing the debt.

Subissue: Attempted to collect wrong amount
Consumer Complaint: Explanation of complaint : Convergent Outsourcing Inc. is intentionally misrepresenting data in violation of the FCRA ( https : //www.ftc.gov/enforcement/statutes/fair-credit-reporting-act ). This is a clear violation of the law. Collection Agency ( COI ) Must supply all of the following documentation in an accurate and truthful manner. 1. Original Contract 2. Pay Off Disclosure 3. Interest Rate Disclosure 4. Balance History 5. Payment History 6. Credit Insurance COI is fraudulently " re-aging '' debt for the purposes of damaging credit in attempts to manipulate and coerce consumers. ( What is re-aging and can it harm your credit report? Re-aging is the term used when a debts status changes in credit reports to make them appear as a new debt. Unless a financial institution is the one doing the re-aging process after a payment agreement has been established, neither the original creditor nor a debt collector can re-age a negative account. No matter how many times a delinquent account is transferred or sold from a debt collector to another, the date of first delinquency should not change. Doing so is a severe violation of the Fair Credit Reporting Act ( FCRA ). ) COI has been contacted regarding this matter and has been unresponsive. I request assistance in requiring COI to adhere to legal and ethical requirements including : 1. Deletion of the derogatory entry in any and all future reporting to any and all credit reporting agencies. 2. Supply me with all of the required documentation as required by FCRA listed above ( numbered 1-6 ) 3. Supply complete documentation regarding all entities with whom this collection action has been transmitted to so that correction and dispute actions may be completed.

Issue: Attempts to collect debt not owed
Subissue: Debt was already discharged in bankruptcy and is no longer owed
Consumer Complaint: XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX account was discharged under Bankruptcy in XXXX. XXXX continued to bill for service despite notification of termination of contract or service. Services were not used from date of notification through and beyond date of discharge. However XXXX XXXX continued to bill for services not used and not wanted incurred prior to discharge and past date of discharge. They subsequently sent balance to collections. Initial collection agency was notified of the Bankruptcy and discussed the service billing periods and the collection was abandoned in XXXX. Four years later ( as XXXX was in process of acquiring XXXX and needed collections on the books ) beginning XX/XX/XXXX I received collection notice for the same discharged debt not only under the Bankruptcy but also under the initial collection agency. My complaint is against XXXX for continuing to bill for services after bankruptcy and continuing to collect said debt after it was discharged. Additionally my complaint is against CONVERGENT OUTSOURCING as they continue to attempt to collect a debt that was discharged under bankruptcy in XXXX and discharged by a previous collection agency. They continue to attempt to collect a debt despite dispute through credit reporting on multiple occasions. They have been provided Bankruptcy discharge on multiple occasions. In addition they are attempting to collect a debt that was discharged by a previous collection agency and is more than 7 years old. More importantly Convergent Outsourcing continues to report the debt falsely as new debt as of XX/XX/XXXX more than 4 years after the original debt thereby falsely reporting the history of the debt. Thereby violating Fair Credit Reporting. Convergent Outsourcing Phone number ( XXXX ) XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX WA XXXX

Subissue: Debt was result of identity theft
Consumer Complaint: Sent FTC letters ( Around XX/XX/XXXX ) with notice to furnish proof of the debt as well as to cease collection of the debt and to delete any derogatory marks on credit reports as per identity theft guidelines under the FCRA. The company has failed to remove the derogatory marks from the credit reports as well as failed to cease collection. Upon calling them this past week they claimed to have validated the debt and sent multiple letters. I have had no issues receiving letters from them before, however, the debt validation letters and any info as to what they are doing regarding the fraud were not received. Phone representative was aggressive and dismissive, claiming the postal service failed to deliver the letters and gave no intention of resending the letters. My FTC ID theft complaint letters were received on XX/XX/XXXX by Convergent Outsourcing and they only a few business days later reported the collections to all the credit bureaus. It appears no action was taken to respond to the ID theft claim, no investigation, no attempt to right the situation, and a complete disregard for FCRA regulation that collections be ceased and that reporting also be ceased to the credit bureaus.

Consumer Complaint: This is a New Complaint filed on XX/XX/XXXX. I am extremely distressed that you have continued to report fraudulent reformation. For well over 4 years. You guys have Included the information below in my credit profile and that you have failed to maintain reasonable procedures in your operations to assure maximum possible accuracy in the credit reports you publish. Credit reporting laws ensure that bureaus report only 100 % accurate credit information. Every step must be taken to assure the information reported is completely accurate and correct. The last response I received on XX/XX/XXXX is as Quoted, On XX/XX/XXXX, XXXX placed this account in our office to collect a balance of {$570.00}. We sent you a validation notice on XX/XX/XXXX. This notice included your right to dispute the balance owed. To date, this complaint is the first communication we have received on behalf of this account. In response to your complaint, this account has been placed in a disputed status and collection activity has been suspended. We will obtain validation from our client. Once this information has been obtained, we will mail the documents to you. It is Convergent Outsourcings position that this account will be updated to the credit bureaus with accuracy as disputed. Your failure to positively verify these accounts has hurt my ability to obtain credit. Under the FCRA, unverifiable accounts must be removed especially given this process has lasted while over 5 months & I have received little to no communication from you guys which is highly unprofessional. If you are unable to provide me a copy of verifiable proof bearing my SIGNATURE. It must be removed immediately. Thank you in advance!

Consumer Complaint: Convergent Outsourcing put a non payment note on my credit file and tanked my credit score by 150 points. The original debt resulted from fraudulent use of my credit history to obtain a XXXX account. The amount owed as {XXXX}. This was already communicated to XXXX. It is for an apartment in low income housing in XXXX. I live in Texas. My XXXX account is current and has always been, as are all my accounts are. I contacted Convergent Outsourcing to remove the note and they completely refused. This is abusive, wrong and unfair. They need to be prosecuted for this abusive practice. There is no way a company should be able to do this with no attempt to find the real thieves.
